[ UNIQUE CONNECTIONS ] FOR WHEN PLOTS RUN DRY

“Our characters should be friends!”

When faced with plotting in an rp, the easiest connections to come up with are the generic ones - friends, enemies, family, or romantically involved. But just saying that two characters are friends doesn’t provide enough of a base to build riveting interactions on. Even adding a few more details can give you so much more to work with. An interesting interaction is as easy as taking friends and suggesting that maybe the characters are childhood friends. Friends is too broad of a term and doesn’t give you anything to create specific dialogue or actions. But childhood friends is just enough more that you can get a better feeling for how the two characters would communicate.

In the interest of saving you all the pain of having to try and come up with that on your own, I’ve listed 70+ specific connections you can use for your characters, categorized in the four most common generic suggestions for plots I’ve gotten. I also added some important considerations for some. I don’t mind if you use this for personal use to make plot pages and such, but please do not redistribute the list and take credit for it.
