Connecting the dots between LAPD, ICE and IDF as symbols of apartheid regimes and illegal abductions of Indigenous people
Across continents and struggles, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) serve as symbols of state violence and apartheid-like systems. Though separated by borders, they share a common thread: the illegal abductions, surveillance, and forced displacement of Indigenous, Black, and marginalized people.
In Los Angeles, the LAPD has a history of criminalizing Black and Indigenous people and forcibly removing them from their communities. ICE rips apart families in the name of border security, enacting policies of forced disappearance that echo colonial displacement. Meanwhile, the IDF carries out home demolitions and kidnappings in occupied Palestine, continuing a decades-long campaign of erasure and violence.
These regimes are united in their use of militarized policing to uphold settler colonial states. They operate under the same logic: that some lives are expendable for the security of a privileged few. Recognizing these parallels is essential for building solidarity and imagining a world beyond state-sanctioned violence.
