Jeaneil’s dynamic is such that if any of the Trojans ever ask when was the last time Jean spoke to Neil, he undoubtedly says some shit like, “I go to great lengths to avoid speaking to that devil child more than is absolutely necessary,” but then like a week later his housemates get into an argument in the kitchen while Jean is doing homework on his laptop and he suddenly goes, “You may not want to discuss that here; I am on a Skype call with Neil.” Laila turns to him, incredulous, because “I thought you didn’t speak to him??” but Jean just answers very seriously, “We are not speaking.”

neil and jean are unconsciously attached at the hip the second they’re in the same state. jeremy and jean are with a group of visiting foxes and jeremy asks where neil is. jean just gives him a weird look before stepping back to reveal that neil is literally right next to him, just hidden from jeremy by their size difference. allison walking into the dorm, seeing neil on the couch during movie night and having a full conversation only to be scared shitless when a hand reaches out of the shadows and baps neil on the head, jean having been standing behind the couch. they do not understand why this freaks everyone out.

isn't it interesting how Cat, Laila and Jeremy soften Jean's rough edges, teaching him to open up and find things outside of Exy to care about, whilst Andrew and Neil sharpen Kevin's rough edges, teaching him to stand up for himself and feeding into his obsession with Exy more.
