It’s that time again! After similar surveys in 2016 and 2019 (results here) it is time for a new round of the Death Note fandom survey! Who are we? What content and characters do we like? And how has that changed from what people liked in Death Note 5 years ago? Let’s find out!
Take the survey!
It will remain open until May 31st, after which I will compile the results into infographics that will be shared in June!

you expect me to act like a normal human being? I’m wearing a turtleneck.
“when the shadow comes one step first
the darkness feels bright too.”
i know it’s canon that light is well versed in a multitude of things (ie. sewing, etc.) but the idea of him not having basic life skills is so funny to me. he can’t do taxes and doesn’t have a license and doesn’t know how long to chicken for... he is in the investigation headquarters asking watari if you have to wash rice.

Why Mikami’s actions in the warehouse are off and he might be controlled entirely via DN.
This post is an addendum to casuistor‘s fantastic elaboration as to why it is likely that Near wrote Mikami in the note to secure victory - just as Matsuda speculates. So if you haven’t read it yet, this post might not make a whole lot of sense because I’m not going to repeat most of what she said.
So we’re already operating on the thought that Mikami is indeed manipulated by the note in order to not verify that his Death Note is functional before making his way to yellow box. What I’m going to talk about now is the possible extent to which Mikami’s behaviour was controlled. As Cas already alluded to, there’s some things that don’t seem to add up about how he acts in the finale - and a good possible explanation as to why. Near has so much to gain from Mikami doing the things he does… Special focus here is on the circumstances of Mikami rejecting Light as God - and how fishily non-existent the reasons for it seem to be.
(And really, I need to thank Cas a lot for letting me do this post. I kind of ripped the project out of her hands, then tried to give it back only to have her encourage me do it after all so…. Thanks!)
