Sending love to everyone who feels... behind. Behind on love, behind on career, behind on healing. You are not late to your own life. There is still so much time for things to change, grow, and make sense.
It is not shameful to be broke. It is not shameful to be healing. It is not shameful to be overwhelmed. It is not shameful to be depressed. It is not shameful to feel behind in a world not designed to make becoming easy.
I know all of the summer lovers will hate this one, but Iβm so ready for the end of the heat and the quiet of autumn. π
This hippo
I love this hippo and I hope it catches the dream itβs chasing! What dream do you think it is?

Advice for writing Wheelchair Users!!
it's not "confined to" or "wheelchair-bound." The chair is mobility, not imprisonment, and for most users it genuinely means freedom to go places, not a limitation being described. Also ask yourself why your character uses a chair (paralysis, chronic illness, amputation, energy conservation) before you write it, bc the reason genuinely changes everything about how they interact with it.
β .β¦ Not all wheelchair users are paralyzed.Β Some people use a chair bc standing or walking is technically possible but exhausting or painful, conditions like POTS, EDS, or chronic fatigue can mean a character walks a few steps at home and uses a chair to actually leave the house. This isn't "faking it," it's called being an ambulatory wheelchair user, and it's a real, common experience that fiction almost never shows, real ambulatory users have reported people accusing them of faking it or writing off a walking scene as a continuity error, when it's just accurate.
β .β¦ Curbs, stairs, and thresholds aren't minor obstacles, they're often the whole plot of getting anywhere.Β A single step can genuinely end an outing. Don't write a character rolling smoothly through an "accessible" building that conveniently has zero barriers, real accessibility gaps, heavy doors, no ramp, a broken elevator, a bar counter too high to order at, are constant background friction and worth actually including.
β .β¦ Transfers take skill and are often the hardest part of daily life.Β Getting from chair to bed, car, or toilet is its own genuine physical task, sometimes needing a slide board, sometimes needing help from another person, sometimes done solo with serious upper-body strength built specifically for it. it's rarely the instant, effortless motion it's often shown as.
β .β¦ People don't want to be touched or moved without asking.Β Grabbing the handles of someone's chair and pushing them without asking is a real, common, and deeply unwelcome experience, it's an extension of their body, not a shopping cart. A well-meaning character doing this and getting corrected is way more accurate than an entire cast that instinctively already knows better.
β .β¦ Wheelchairs are not one-size-fits-all or interchangeable.Β A manual chair, a power chair, and a sports chair all serve genuinely different needs and represent real financial and logistical choices, power chairs especially are expensive and often need regular charging, which matters if your character's going anywhere overnight. Writing "the wheelchair" as one generic object flattens something that's actually highly personalized, often decorated, sometimes even named by the person using it.
β .β¦ Lastly, use language centered on accessibility, not disability.Β "Accessible parking" instead of "handicapped parking," "Wheelchair user" or "Person who uses a wheelchair" instead of the older, more clinical phrasing. it's a small shift, but it changes the framing from "something wrong with this person" to "something the space needs to provide."
Is there a reason why everyone is suddenly switching from Wattpad to ao3? I personally never use Wattpad and have always used ao3, but my close friend is very adamant about how she thinks Wattpad is better and that ao3 is overrated. She says that ao3 feels outdated, and complains how it doesn't have an app because she likes to read things offline and she doesn't like downloading fics on ao3 because apparently downloading them on Wattpad is easier. I think maybe she just doesn't know how to use ao3 and likes how Wattpad has a fyp. I've never been pushy about how she should use ao3 because it's just her own personal preference to use Wattpad. But has something happened on Wattpad where it would be better for her to use ao3? I've seen a lot of people switching over so I'm curious
yes. wattpad recently updated its rules to be even more pro censorship. a lot of smut fics and taboo fics were removed and are now banned from wattpad's platform (these are all old rules that wattpad uses since day one, but wattpad has just recently made them even harsher/more strict than before), causing a lot of wattpad users to leave wattpad for ao3, an anti censorship site.
I have already made a post explaining why ao3 does not, and cannot, have an app here.
and another post here explaining why ao3 site is not "aesthetically pretty."
also here is the list of things you (general you) need to know about ao3 if you're leaving wattpad and are joining ao3 instead.
Every day I love AO3 more and more

I think it's actually essential to children's moral development to be exposed to short stories moderately beyond their reading level where a bunch of fucked up shit happens and then instead of offering a moral lesson or any sort of emotional or narrative resolution it just ends.
