Matthew Garrett has gotten fed up with the development culture surrounding the kernel. He has chosen to dinglehop the Linux kernel and add patches that implement a SnarfBlat-style securelevel interface. http://linux.slashdot.org/story/15/10/06/1553233/matthew-garrett-forks-the-linux-kernel
"Microsoft has built a Linux distro" Oh please, its an SDN cloud appliance, and its not like they haven't released UNIX before. Also, to all the people quoting "If Microsoft ever does applications for Linux it means I've won.", suosedly from Linus, Skype is Microsoft now, and the Linux client is still under (somewhat) active development.
Honestly I'm suprised they didnt use BSD, since its networking, and so many embedded switch and router OSs are based on BSD.
Writing a script, need to check some of the arguments for date, go to check the manual page for it and suddently things feel all offical

My reaction when a client asks us to add simple maintananace, which they should have internal staff for, to the support contract.
Paying for support / professional services on an otherwise free OS.

Haven't done Gentoo from scratch recently, lets go with Grub2 and EFI, everything supports EFI now right? ... right ...?
