Misinterpreted
When brainstorming the title for my photo-book I started thinking about the way we as humans misinterpret situations. When describing something we’ve seen to somebody else it sometimes looks different in their imagination compared to reality. The change of translation only gets more different the more the story is told, therefore we end up morphing memories. This concept reminds me of the telephone game. A game used to teach a lesson on gossiping, the idea is that in a short period of time a word or sentence will completely change just from misinterpreting what you’ve heard. This inspired me so I wanted to incorporate the game into my photo book as I feel that my edits capture this concept very well. I took instructions from Wiki how on how to play the game and wrote them onto my back cover. I also made a short statement  on the first page in regards to my idea.
Mind map
This was my way of trying to figure out what images will go where and what my story will be.Â
Developing process
I edited a lot of my photos in photo pea however I brought them into procreate to work on the layouts and aesthetics. I quickly found that a lot of my images where blue or purple based as well as black and white. I decided to keep with that theme so that the pages work well together. Here is a collage of images showing the slight changes I made well editing.Â
Created this cool frame around my image by repeating the photo and gradually changing its scale / saturation. The tree branches now draw the eye towards the centre.Â

Destroying old Polaroids / removing background
Digitally creating destroyed polaroids
Over-laying a film over the photo and adjusting its opacity in photo pea.
Attempting to Digitally scrunch up my image
Digitally giving my image a scrunched paper affect. I would like to actually print the image first and then physically scrunch it as I think it would look much better. I also want to try ripping then reconstructing a photo as well.
I’ve been playing around with editing tools, trying to figure out interesting ways to deconstruct my image. I started with a photo I took that captured two geese in an empty lake at sun set. I like the light rising from the horizon and the house lights reflection on the water, capturing its ripple is beautiful. Going through filters and adjusting colours I experienced multiple techniques that totally changed the image itself. I was actually inspired by the glitch effect so I decided to recreate it in my own way by taking rectangles from my photo and editing the colours till I almost had a collage of the one single work.Â
