âOh?â She glanced over at the man, watching as he sat down on the sidewalk, holding one of his shoes to his ear. He mightâve already taken care of that part. âEh, he can, if he wishes. Itâs not like heâs able to buy a house with that.â Should I have just written a check? Noâ he wouldnât have a bank account⌠UnlessâŚ? âHell, I wouldâve given him a pharmacyâs worth if heâd asked, but he requested cash, not substance, not food. Itâs his money now, I canât go about telling him how to use it, unless he was planning on buying sweatpants. Thatâd be an actual waste.â
"Thatâs a good point.â God, now she wished she had a cigarette. Subliminal thinking was a bitch like that. âYeah, thatâs probably shitty of me to assume heâd go and use it on drugs.â Just because he looked like he was on them didnât mean that might be the case. Could just be a regular, sober, homeless crazy person. L.A. seemed to have a lot more of them than back home. âWhy would that be a waste? Sweatpants are cozy, comfy, the ideal clothing if you had to be out here on the streets I reckon.â

â⌠Damn,â she mumbled, before breaking the cigarette in half and tossing it aside. What a waste. âI guess it really wasnât meant to be. I could use a break.â A moment later, she turnedâ âOh, that guy? I donât see that happening. I gave him a hundred earlier per his request, but he then proceeded to ask me what year it was and if Iâd ever been to Jupiter, so Iâm not sure Iâd expect anything of use from him. Unless you know something I donât.â
Did she really just break her cigarette and throw it away? What a waste of a perfectly good cigarette, Lily thought. âYou gave him a hundred? Thatâs awfully generous of you. But you do know heâs probably going to use about $75 of that on drugs, donât you.â She didnât say it in a judgmental manner, merely enlightening the very rich girl who seemed somewhat out of touch with the world around her.

Paul Lewandowski (Hugh Bonneville)Â
59, Landscaper. A bit of a lazy sod. Means well.Â
Cordelia âCocoâ Lewandowski (Cara Delevingne)
25, A graduate of Chelsea College of Arts, her work has been shown in galleries all throughout London, and a handful in Paris and Vienna too.
Isobel âBelâ Lewandowski (Poppy Delevingne)
28, Interior arranger/brand collaborator. The eldest and most sensible one.
Gayatri âGayaâ Lewandowski  (Alia Bhatt)Â
21, Reading English in Cambridge. Got A* on all her A-levels. Aspiring author and poet. Hates Rupi Kaur. Born the same year as Lily. When Gayatri was two, her mother passed away of cancer. With her father living in India, her motherâs best friend â Cecily â took her in, and after some stressful court dates and paperwork (the Lewandowskis financial situation wasnât the best at the time), they were able to finally adopt her. Gayaâs only memories are of growing up with her siblings, and considers them blood family. Â
Hamish âJoelâ Lewandowski (Tom Glynn-Carney)
18, Student. An accident, but a happy one. Just as Cecily said she was absolutely done with kids, she started getting headaches and shakes. Thinking it was premature menopause, but surprise â she turned out 3 months pregnant. Essentially Ferris Bueller. Babied and loved by all the girls. Decided he hated the name Hamish when he was eleven, has gone by Joel ever since. If anyone in the family is irritated with him though, they wonât hesitate to resort to his real name. Lily has gotten in a lot of fights sticking up for him.Â
Lily Marissa Lewandowski (Florence Pugh)
21, Law student. Baby. She considers her best friend in the whole world her sister, Gaya. If that makes her look like a loser, Lily gives no shits. They went through daycare, primary, and school together, always in the same year, always getting in scrapes, Lily sticking up for and throwing fists if her sister got picked on or bullied. They have been partners in crime through countless of crimes and shenanigans, a constant thorn in their parentsâ sides. Sheâs in her third year reading law at Oxford (âItâs called Jurisprudence, actuallyâ), and very very tired.
Motto: Persequere // Just keep going.
Originally from: Twickenham, England. Paulâs side of the family is Polish and migrated to England at the beginning of the First World War.Â
Fictional family: The Weasleys. Cecily and Paul are Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, and Lily and Gaya can definitely draw comparisons to Fred and George.
Black sheep: No one, but Hamish sees himself as such every now and then, if for nothing but the fact he is the one guy among 4 sisters.Â
Memorable family vacation: Mallorca. It rained the entire time they were there and the package holiday they booked was in what must have constituted the worldâs filthiest hotel. They didnât even get a partial refund. To top it all off, they lost Hamish, almost turning the situation into a Madeleine McCann one, but he was found by a gay couple inside one of the islandâs bars.Â
The family in one word: Cacophonous
When the girl in front of them asked for management, Dexter sighed. They didnât want to do manager duties today. What they really wanted was to go back into their office with that bottle of scotch and smoke. It was too early for this or too late, whatever the time was, it was not the time for management duties. Dexter downed the last of their drink and pour themselves another. âIâm management, what can I do you for?â They asked giving the her a small smile.
"Oh, um, you are?â Lily asked, definitely sounding surprised by the revelation. That explained the making himself at home behind the bar thing. Everyone else in the club was busy though, the bartenders pouring out drinks for the packed club, made sense if they didnât have time to attend to everyone. The English girl cleared her throat and spoke louder to be heard over the music. âWell..I donât usually do this, but...thereâs kind of a suspicious individual in the other dancefloor. Heâs short, about 5â˛5 with brown hair and wearing a black leather jacket. I, uh, I couldâve sworn I saw him circling around some girls and, erm, trying to take pictures of them...â No, she didnât think, she was sure. But for some reason, she still phrased it like that.Â
It was starting to get late into the afternoon, and the sun would be going down soon. His attention was already drifting away from the book heâd been poring over for the past couple of hours, and he supposed a distraction would be welcome by now. Landon closed his book, slipping a folded sheet of paper into it so he didnât lose his place, then smiled.
âI think theyâre on the north west side of campus, but I donât really know anybody there. We could do it at my place if you want. Maybe invite a few friends over who are into it? Iâm putting you in charge of snacks, and Iâll provide the space and drinks,â he mused, lowering his voice again when glares were shot in their direction from one of the adjacent tables. âWhat are your teamâs colors? We gotta represent,â he mused with a grin.
"Yeah, I donât know how stuff works over there either,â Lily agreed. She kind of like that both of them were off-campusers, it made her feel less alone in being something of an outsider. âOh my god, youâd be up for that?â she said, super excited now. Essay forgotten, all perked up at the prospect of watching a game at the same time her friends and family would probably be doing. âOh, I can do snacks. I can also bring booze. All the booze you could want. Iâve made friends with the guy at my local corner store, he gives me discounts and stuff because he likes me.â In all her excitement, Lily too forced herself to lower her voice and lean closer to whisper to Landon.Â
âTheir colours are red and white. Kind of boring, I know.âÂ
Bobbie did notice the weird look on the girlâs face, but he had gotten so many weird looks during the years he didnât really think too much about it. Every person he had met had always had some kind of opinion about him and more often than not those opinions were leaning on the weirded side. âSort of, but not reallyâ, he replied, glanced out to the street and then looked back down to the blonde. âYou are here now. Did you need something? Got locked out of the house? Your dog got loose?â
"No, no, nothing like that...â Lily said, definitely regretting her choice. The guy didnât seem all too pleased to see her, definitely not the picture of American neighborly-ism that she had been painted over the years...but this was L.A. after all. Maybe he was a big shot screenwriter and he was put off that she hadnât recognized him. âI just moved in next door. Well, a couple of weeks ago, really. And I thought Iâd come introduce myself...Iâm Lily.â She smiled, then as if on cue offered up the plate covered in tinfoil. âI also made some cinnamon rolls, thought you might like them?â Maybe he was into that whole vegan, gluten free thing. She shouldâve definitely planned this better.
Wren wanted a dog. He had been living in Silver Lake for almost three years and he finally started to getting the hang of a routine but now, he thought he was ready for a dog. He sighed loudly as he waited in line to get his coffee. He spent a lot of time searching the adoption centres in Silver Lake and Los Angeles, hoping he could find a dog. He turned around and smiled at the person behind him. âExcuse me. Can you tell me if you think this dog is cute?â He asked them, turning his phone in their direction. âI really want a dog.âÂ
"Ooh, lemme see.â Lily flipped her sunglasses up on her head, leaning forward. Any mention of dogs, and she was there. âOh my god, he is so cute. Or she. I love her. I want her. If you donât get her, Iâll get her myself. Maybe Iâll fight you for her.âÂ

âDream interpretation â yea or nay?â He posed the question with a pensive look, only waiting half a second before launching, âBecause I had this super weird one recently and I still canât shake it. Iâve got no clue why or how, but in the dream I was casting Friends â yâknow, that 90â˛s show? â and I picked the same actor for everybody⌠except for Ross. I chose Steve Buscemi.â Lucas gave a dramatic pause to really let that information sink in. âI think itâs gotta mean something big. Buscemi always means something.â @slchatâ
âWhat if the Steve is you? Maybe itâs symbolic of that. Youâre like, young, but deep down on the inside you feel much older than your peers and secretly alienated from them. Am I getting it?âÂ
âI literally hate to ask but my PA had the audacity to get sick and itâs like, critical that I post this look today, so likeâŚâ Trying to disguise her immense distaste for the situation with her chipper interview voice, she hesitantly held her phone out to the other person, âYou wanna snap a couple really quick? Iâll tag you or whatever, or like, buy you something pretty.â @slchatâ
Lilyâs knees began to tremble. There was talking, there was words, but she fully was not processing any of them in the moment. It was surreal, beyond surreal, like a dream that was happening in reality but actually not, and she would wake any moment. The Noreen Innocent was speaking to her. Was she speaking to her, or someone behind her? It couldnât be, literally could not be. âOh my god...â How was this happening, literally how? In her shock, the blonde girl dropped her iphone.Â
What fucking day was it? Dexter thought to themself as they woke once again in their office at Dungeon. They had a perfectly good bed at home, but the couch in the office was better, obviously. Dexter stretched out their arms and legs before getting up completely. Looking on the floor, they noticed the empty bottle of scotch and sighed. Of course, the scotch was gone and of course, they needed to go out to the bar to get more since they couldnât remember who exactly was working that night. Dexter slowly made their way to the bar, dragging their feet in front of them. Once there, they reached for a new bottle while lighting a cigarette with their other hand. As Dexter turned around to get a new glass, they noticed someone sitting at the bar. âOh, hello. Do you need something?â They asked pouring the scotch in the glass.
âErm, yeah,â Lily said, looking rather fidgety. It would probably be clear to the guy just getting one look at her, that she wasnât just waiting for a bartender to give her drink order to. And he didnât even look like a bartender in the first place, more like some person whoâd wandered in and made themselves at home behind the bar. It was odd, really, but she wasnât here to dwell on that. âDo you know where I could go to speak to management, or a head of security here or someone like that?âÂ

Um, like, everything. But at the same time, itâs nice being in L.A. I miss being away from my family, my friends, I miss the weather. Donât get me wrong, I love the sun, but Iâm just not used to this much sun in March and I keep having to stock up on SPF.
I havenât had the time to look but I want to find a decent chippy, preferably one thatâs open 24/7. Not being able to get chips with salt and vinegar after a night out really hurts, existentially.
Bobbie was in his studio, working on one commission he had gotten few days ago. Luckily he didnât have any glass in his hands when the doorbell rang all of a sudden. If he wouldâve been handling glass on that moment there wouldâve been no way he wouldâve gone to the door. Leaving the glass be wouldâve just ruined the whole piece and he wouldâve had to start from a scratch. But was he happy by the fact his work was disturbed by a doorbell? No, no he wasnât. Days like this he did think should he get some kind of secretary who would answer the phone and open the door. Surely he couldâve left the doorbellâs sound stay in the house, but since he was living alone he had to have the doorbell ring both in the house and in his studio because otherwise heâd never hear someone was on the door.
He took off his gloves, put the safety glasses to hang from the neckline of his shirt but he left the dark grey leather apron on as he headed outside and through the house to the front door. At the door he stopped, glanced behind him sort of to check was there anything thatâd give out who he was, but of course there wasnât â there never was â and he opened the door.
He looked at the blonde girl, then the plate in her hands and then back to her. âHello thenâ, he replied, but didnât say anything else. This was weird, right?
Now she was slightly regretting her decision. Both for the clipped manner with which the guy answered, the âwho the fuck are youâ look he was giving her, and also the outfit he had on. She tried not to make comparisons, but The Texas Chainsaw Massacre flashed bright and clear in front of her eyes. There seemed to be no blood on his leather apron though, so maybe he was just doing some...heavy duty cooking.
âAre you, erm, in the middle of something? I could come back if you want...â she trailed off, momentarily flustered and not having thought quite this far ahead.
