when Scooby and Shaggy are separated from the gang, the world around them is more comedic in tone

when Daphne is with them or Velma, the supernatural/spooky elements return

by that logic, if you were to separate Velma from Daphne and the rest of the gang, the world's mysteries and secrets are what receive focus

(When Shaggy and Scooby are separated:

ver.1 when splitting up for mysteries they have more comedy

ver.2 1980-1983 shorts + DTV movies the supernatural and magic are real (ghosts, genies, witches, vampires; both Scooby and Shaggy turn into werewolves; time travel; weirdness))

(when Daphne is with them:

ver.1 when looking for clues...I can't think of any time the three of them distinctly looked for clues in a setting that wasn't

ver.2.i the Scooby-Doo Detective agency does include supernatural elements but also spy elements, along with real monsters and real aliens (which Velma and Fred both are involved in)

Huckleberry Pie is based off Huckleberry Finn, so Pie has a sort of kid friendly version of Finn’s personality, which makes a neat character(who is unfortunately under-utilised but I won’t get into that right now)

Since 2003, Huck’s been what I like to call “That one straight cis male in the Poly Lesbian show disguised as a girl power cartoon who only exists to throw off Homophobic Parents.” Popular examples include Flash Sentry from Equestria Girls and Terence in Pixie Hollow. He’s not my preference by a long shot but he’s a necessary evil

Everyone else felt just as bland. I love what they did with Strawberry herself to hell and back. But everyone else really blends in with one another. Like, they took the model for Strawberry, recolored her and made a few tweaks to the model. Sometimes I can't tell who's who just by looking at a picture from far away. To be fair, the same can kind of be said for previous shows at times. But BBA is the strongest example of this

+Im not sure how to explain this but the cgi series lacks that one fuzzy feeling the old series had, its not just the characters, its the entire atmposhere of it

It feels like a completely different piece of media compared to the old designs (which changed from the 1980s to the 2000s but still managed to keep the same aesthetic and theme), the new one just copied and pasted the faces and gave every character a bland colour-coordinated outfit, from that point on the characters dont feel like different unique people on their own
