I decided. Past tense. To follow Jesus I decided to follow Jesus why? Because my mum said. Because the Sunday school teacher said. Because that's what I was taught Because his blood was shed. Jesus died for us He healed the sick He woke up from the dead He is your father, your friend, your everything. That's why I decided to follow Jesus. He is the way the truth and the life. That's what they said. That's what they made me believe. So I decided to follow Jesus. Guess they forgot to mention the hard work that comes with Christianity. Because in reality, it's not as easy as it sounds. Read your bible pray everyday if you want to grow 🎶🎶🎶 They sing that over and over and over. But you're too young to realize the hard work that comes with read your bible pray everyday if you want to grow. Because you're so wrapped up in what you think the future will hold and you believe that because you have God, you are bound to BLOW. Into something amazing. Something beautiful. Something successful. Something precious. Because that's what it says in Isaiah 43 vs 4 "Because you are precious in my sight" You read that and you think yes, "I'm precious" because when you think of the word precious, it's something of great value, something that you adore. And in terms of a person it's someone you hold really dear to you, someone special. So therefore, if that person is precious, you wouldn't want to see them get hurt or cry or suffer. But you see just before the excitement. That same bible verse says. "WHEN you pass through the waters, I WILL be with you" And through the rivers, they SHALL not overflow you. WHEN you walk, through the fire, you SHALL not be burned nor SHALL the flame scorch you. For I am The Lord your God. Notice the keyword. "WHEN" But we overlook that. We want the good life, the blessings, the riches, the promotions, the handsome husband, the sexy wife, the best jobs, the joy, the laughter. The perfect life. Well for me anyway. But what is that perfect life? I learnt a couple of weeks ago about perfection. It's not about living a "holy" life, a life without sin. It's about being different, When you do go through those rough times, getting through them with God. Crucifying yourself with him whenever you feel like you've slipped away. We are made perfect through our weakness. Through our struggles. Through the fire. Through the rivers that attempt to overflow us but because He is The Lord, they Have no power over us. My sister always says to me "Nobody told me Christianity was gonna be this hard; If I knew, I might have chosen to be something else" We talked about this the other day and she mentioned this other religion and their ways of doing things just didn't make sense. So she said nahh I'm okay. See we have Atheist. Who just don't believe in God at all. And then there's science that just tries to explain everything. But how do you explain someone being given their sight back by Jesus mixing his saliva with sand? I mean science can't explain that. How do explain throwing people in the fire expecting them to burn and die but the people who were throwing them in died instead? How do you explain splitting the Red Sea just by a stretching a rod? How do you explain bringing someone back to life. Three days after they've been said to have died? Okay so you may say these examples are all in the bible and it's just a book so there's no proof that it actually happened. Okay.Can science explain how people are getting jobs that require you to have a degree but you still get that job without having a degree. Can science explain how certain people still live even when the doctors are so convinced that they won't make it? Can science explain how by just praying which is basically talking; can it explain how by you just talking to someone that's supposedly not there. Bring you solutions, bring you miracles or bring you peace in your heart that you can't even describe? Can It do that? I don't think so. That's why I've now decided. Present tense. To follow Jesus. Not because my parents said. Not because the Sunday school teachers taught me to. Not because I'm told to. Not because I feel to. But because I want to Because he's chosen me Because he loves me Because he's moulding me Though I'm struggling everyday He says the battle I'm fighting is not mine, it's His. Though I have my doubts sometimes, He forgives and loves me regardless. Though I cry, He wipes my tears and says lay it all down at my feet. Reminding me that joy comes in the morning. Though I sin, He washes it all away and is ready to start all over again. Though I stumble and fall, He picks me back up. Though I may go astray, He gives me His word as a lamp for my feet and a light to my path. That's why I've now decided to follow Jesus.
