I had a great need to draw a retro looking poster with them boyos to hang over my tv~
Saw your Pando post and it inspired a AEIWAM idea so.
Which Division is likely to host Someone who's Zanpakuto's spirit is literally the collective consciousness of dead members of a still living Colony Organism?
You know? That's weirdly close to Yamamoto's Bankai in Canon. Okay, it's everyone he's killed with Ryujin Jakka, now drafted into the skeleton war, but the idea of thousands of discrete souls bound by a collective final fate is still there.
That Said, In AEIWAM, the 7th Division is low-key FULL of Zanpakuto spirits that are just... Bizarre
Sure, the 13th has the Kido weirdos, the 11th is basically a museum showcasing Zaraki's collection of Weird Little Guys, and many of the Zanpakuto in the 4th are... Unpleasantly Visceral in nature.
...But the 7th quietly collects shinigami that don't quite fit in to the Gotei-13's culture at large in much the same way a washing machine collects socks. The 7th is kind of an odd division, because it's responsible for managing the vast majority of souls that enter Soul Society, which means that they almost never deploy and spend 90% of their time at a desk flexing their soft skills- You have GOT to have good social skills in the 7th, because you are literally constantly dealing with people who have just had the WORST(last) day of their lives and are at least some kind of fucked up about it.
...But it's one of, if not THE most important function of the Gotei-13. Hollow eradication is important to maintaining the balance of souls between the realms, but if INTAKE goes down- the universe could start disintegrating in a matter of days.
Since the 7th rarely deploys, the most "action" they see is defending the section of the Dangai that's been stabilized to make The Queue from the occasional hollow, breaking up fights between incoming souls, and Redirecting The Janitors*. And because that's not a typical battlefield or hunting party, the division is much more hospitable to Wielders of Zanpakuto that aren't necessarily good for Combat.
Someone wielding the past incarnations of Pando would be a godsend, actually- Zanpakuto that have field effects are incredibly useful in establishing defensive borders around The Queue, and being able to manifest something like Pando would be INCREDIBLY helpful. * The fact that Komamura's zanpakuto can actually HEAL without the intervention of Royal Guardsman Oetsu** means he's one of the few people that can wrestle them away from The Queue without getting himself or The Janitors killed.
**This is because unlike the vast majority of Shinigami, the spirit Sajin is using for his Zanpakuto*** isn't his Yume-Kon, but an entirely discrete soul he bonded with as a young man. *** Tenken isn't a sword either. Sajin is very, very good at lying by omission and letting people have the wrong impression. The sword he carries is quite powerful and has great personal significance, but you'd think someone would have noticed that the spirit that manifests as a suit of armor doesn't live in the sword, but in the pauldrons Komamura is always wearing.
