WAITTTTTTT HOLD ON QUESTION ABOUT MY RAT #MYRAT ........ hang on i wrote an essay. sorry about this i don't often get asked about her

So first off their backgrounds:

Usami grew up in a relatively quiet area, with a relatively normal family. As did Rat (at least based on what I read in their character backstory). Though to be fair that’s kinda where the similarities on background end.

And besides Usami is kinda.. well you could call him a mad dog. Extremely loyal, extremely jealous. Somewhat similar to Rat I find but there wasn’t a catalyst to cause this extreme behavior like with Rat. But you describe Rat as being a sort of guard dog, which almost immediately made me think of Usami (I almost wrote Osoma…).

So… relatively normal family? Check.

Loyal as a dog? Check.

Obsessed with their chosen person? Check.

Also the fact that Tsurumi and Ogata are both enablers of Usami and Rat respectively. Tsurumi covering for Usami’s crime of killing his best fiend (cause as you know he was jealous of the attention and praise he was getting from Tsurumi :3) and Ogata almost seems to enjoy the amount of devotion Rat has towards him, so encourages the behavior with affection.

And Ogata really isn’t that good of a manipulator… so he must unconsciously have at least SOME fondness for Rat. Maybe like a reluctant owner to a clingy dog.

I don't think I ever have! This is my first time drawing them together in any capacity :)) This ask has given me several ideas for interactions between them, though, so hopefully I'll get around to drawing/writing them soon!

Just a little head canon I had, because this whole story of KCD1 plays within two or so months, so nobody can tell me they might not be impressed by how fast Henry learned so many thing at once. Of course Bernard would never admit it directly to that little peasant, lol.

Also Hans is already head over heels for Henry. ;) He knew Henry wouldn't let him hanging when he asked him to participate in the tourney.

Additionally - not sure, if this has already been discussed somewhere and I didn't realise the first time I played it, but - when I later read somewhere that Hans gave Henry golden spurs as a reward when you win the tourney within his quest, I was like "wait a sec" and started to check some sources, because...

Golden spurs were a sign of knighthood and were usually given to a man after he had been knighted. And technically only actual knights were considered to wear them. Sooooo not sure if this was intentional of Warhorse and how far this was common practice in Bohemia at that time, but if Hans gave Henry those spurs after he won the tourney fully aware of their meaning, it would imply that Hans acknowledged Henry as knight - even if it's just unofficially, as he doesn't have the necessary authority, since Henry is not noble, and only the king could knight a non-noble. Feel free to educate me on this part, but it still is now canon for me that Henry is Hans' "knight in shining armour" and he wanted to express it this way. 😄
