Patlalche is a word that can be used to describe what we would consider a lesbian. A "Patlachtli" means "wild cacao," or, "a broad, flat thing," and a Patlache is a "Possesor of Patlalchtli." It suggests the phalus and masculinity, and describes a masculine woman, or a woman who is drawn to "the wild cacao." Teatlachhuia, a related word, means for a woman to have sex with another woman. This is a painting of two Patlalcheh women, Nahua princesses or noblewomen, enjoying their love for one another, on the steps of a palace overlooking the ancient capital of Tenochtitlan.

what it actually is: temporary sheds with beds, sheds are the size of prison cells, the same or stricter rules as homeless shelters, a requirement to participate in the non-profit’s program including case management and employment training, security guards controlling the perimeter and “checking for contraband” (no drugs or alcohol use allowed, likely other restricted items.) they’re not meant to house anyone long-term, just long enough to move them elsewhere.
