You should never create anything with a wide audience in mind. The so-called "general audience" doesn't exist; it's a fiction made up by advertising executives. Most of the time, great art and literature is made with the intention of pleasing no more than 4 or 5 specific perverts of the author's acquaintance

if you've been drawing for several hours and the piece doesn't turn into anything, you didn't waste that time. you still drew. art is art, not a product

calling out for my mom in a moment of extreme pain and terror, but taking an aside to explain to the audience that i mean i want the concept of a mother as caregiver and protector to defend and rescue me rather than my literal mom, whose presence would neither bring me comfort nor improve the situation

shaking my head to show that i disagree with this idealised concept of the mother and understand that no human being should be pressured to sacrifice their own personhood for another and that this will inevitably fuel understandable resentment towards one's charges also

Tumblr is good for creative types because the tag system lets you be truly deranged about how much you like it without feeling as Exposed as a Comment Section

Everybody's self conscious Commenting but the tags are a lawless place. People are screaming and barking in there. This keeps the artiste fed
