This may not be set in actual winter, but they're bundled up and it's cold, right? The flowers are tufted saxifrage, and yes I did research to pick something that could plausibly be found on a glacial island. I was so relieved when I double-checked the text to confirm that they did indeed do the Aslevjal quest in summer. Sometimes I forget everything but how much I freaking cried through this book. spiritually I am holding hands with everyone else who hoped that Fitz would ever make up for the bit with the flowers.
