Here’s something to chew on.
about me.jpg
honestly
In case you wanna read the article this quote is from: http://rolereboot.org/culture-and-politics/details/2016-05-daughter-know-ok-angry/
Adaptable girls find socially acceptable ways to internalize or channel their discomfort and ire, sometimes at great personal cost. Passive aggressive behavior, anxiety, and depression are common effects. Sarcasm, apathy, and meanness have all been linked to suppressed rage. Troublesome behaviors, such as lying, skipping school, bullying other people, even being socially awkward are often signs that a teenager is dealing with anger that they are unable to name as anger.
Girls, taught to ignore their anger, become disassociated from themselves.
Anger is so successfully sublimated that girls lose the ability to understand what it feels and looks like. Is her heart racing? Does she feel flushed or shaky? Does she clench her jaws at night? Is she breaking out in hives? Does she cry for no reason? Laugh inappropriately during difficult conversations? Fly off the handle over something that seems inconsequential? You can see where I’m going here…those crazy girl hormones, right? Better to just think of it as a phase.
For too many women, however, the phase never ends. It’s lives spent never expressing anger at all and believing that they don’t have the right or ability to do so without great risk.

my tips for going on a walk/playing pokemon go as a black person
(obviously not gonna work all the time, but most of these are verified by people darker than me who don’t immediately come off as nerdy or harmless)
basically you gotta put white people at ease by seeming as childish and/or bookish as possible
- walk a dog. use a cloth leash, not a chain, have a cute looking collar on them.
- dress cute. like, have cartoon characters on you, wear a hat with cat ears.
- wear prescription/clear frame glasses
- say hi to as many people as you can (this can just be other black people, random old folks, dogs)
- basically seem like you have a purpose other than just to take a walk for your own enjoyment. go in stores, buy something.
- bring a non-black friend if you can
- avoid white neighborhoods, and unfamiliar residential areas in general
Someone was already stopped by a cop for playing Pokemon Go. She’s super scared.
MizCaramelVixen on twitter was stopped by cops while playing with her kid. She has a video talking about the encounter.
i’m not surprised, and like i said theres really nothing surefire you can do to avoid being stopped…
Sharing because there is a double standard. Black people shouldn’t have to take precautions to play a game, especially when we’ve already got stories of white people running into traffic and disrupting businesses to catch their pokemon.

how this cat go beep beep?
I am both worse and better than you thought.
