It was 1200 years ago that the Egyptian city Heracleion disappeared, swallowed by the Mediterranean Sea.  Rediscovered by Franck Goddio and the European Institute of maritime archaeology, during the past 13 years they have been discovering incredibly well preserved relics

London-based photographer Roman Sakovich gives us a glimpse of the drastic visual differences that substance abuse can cause in his series titled Half. By splitting his subjects' style choices and physical appearances straight down the middle of their portraits, the photographer presents a before and after composite image that shows us two timelines—one of the addict (on the right) and one of the non-user who still has the choice to change his or her fate.

While you might think that a great deal of Photoshop was used to produce each image, Sakovich says that most of the effects were created in-camera. The transformations were accomplished with skilled costuming and makeup design rather than post splicing and merging. The result is an eye-opening look at the damaging effects of drug abuse, especially meth addiction which is known to have a considerable amount of impact on one's physical appearance. While the photographer admits it is a stereotypical and perhaps superficial look at substance abuse, it is, nonetheless, effective.

In 2006 the photographer Carlos Alvarez Montero started to produce the serie about Gangs culture in small cities in Mexico as the result of the strong immigration  During that time, he meet several mans with tattoos all over their bodies, head, face, and among them it was Jimmy, it was when he asked what do the tattoos mean , for what Jimmy responded " They are the scars of a warrior, of wars, of fights  for that when someone sees me in the street they know that i'm ready to fight"

After that, the photographer decide to make a photo-set of portraits with a focus on the relationship between the tattoos and the people who have them.

The aim it's not to search somebody that it's already known, but an unknown young talent. For that the project it's using crowdfunding, and to participate it's necessary to donate a amount and to produce a 3 minutes video. 

"Finding the next Steve Jobs" will select 10 genius aspiring and take them to Miami, the set that will be the background for the training during 3 months.

Hong Kong – home to some 7 million people - is acknowledged as one of the world’s richest cities, with exorbitant luxury property and more Louis Vuitton shops than Paris. But tens of thousands of people in one of the most densely-populated urban districts in the world live in 6ft by 2ft wire cages – sometimes up to thirty in a small room. The cage dwellers are made up of the so-called “working poor,” who cannot afford Hong Kong’s sky-high rents, the elderly who can no longer work and the mentally ill who slip through the welfare cracks. Hong Kong Chinese people actually refer to these unfortunates as “Cage Dogs”.

Unscrupulous landlords charge them around US$200 a month for each cage, which are packed 20 to a room, and up to three levels high. The lower cages are more expensive because you can almost stand inside them, but the conditions are no less squalid. Occupants must share toilets and washing facilities, which are rudimentary. Many of the apartments have no kitchens, forcing their impoverished residents to spend there meagre incomes on takeaway food. The alternative is life on the street.

SoCo – Society for Community Organization – and an individual, Hong Kong social welfare charities social worker Sze Lai Shan, have spent the past 14 years fighting to re-house the cage dwellers. Despite Lai Shan and SoCo’s determined advocacy, the future of the “Cage Dogs” remains bleak, as cheaper labor floods into the former British territory from Mainland China. Hong Kong’s legislature

Academy Award winning director Alex Gibney has composed a riveting, fascinating expose on the controversial website WikiLeaks. The name of the movie is titled “We Steal Secrets, the Story of WikiLeaks” and is set to be released May 24. It has already generated buzz among fans and political foes alike, sparking conversations about the controversial founder Julian Assange and the organization itself. The documentary focuses on the rise and near fall of Assange since the launch of Wikileaks in 2006.
