I’ve noticed, especially in online leftist spaces, there’s this idea that you can never be mean to men because it could turn them to the right. So when men are bullied online, them becoming misogynistic is a perfectly reasonable reaction, but when a woman is sexually harassed, assaulted, and bullied by men she can’t even express anger about it, or god forbid become a misandrist lest she be branded a violent feminazi who’s against gender equality. Fucking double standards.

Imagine you’re Joyce Byers and your boyfriend died a few hours ago and you just got done exorcising a demon out of your son and you get back to your house that was already trashed but now there’s also an unconscious teenage asshole with a mullet and a needle sticking out of his neck in the middle of your living room and there’s food all over your kitchen floor because one of your son’s stupid friends put one of the monsters that killed your boyfriend in your fridge. Hot take: Byler being endgame but executed as badly as the rest of S5 would have had a worse impact than what actually happened. Mainly because the general audience would have then blamed Byler for the season being bad, claiming it was catering to the queer audience and ruining the show to do it. Byler would have been even more the butt of the joke than it already is. It would have done so much damage.
