Oh gosh. 5 months? Thats how long I’ve been off? My goodness.

Elegance is a discipline of life.

Is this really the world? Shall I grieve? Shall I hope?

The moon, also, is merciless.

Imperiously serene, lunar and ethereal.

She adored all beautiful things in their every curve and fragrance, so that they became part of her. Day by day, she gathered beauty; had she had no heart (she who was the bosom of womanhood) her thoughts would still have been as lilies, because the good is the beautiful.

The humblest tasks get beautified if loving hands do them.

Don’t say you were a bit confused and sort of tired and a little depressed and somewhat annoyed. Be tired. Be confused. Be depressed. Be annoyed. Don’t hedge your prose with little timidities. Good writing is lean and confident.

The night undressed us (I counted its pulse)

Barefoot. And with rose petals in your hair.

I’m morbid and loving. You made me.

We yearn for the beautiful, the unknown, and the mysterious.

I am always in too many worlds,

People often judge the level of a civilization by the amount of paper it uses. That, however, is simply a matter of volume, not quality. Quality is how the heart and soul of a civilization should be measured. How can bad paper and high civilization possibly be bedmates? One can gain a glimpse of the quality of a people’s life by the kind of paper they use for writing letters, for literary works, and for various other tasks. Paper should not be deprecated. To do so is to deprecate beauty itself.

I could not stop wasting time. It was crazy. I wanted to do something with my life, but instead I went to sleep, or sung in the shower, or sat and stared at the wall. I couldn’t even tell you about anything that I saw. I didn’t talk to anybody. The cicadas kept dying outside, and as I dreamed, my mouth grew thick and venomous with silence.

Each day we are becoming a creature of splendid glory or one of unthinkable horror.

I burn, consumed; and resurrect, half-slain.
