I got caught
I can’t believe I’m writing this post. I guess it’s almost inevitable that if you lift for long enough you’re bound to be caught at some point. Especially if you get cocky like I did. I’ve lifted well over £15,000 worth of stuff. I’ve lifted thousands worth of designer clothes from the highest end stores there are, and it was always so easy. I got too comfortable. I thought I’d never be caught. That all changed today.
I’m going out tonight, so went to the mall to lift some clothes and stuff. When I got here I realised I forgot my magnet. I was super annoyed, but rather than go back home just to pick it up, I decided to buy the stuff instead, and then lift the same things this weekend so I could return them. Perfect plan.
So I bought some clothes from various stores, all paid for, but couldn’t resist lifting a VS perfume and some heels. Easy peasy. Last on my list was a tangle teezer. I headed to b00ts. This store was huge, and had cameras EVERYWHERE. I’m used to lifting from a smaller b00ts with blind spots galore. Stupidly, the cameras and sheer size of the store/staff presence didn’t put me off. I thought ‘I’ve never been caught until now, even when I lifted a V3rsace dress, so this will be easy’. I couldn’t resist grabbing some expensive branded face creams from the beauty counter (for those outside the UK- boots has counters for various expensive skincare/makeup brands with staff & tills at each counter). I think that was what got me watched, walking off without paying for the products at the counter. I then created a blind spot (obviously not a very good one) and put a total of 4 items in my bag. I dropped my decoy items and was about to make my exit.
Before I even made it to the door, a guy in plain clothes came up to me and said ‘you, come with me’. For a split second I was confused and was like ‘...what?’, then I almost shat myself when it sank in that he was LP. A security guy came up to me and said the same thing, to come with them. They start walking behind me, and I asked where I’m meant to go. He said ‘look I’ve already said you’re coming with us’. I said ‘yeah I’m coming with you, but can you tell me where I’m meant to go since I’m walking in front of you’ 🙄 So the LP walks in front of me and security behind. I didn’t even have time to be embarrassed, I was too busy shitting myself and thinking my life was over. When we got into the room the LP pointed at the camera and said ‘look up there, everything is being recorded just so you know no one will hurt you’ which was nice I guess. He asked ‘how many products do you have in there?’ I replied ‘3 I think’. He said ‘it’s more than 3’. I said ‘maybe 4?’. He replied ‘it’s more than that’. I said ‘I’m not sure then, I’ll show you’. He grabbed the shopping bags before I could and asked ‘are these stolen too?’ I said no, the receipts are in the bags (THANK GOD I FORGOT MY MAGNET TODAY!). He checked the receipts, but thankfully not close enough to realise the perfume and heels were lifted. He asked me why I did it. I said ‘I honestly don’t know, I’ve never done this before’. He said that’s not an excuse. He asked why I stole from them if I have money to buy from other stores. I said I’m a student and can afford clothes and the necessities but not skincare etc. He seemed sympathetic, and said ‘can I give you some advice? Don’t do this again. In future if you can’t afford it, don’t get it. It’s not worth it’. He asked for ID and proof of address. I had my passport on me, but not proof of address. He asked to see an online bank statement, but I had no signal since we were at the back of the store. He said if I couldn’t prove my address he’d have to call the police. As a last resort, he asked if I could call anyone to confirm my address. I said ‘no... I can’t exactly call my landlord’. He said ‘I’m not going to tell him you’re stealing, just ask him to confirm your address on speaker phone’. So I did. LP totalled up how much I stole (£94), wrote down my details, banned me from the store for 5 years, and said ‘you’ll receive a fine in the post, if you pay it that’s the end of it. If you don’t pay it then you’ll have a criminal record’. He then called mall security. I was banned from the mall for 3 months, and had my picture taken. I felt like I was having a mugshot taken. I was then escorted out by the mall security. On the way he said ‘I just want to give you some advice, don’t do this again. It’s not worth it for things you don’t even need. You were very lucky they didn’t call the police, you would have got a criminal record. Think before you do this again’.
Then I left and went home. I’m still in shock. Moral of the story: don’t get too comfortable. Listen to your gut feeling. My gut was telling me this store was too well guarded to lift from, but I thought I was invincible. I’m going abroad next week for 3 months, so I’ll be taking that time as a break from lifting. I hope my story can help someone in any way. Don’t make the same mistakes I did.
Also, do I really have to pay that fine? I’m not even gonna receive the letter as I’ll be abroad for 3 months from next week, and will live elsewhere when I return. This place was just temporary until my departure. Any advice on the fine is appreciated, I’d prefer not to have a criminal record but I’ve heard that they don’t do shit if you don’t pay

if you think shoplifting is bad you should see what our government is doing
If you see someone shoplifting, keep it to yourself.
Don’t protect the system that keeps us poor.
I was just doing some pre holiday lifting and got a GORGEOUS £1,300 dress, I’m so in love 😍 I still get nervous lifting such high value items, although I guess that’s a good thing. Pics when I get home tonight. Honestly never imagined I’d be wearing 1.3k dresses 😭
Also I’ve been gone for a while cus life was crazy and I became homeless for a sec, all good now. My total count is so off now 🙄
I found another article written in 2017 (so kind of old) about liftblr
“If there’s one thing we’ve learned in our time on the Internet, it’s that people can come up with a moral justification for just about anything. Tumblr shoplifters argue that their thefts are justified because they’re not hurting anybody but massive corporations, and besides they need this stuff to survive.
The only issue with this is that, for the most part, Tumblr lifters aren’t posting bragging pictures of fruits and vegetables that they’ve swiped. No, the preferred hauls are makeup, underwear, and luxury goods. Even if they sell them afterward – known as “boosting” – the optics aren’t great here.” -Geek.com
Apparently theft is only ok when you steal needs even tho it’s literally the same crime as stealing wants
steal only loafs of bread @ the poor. You don’t need anything but dry hard bread and gruel. Treating yourself?? Enjoying life??? those are only for the ridiculously rich.
Tip
NEVER have your ID or any verification on you when you lift.
That way if your were to get caught you can lie about your age. (Lie reasonably) especially if you’re over 18. If you don’t have an ID and you say you’re underage (and say you don’t know your ssn) then it will be hard for them to verify. Most places are less likely prosecute underage kids (NOTE: it isn’t impossible tho). They’ll probably just call the parents and ban them (which is better than a record). If you lie and they find your ID then they’re probably less likely to go easy on you.
~Liftingandliving 😘
Most companies have a policy that if you don’t have ID they have to call the cops in order to identify you. Otherwise if you have only a few things they usually won’t call the cops and will only take down your ID to file an online police report. Also if you say you’re underage they have to call your parents and if you’re parents can’t come pick you up they call police since LP are held accountable if you’re a child and the last time you’re seen is being detained or whatever. The policy is there to save the companies ass if something happens to the minor.
I know I said I would stop at c🔻s but like.. look how cute this stuff is!
I’ll cease now, I need to stop hauling at this store fr..

Current mood: washing my stolen clothes with stolen detergent
Wow this is a £1030 jacket, I wore it out twice and one of the gems has already fallen off the nose. For the price you’d think it would be better quality. Thank god I didn’t pay for it!
Update: after wearing it out SIX times, all the gems on the nose and eyes have fallen off. What a joke 🙄
I suck at posting hauls lately, but here’s today’s mini haul 💛
Total: £34.36

Wow so i was in target today and i brought a bunch of stuff into the dressing room and i happened to have a cami with me folded up i could stick it on one of my empty hangers, but in the end i was like whatever all i really want is this cami
Now thank the lord I decided to rip the tag bc its thick and i wouldnt be able to see a rfid from the outside and thank gd I did bc there was a rfid hidden inside the tag of this 6 dollar cami and my friend tore open a tag on bathing suit bottom and there was one in that too so idk what targets up to but i know alot of people think theyre super easy to lift from but just remember to stay safe
It pays to be paranoid 😎
I always rip tags that are too thick to see through. Hidden RFIDs be everywhere

On the back of the more expensive Claïre"s earrings, they have these “electronically protected sticker on them. It’s fake so you don’t have to peel it off before exiting the store. Claïre"s doesn’t even have towers so you don’t have to worry about it.
so you don’t have to worry about stuff beeping if there’s no towers? and can towers be hidden? xoxo i can’t wait to go raid claire’s akfhj <3
Yes towers can be hidden. Not seeing them doesn’t mean they’re not there. Be very careful with the advice you take on here

Nervousness. Fidgety body movements and looking anxious. Constantly looking from side to side or looking around at other shoppers and employees. Facial expressions of worry, such as wide open eyes, raised eyebrows and crinkled foreheads and gaping mouth. This is usually seen immediately after concealment has already occurred and eye contact is made with the suspect. Releasing nervous tension through exercises such as stretching, cracking knuckles, rotating arms. Walking faster or slower then normal customers. Entering the store and proceeding directly to an area at a brisk pace while eyeballing customers. Walking around the store briskly through aisles while carrying merchandise, attempting to not be seen or followed by associates while concealing the merchandise Refusing assistance from store staff and obviously avoiding contact with others. Asking an associate for directions to an item or department, then proceeding in the opposite direction. Asking an associate unusual questions about merchandise. Removing security tags. Peeling off price stickers. Constantly looking at security cameras. Ducking down and out of employees’ or cameras’ view. Uninterested in shopping. Repeatedly picking up random items with no interest and putting them back. Selecting multiple merchandise at a high rate of speed and not checking prices or sizes. Wandering around store, handling items, lingering here and there, without doing any real shopping. Removing merchandise from one department and depositing it in another, then walking away; creating a depository of merchandise for a later theft. Removing hangers from clothes for no apparent reason. Double hanging clothes. Placing clothing inside of other clothing. Hiding merchandise behind other merchandise. Carrying large seemingly empty purses, bags, or back packs. Placing purse/bag opened in the child seat area of the shopping cart. Large or open purses and shopping bags carried on the arm or shoulder. Handling of bags, backpacks, at the same time glancing around. Carrying a shopping bag from a store that is not in the same shopping center. Carrying items around the store then going into out-of-the-way areas. Constantly walking into a hidden area (Blind Spot) from the view of security. Entering a store empty handed and staring at the Returns desk. Removing a crumpled receipt from their pocket, matching to items on shelf. Suddenly walks quickly to an exit without making a purchase. Opening a wallet and showing cash, in attempt to alleviate suspicion. Wears bulky, heavy clothing during warm weather or coats when unnecessary. Wearing baggy or oversized cloths, hoodies and backpacks. Wearing sunglasses in the store. Caring umbrellas or wearing fake casts. Pushing wheelchairs, and baby strollers. Enters a dressing room or rest rooms with merchandise and then exits with nothing. Repeatedly sends sales staff away by asking for other sizes or colors or distract you with constant chatter. Quickly enter change rooms with a large number of clothes, so staff are not able to check the number of items taken. Backing into a parking space. Leaving the trunk of the car cracked. Leaving another person in the car or at the front of the store. A group entering a store at the same time and then splitting up or come in the same car but enter the store at different times.
Aw shit, I do a lot of these lmao. Bless this post.
