what are these “resources” that i keep hearing about? i wasn’t aware that rather than an alliance of mutual support the lgbt+ community was actually a dinner party that i have to have rsvp-ed for months in advance so that the host can boil enough spaghetti. maybe i dont want any spaghetti. maybe i just wanna sit down with some friends and talk about my experiences with corrective rape and the continued pathologization of my sexuality in a safe setting and not be threatened with even more rape (!) in the halls of my high school or in a gay bar or when i set up an information booth at a pride parade. maybe this idea of turning us away at the door was exactly what y’all said to trans folks when the acronym was only “lgb” as if the invites had been preordained by God and could not have possibly been made by bigoted and fallible human beings. maybe you didn’t write out the invites for intersex people who are getting their fucking genitals mutilated without their consent but are never included cause they’re not part of the acronym either. maybe the definition of lgbt being for same-sex attracted folks is not only damaging to straight trans people but also to nonbinary people like me who know that what you really want us to do is define ourselves by a binary gender and/or our genitals so you can force us into that mold, so you can decide if we’re “gay enough.” maybe the invites for bi and poly people who don’t define themselves that way either got lost in the mail, who knows, im sure you wouldn’t ever deliberately gatekeep people who literally helped found this movement.

and you know what? even if i wanted some fucking spaghetti, im pretty sure i rsvp-ed over a century ago when any orientation that wasn’t fucking cis perisex heterosexual heteroromantic was a freakish abomination and we were outsiders and dissidents right alongside all of the rest of “the queers.”
