O Brother Where Art Thou | Edward & Levi
He hadn’t meant to become angry. No, he would take the higher ground, be the older and wiser vampire, taunt Walker with what he had lost and try to tempt the young man back into the fold.
But this was like sinking back into a familiar rhythm, as though it was only yesterday that they’d had an argument like this -
Only yesterday that he’d seen Walker last look at him this contemptuously, as though Edward, for all his years, was nothing.
He even dared to say that he regretted the friendship. Edward had honored him, though Walker had been nothing but a newborn whelp at the time and he one of the oldest vampires that walked this earth, and Walker threw it in his face and pretended to be regretful.
He snarled, his fists clenching. Then, he turned away and paced.
“And tell me, why shouldn’t I be satisfied with myself?” He faced Levi again, spreading his arms out to indicate their surroundings. Look - this world. All his, ripe for the plucking. “I’m strong. Stronger than my prey. Why shouldn’t I take what I want?”
“How many of those humans you try to care about would give a damn about you if they knew what you were? How many of them would hold themselves back if they had your gifts?” He laughed. “Do you really think, even after all this time, any of their lives are worth saving?”
Levi’s eyes narrowed. Edward was aggressive, he knew that. Many a bar fight had been instigated by the man. But as usual, Levi was never the one to start a fight. He would let the older vampire come to him. And he will, eventually.
“You know, maybe they won’t care. Maybe they will hate me,” Levi smiled. “But they can’t possibly hurt me.” They can’t possibly hate me more then I hate myself. “There is no stopping you, my friend. I know my words are wind to you. But I don’t want you dragging me down with you,” Levi gritted his teeth. “I would rather disappoint you then disappoint myself, again.”
How was he to know that a single confirmation of presence in the room would help her, give her a sense of mind that the person in the corner was in fact dead and she could ignore it. The more they drank, the more– she wouldn’t have to pay attention. Sorcha wondered idly where Sean was at about gave it little thought as he got up and moved behind her to gather the bottle from behind tea cups she couldn’t have reached anyway.
“Get to know me better and know I can drink as much,” she confirmed with a grin, his challenge as it was didn’t fall on deaf ears. She was an O’Connelly it was like asking a fish if they wanted to swim, a challenge. “Aye, well how about you go first, shot for shot and as we drink we get mor tossed and we’ll see what happens?” she beamed, a wide smile across her face. There was no telling where the night was going to lead. But she didn’t like to sleep, so ithere was no telling. “Drink for drink, question for question.”
“Absolutely,” Levi smiled. He poured the pair a shot each. He was glad to have someone that could keep up with him. And she honestly seems like a girl I can get along with. Someone I can tell things and who won’t judge me. But we’ll see about that. It had been almost one hundred years since he actually had a good enough friend to share his past with. I don’t want to get my hopes up.
“I’ll go first then,” Levi nudged the glass towards Sorcha. “Why do you ask if there is anyone else in the room?” It was a strange question to have asked him and it needed an answer.

Her finger brushed against his cheek, smiling at him before the blonde leaned over and pressed her lips against his nose. “Well do me a favor if you don’t mind. Tell me if there is anyone else in the room with us.” She could hear voices, but she didn’t know the language so it was hard for her to understand the woman’s chattering. And with as much as Sorcha had, had to drink her smile didn’t waver. Could be anything now and she wouldn’t care.
“I don’t like daisies,… like roses…. thorns and all. Always worth getting past the thorns.” She gave his cheek a brush with her thumb before she pulled back, getting to her feet slowly and making her way to the cupboards. She was drunk enough not to be careful, a finger flick opening a cupboard. “Got more?”
The woman was a little tipsy, Levi could tell. Sorcha was a little more touchy which he found odd given that hey had just met. “I will surely tell you, I am not expecting anymore guests,” Levi shrugged and got up to help the shorty get the liquor.
“If you get to know me better, you will know that I always have more,” Levi reached far over the woman’s head. From behind a row of tiny tea cups Levi produced a full handle of vodka. And there is a lot more where that came from....a loooootttt! “So how about we play a little game eh?” Levi poured them both a healthy pour and sat back down. “You tell me something about yourself and I’ll do the same,” It is a childish game but it gets better when you are drunker.
O Brother Where Art Thou | Edward & Levi
He looked away, rolling his eyes. Not that much change, then. The same sanctimonious stick stuck up his ass. If Levi had stuck to that resolution for about a century, though, it must have meant that he was serious about being a “virtuous vampire”. This thing wasn’t just a phase - which surprised him. Most of their kind that hunted as he and Levi never stopped for so long - if they even bothered to try at all. Edward sighed; it looked like he wouldn’t be getting the satisfaction of Levi admitting that Edward was right any time soon. “You’re still holding yourself back?” he asked. His eyes narrowed. “You don’t miss the old days at all, at all?”
Levi crossed his arms across his chest. Edward was a nice guy a while ago, but something had changed. In both of them. He was sure that that was the case. We both just went off the rails at the same time. “To you I am holding myself back, but you have gone too far,” Levi frowned with distain in his eyes.
“I miss the friends we were. I miss the talks, the drinking, the women. I don’t miss you sinking your teeth into every thing with a pulse and being so fucking smug about it,” Levi said, poison on his tongue. If it was a fight Edward was looking for, that’s what I will give him. But I hope to God that it does not.
“Should I? Why do you say so Levi? I’m quite awkward around groups of people or well any people. Anyway I enjoy spending time in nature. If I can go get lost in the woods for a few hours I never miss the chance. What do you like to do Levi?”
“The woods are certainly beautiful around here. I can see how one could get lost. I like the night life, personally. I like to see place with no people around. The silence is nice. But I am weird, so pay no attention to me.”
She liked his smile, he seemed to settle though it faltered a moment– she downed the rest of her drink and the last of the battle with it before she tipped their bounty with an offended look. How dare it be gone, it was a front to all irish to be gone. Still she smiled at him, reaching over to touch his face when he seemed to drift away.
“Don’t go too far away, now…” she smiled at him, they were out of booze but she was nice and happily buzzed. Aware her was a Vampire meant little, the buzzing in her head, the sounds of voices around were drowned out for a moment she just wanted to listen to him. Talking to him. “ Tell me about you, love. I’ll listen….. stay with me in the now, yeah? If the past is too hard talk about now..”
Sorcha’s voice brought him back from the back of his mind. It was nice sitting here with her. “I am...I am a complicated person. It has been a long life and most of it was spent in the bottle,” Levi said, while picking up the whiskey. I hope you don’t fail to notice the irony.
“I am just warning you, I am not going to open up to you like a daisy. I mean, you only just climbed in my apartment,” Levi smiled. It may have sounded mean, but it was true.
Cosette grinned as she took out the key to room seven and handed it to him. “There are enough to keep things interesting. I might just think there are more than there actually are because they usually stay here. Honestly I don’t get out much darling.”
Levi pocketed the key with a smile. Cosette was not half bad looking. But she is not the kind of girl to fall for me anyway. Plus she is a more then one night sort of girl. She is too good for you. “Well you should! What do you like to do?” Levi raised an eyebrow and added, “Besides work.” You flirty asshole. Don’t lead the poor thing on.

sorchaconnelley:
Sorcha grinned, taking her own drink as she continued. She could put it away and settling into the sweet stupor often helped to fight the sounds and voices that came with her particular gift. Her eyes shifted to Levi, a wide brimming smile crossing her face. “Maybe…we’re here now, we could look together…”
Sweet chuckling, girl, she couldn’t hear the voices as loudly at the moment. Her brother wasn’t there, but she lifted her head to look into the corner. Pausing before she smiled at Levi. “You want to know the sad sordid tale? I’m here… because I can’t let things go…”
Levi smiled at her laugh. _She seems like a nice girl. _If she did know that he was a vampire, she was not letting on. _But I would never hurt her. _Levi made that promise to himself a long time ago. “I think that would be a wild ride,” He smiled and raised his glass for a toast.
Her tale was all too familiar to Levi. “Who can, honestly?” Levi kept a smile on his face but it was only a mask. His mind was churning away. Piercing guilt and pain began to eat away at his happy mood. Levi quickly filled up his cup again and knocked it back, the amber liquid staying his memories at least for a little while.
O Brother Where Art Thou | Edward & Levi
Taking a step away to give Levi his personal space back, he faced the man and nodded along as though he could understand the desire. Small towns - dull and mundane. likely, Levi would have been the only vampire in town, and where was the fun in that?
“I’ve been well. Supernatural politics, good hunting, interesting people,” he said.
He paused, then added casually, in a tone full of regret, “I helped a friend take over the Dayton area in Ohio a few years ago. I wish you had been there - we made it good hunting grounds for a while. Kill all you like.”
He watched for Levi’s reaction. Now, how much had his friend changed since they’d last met?
Levi swallowed hard. Edward had not changed a bit. He should know my feelings by now. Or is he just fucking with me. You’d think I would be able to tell by now.
“I have been doing fine by myself,” Levi tilted his head and rubbed his neck. “I don’t need or want to hunt like you do,” He stood straight and looked Edward in the eyes.
They had been friends once. They drank together and hunted together. Their split came shortly after Levi’s revelation. When he say Ed killing and hunting for sport, it made him sick. He has no reverence for human life. Once Levi stopped drowning his memories in booze, they took over his whole brain. Sitting under a tree in Central Park in 1923, Levi replayed his mother’s death over and over in his head.
Since then, he had never killed another human. But Edward had.
She gave him a small smile before took a drink, tossing it back down her throat with a grin. Even though it hurt, the losing. The irish woman flash him a wide smile, “Aye, well, …. I find…. that it’s not a thing to live for as… the livin… that’s important..” And the goals, she had reasons for what she was doing, for what she pressed for.
Levi smiled at Sorcha. Maybe the little Irish girl is the next Buddha. Levi reached back and grabbed a glass, pouring himself a splash of whiskey. Hell, if she is drinking I better keep up. “You have a point there, I think I will try that more,” Levi sipped at his drink.
Cosette smiled charmingly at the man. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Levi. I’m Cosette.” She said as she wrote his name down next to a room number. “Don’t worry about it darling. There’s never a shortage of visitors in town. You can have room seven.” She said as she handed him a key.
“Nice to meet you too, Cosette,” Levi smiled. I won’t micd staying here for a few days. “Are there really that many tourists? I got the assumptions that this was a rather sleepy town,” Levi asked. He would rather prefer it to be sleepy actually.

O Brother Where Art Thou | Edward & Levi
“Well, I’m just glad to see an old friend again.” His smile widened.
He hadn’t expected Levi to be alive - and not for him to show his face around Edward even if he was.
Their last parting hadn’t been amicable. Edward hadn’t decided yet if he wanted to hold a grudge over it - but in the meantime, it didn’t hurt to be friendly.
“How have you been? It’s been, what, a century now?”
The way Levi had left his old buddy was less the friendly. Yet, Levi could not blame the parting of ways on himself and refused to. I opened up to him but he kept doing what made him happy. Even if it made me uncomfortable. Edward was not skittish around death and always assumed Levi wasn’t either.
“I have been...drifting,” Levi shrugged. “New York started losing it’s appeal and small towns got nicer and nicer, I just.” That was the truth, the unremarkable truth. “How about you?”
Garrett stood tall, not backing down, not even an inch. He’s come across his fair share of vampires, not hesitating to kill the ones who need put down. Being supernatural and all, Garrett always gives some leeway when it comes to hunting, but the minute they betray his trust, they better watch out. “If any bodies turn up, you will be the one I come looking for. I’ll shove so much vervain down your fuckin’ throat you’ll be begging for mercy.”
Levi scowled at the man. Just because I have fangs does not mean killing people is always on my mind. “Why me first, huh? Why not any of the other supernaturals in town? What have I done to you? Fucking nothing! Unless admiring your truck is a fucking death sentence,” Levi snapped. The last thing I ever want to do is kill some one. That urge started and ended with my mother.
