summary: Stray kids have been on tour for the past two months and normally that would be more than fine for Jeongin. Now though, while he had plans to fly his family out to Sydney to see them while he was on the tour and a storm is crashing his plans, the maknea isn't feeling his best. Insert two of his hyungs who adore him and their love for helping the younger as well as their planning methods and bam. Instant difference. But it remains a surprise. For now.
The band was once again on tour. The schedule this time could be considered weird. They travelled first to Japan and then toured America but instead of moving on to Europe they went to Sydney. They were already two months in and Innie had missed his parents quite a bit. So he decided to make arrangements for them to see their concert on Sydney, only fate had other plans.
The alarm that aeroplanes weren’t able to travel from or to Sydney for at least a week hit the youngest like a brick. He was looking forward to seeing his parents and brothers, to show them around Australia, have them meet Felix’s family and Chan’s perhaps. Have his brothers get to know more about his members too. But that would not be happening apparently. And it was needless to say that the maknae was beyond sad.
They were at the hotel two nights before the concert, the younger was curled on his bed when he heard a soft knock on the door. Then the door opened but Innie refused to look. Still thinking that his parents would have been flying tonight if it weren’t for that stupid disruptive storm.
“Innie what’s wrong?” Chan-hyung.
“Nothing much hyung, just that my family won’t make it as planned…”
“Because of the alarm?” the older asked softly.
“Yeah. And I really wanted to see them. I’m getting homesick…” the younger teared up a bit, still refreshing his phone in case the news turned out to have been incorrect or exaggerating. That wasn’t the case at all.
“Aw love come here…” his hyung replied, encasing him in a hug.
Each of his members hugged differently. But there had always been a favourite cuddle bug amongst his older brothers.
“Chan-hyung…” he turned to the other again as he opened his eyes slowly and raised his head from the other’s shoulder.
“Yep?” the older waited for him to continue.
“Can you fetch me Felix-hyung? If possible Jinnie-hyung too...” the younger asked, suddenly seeming to Chan as small as he was when they debuted, or even before that.
“Sure kid. I’ll tell them to come straight here. Do you want me to bring you anything else or have Felix bring with him?” the leader asked, voice even and calm as he let Innie slide back on the bed.
“No hyung just get me Lixie-hyung and Jinnie-hyung please.”
Chan didn’t take long to reach the room Felix shared with Hyunjin. He knocked and heard a shout of “Come in” in an obvious Aussie accent. Even though from the duo Felix was the actual Aussie, Hyunjin had picked up the accent quite a while back, mostly because Felix was the one to teach him English, or so everyone thought.
As Chan entered the room he saw the two of them sat side by side on one bed, legs bent awkwardly -in Chan’s opinion because danceracha could give him a run for his money in flexibility- playing UNO.
“Hey Chan-hyung! Hyune pick up 6 please...” Felix said excitedly, he became such a little gremlin when he played board games.
“Lix Innie is kinda sad. He asked me to fetch you two for cuddles.” Chan explained and Felix’s expression fell.
“Sorry Hyune, say goodbye to our UNO.” Lix replied as he sat up straight.
“Oh. Is our maknae okay?” Hyunjin questioned.
“He is sad that’s all I’m saying. If he feels comfortable -which I’m certain about- he will tell you too anyway.”
The duo said their goodbyes to Chan and knocked on Innie’s door. After hearing a distant, ‘It’s open’ the duo entered the dimply lit room, quietly closing the door behind them.
“Innie, how are you doing aegi?” Hyunjin asked the youngest as he sat down on the edge of the bed, his hand gravitating naturally towards Jeongin’s back that was facing the ceiling.
“I’m alright...kind of...I don’t know...I’m sad...but yeah that’s all.” I.N admitted as he turned to face the duo.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Lix asked attentively, softly.
“You know how I planned for my family to get here? Well the plan fell through because of the planes being disallowed to fly…” as he said that his voice grew progressively quieter, smaller in that tone that had Felix and Hyunjin wanting to cover the maknae up and never let the world hurt him.
Felix stood by the foot of the bed as he asked: “Do you want me to go get something for us to eat? Maybe a snack? Do you think it would cheer you up love?”
“Could you get those cookies we ate last time we were in Sydney? The ones you said you ate while growing up hyung?” Jeongin requested.
“I can do anything for my brothers Innie, if getting you cookies is your ask then I shall find them.” the blond replied easily.
He bent down and left a kiss on Jeongin’s forehead. Then, as he turned to close the door, he had a slow, heavy eye-contact with Hyunjin. Received and agreed.
He sent a quick text to get Chan’s approval and he was off. As he was walking towards a supermarket he decided to call his dad, because as he had already said ‘I can do anything for my brothers Innie’. Even though the younger had asked just for cookies and comfort, Felix would find a way to make the maknae’s wishes of seeing his parents come true. One way or another.
He got his phone out of his pocket and pressed his dad’s contact, deciding to have the conversation in English, mindful of his security being Korean mainly.
“Hey my son. How are you doing dear?” his dad’s voice, or rather his own, greeted him.
“Hey dad. I’m doing great. It’s so good to actually be in Sydney again to be honest. I can’t wait for the concert, I’m so pumped y’know?” Felix replied truthfully.
“I think I do son. I think I do. So do tell, do you need something or were you just thinking of your old man?”
“I would have loved to say the second one, but that would be a lie. Sorry.”
“It’s fine love. Now tell me, what did you have on that brilliant mind of yours?”
“Many things. Prime one is the fact that aeroplanes are currently out of Sydney reach.”
“May I ask why?” his dad asked, Felix had such a relationship with him that he could practically hear the raised eyebrow and polite half-smile half-smirk.
“Innie’s family. He invited them to the concert and everything. Booked the flights, the hotels. He didn’t even get the chance to see them before we left Korea. And he is missing them so bad.”
“But then the alarm stroke and the kid’s plans fell through didn’t they?” his dad said with a soft tone similar to the one Lix himself had used earlier.
“Yeah. And his so sorrowful dad. I can’t stand seeing him so sad.” Lix admitted.
“So, what solution did you think of?”
“I thought that if we are quick with it we could have them land in Melbourne before the storm that caused the alarm reached there.”
“What I would have also thought. Do you have his father’s number? So I can contact them and send them info to get to our plane?”
“Yes! I’m sending it to you now. I’m also gonna text Mr. Yang myself so he knows it’s not a fraud. Just to be safe.”
“Okay Lix. I’ll speak with Kate and James so they can get the rest of the crew and prepare the plane.”
“Dad thank you so much for this! He is going to be so happy!”
“Shush my son. I’ve told you, the existence of all these resources is for us to use on family. And he is yours. So, by connection he is mine. Now go keep the kid company.”
“Love you dad.” Lix said softly.
“Love you too kid. Now go! You got stuff to do!”
And the call came to an end just as Felix entered the market to get I.N his cookies. After some minutes looking through several aisles with multiple things lined on their selves he found the sugar-filled comfort his youngest brother was looking for. He paid for the treat and a couple of snacks he and Hyunjin enjoyed and was back on his way to the hotel.
Right as he entered the hotel’s reception his phone pinged.
lemme know when you get here
“Hey” Hyunjin greeted him quietly with a quick hug.
“Hey, how is he? Better or worse after I left?” Felix asked, concern lacing his usually soft facial feautures.
They got inside the room, closing the door behind them easily.
“Not much of a change… he isn’t moody just really sad. So please tell me that you made a call about it…” the older replied.
“Yeah, I called dad. Gave him the phone of Innie’s dad. He will arrange their flight with our private plane. We will just have to arrange the surprise and the transfer from Melbourne to Sydney but that should be easy enough…”
“Okay okay that’s great actually. Let me handle the surprise part and you coordinate the transfer.”
“Okay that works. Let’s just settle in for the night and comfort him without letting anything slip.”
Right about then Felix’s phone received a notification.
Talked with the family and they are boarding in an hour
Make sure to arrange the Melbourne to Sydney transfer!
Yeah I’ll sort that out asap!
Take care, we’ll call in the morning yeah?
Yeah, I’ll call you when I wake up!
Hyunjin has settled on the bed by Innie’s right side as the younger had his face buried in his pillow.
“Yep, they are flying out in an hour. The only thing left to sort out is transfer from Melbourne to Sydney. Let’s count. They are flying out from an airport near Incheon in an hour. So, that’s close to 11 hours? Right?”
“Sounds about right I think”
“I’ll sent both Ronald and Harry. I’ll have them rent a camper bus for it.”
“Good idea. That way they can switch between them and they also can all rest since they can get a camper with beds.”
“Okay, gonna go talk to them. You think about the surprise. I’ll be back before he wakes up for his snack and we cuddle him yeah Hyune?”
“Yep!” Hyunjin replied, excitedly but quietly, afraid of waking up the maknae.
Felix indeed wasn’t long. It was maybe twenty minutes later that he reentered the room this time with one of Innie’s room cards and a smile on his face.
“So? What did they say?” Hyunjin asked, waiting to learn f their drivers could pull it off.
“They are leaving like right now. They want to be there as early as possible. Perhaps even catch a few Zs before Innie’s family arrives.” Lix explained.
“Okay. As for the surprise I was thinking that tomorrow we could arrange like a family gathering, get your parents, mine since they are visiting yours, Chan-hyung’s family and as our baby bread is all like “I’d loved it if my family was here” his family shows up. What do you think?”
“That’s actually perfect. It gives them some time to rest and settle in at the hotel and everything too.”
“That’s what I thought too.”
As Felix opened his mouth to reply Innie started stretching and not wanting to ruin the planning they had going on, the duo paused their conversation. They ended up snacking on the cookies and sweets Felix bought and then crashing to sleep on top of each other like puppies. Jeonjin always said that he didn’t really like physical contact but that was lifted when the ones that asked for it were Felix and Hyunjin. The rest of his hyungs could wait for their turn, the baby bread wasn’t sorry for playing favourites when it came to physical touch.
