The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve. 

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

So if I'm looking at a reblog I made of a post that I made, I need to go back to the original post to see tags and comments (and replies!!!!!) on that, so if I'm looking at a reblog of a post that skips some interim reblogs, the notes and replies don't show up:

And If I want to look at my most recent reblog of my own post and see the history of comments and tags on the post I can only see reblogs of the most recent reblog

And if I'm looking at the original post as the OP, even if I've reblogged other threads, the replies are only visible on the reblogged versions that were replied to:

Theyve had a corrupt as hell government full of nepo babies which killed 19 people the other day (including unarmed children) during a protest and Gen Z was like "No we're gonna burn you mother fuckers down", they've burned down the presidential palace, the parliament, police offices, houses of politicians.
