Concept study for Elvish Fashion featuring the Original™ FinBrothers and their Mini Me
Fëanor & Curufin: Splendor. They are wearing Noldor informal daywear inspired by Baroque/Rococo European Aristocracy (17th–18th century), especially the Sun King and the extravagant courts of Versailles. Opulent, luxurious robes with theatrical flair and shimmering footwear. Fëanor is wearing the dramatic gemstones that once belonged to Míriel. Fingolfin & Turgon: Discipline. They are dressed in Vanyarin court fashion inspired by late Ming Dynasty China (17th century). I tried to portray the restrained elegance of high-ranking Ming officials and princes. Layered hanfu, structured silhouette, and minimal jewelry. Refined nobility rather than ostentatious wealth. Finarfin & Finrod: Harmony. They are the most timeless here in my opinion. They are wearing Telerin outdoor fashion inspired by Ancient Mediterranean clothing (particularly Minoan and Classical Greece) mixed with Art Nouveau. Lots of drape and movement, sandals (because the Teleri love walking by the sea), gold jewelry, olive greens, laurel-style headpieces, wrapped waists. I tried to go 'less' historical noble and 'more' idealized gods.

for @tolkientimewarp Day 1: Time Loops!
greatly inspired by @theheirofashandfire's masterpiece A Thread Unraveled, I take the bold premise of a Nirnaeth time loop and wonder instead: what if that, but the version we have in canon is the good ending?
buckle up, it gets angsty >:)
Rating: T | Major Character Death Relationships: Maedhros/Fingon Characters: Maedhros, Fingon, Sons of Fëanor, Maglor Word count: 2,300

If your requests are still open I'd love to see your take on Thuringwethil! 🖤
Love your art so much!
The game Lord of the rings online has an enemy type based on Thuringwethil. They are called Morroval and are tall hot vampire lady. I like to hc that Thuringwethil (and Lhaereth) were mothers of that race. Fallen lower Maiar that were corrupted by Morgoth when he arrived in Beleriand.

Gil Galad's chief councilors and source of headaches.
Two half-elves: one the Eldritch scion of pretty much every royal line—human and elven—and the other, the Fëanorian hardliner that may or may not be an actual Fëanorian. Both are having a dubious claim to your throne and a total disinterest in it at the same time.
Elfbruary Day 8: Arwen the Smith
I noticed in my recent reread that the banner Arwen makes isn't described as embroidered or woven. It's described as "made" and "wrought." Words Tolkien uses for things made through smithcraft. And the materials mentioned for the banner are metals, not any specific cloth.
And then I remembered both the brooch she left for Aragorn in Lothlorien and that it isn't mentioned who reforged Narsil. Arwen is associated with smithcraft, so why not her? :)

@boromir-week day seven | freeform | captain of the white tower
He was a tall man with a fair and noble face, dark-haired and grey-eyed, proud and stern of glance. His garments were rich, and his cloak was lined with fur and he had a collar of silver in which a single white stone was set; his locks were shorn about his shoulders. On a baldric he wore a great horn tipped with silver that now was laid upon his knees.
—The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, “The Council of Elrond”

I love the concept of Tooks. "Everybody in the Shire is very very businesslike and respectable and has no use for adventures except for this one entire family of mad lads who also run the municipal government"
The decision by the kings of Arnor to name the Tooks rightful thanes of the Shire was actually a 3000-IQ play by the Witch-King of Angmar to keep the Tooks far the fuck away from him
Ya gotta get 'em from where they'll least expected it

Drawing another happy Celebrian for my and elronds mental health 😌✨️
Just a short haired Lúthien, coming into her power for the first time
I adore the elves of Tolkien, because you read The Hobbit and you think oh, they're a little weird and fey-like. Then you read The Lord of the Rings and you're like they're very alien, but Thranduil just seems to be Like That™. Galadriel, Celeborn and Elrond are pretty chill actually. Yeah Glorfindel is like the strongest fighter ever and Cirdan's a little off-putting but they're most likely outliers. Legolas forgets he is surrounded by non-elves half the time and trolls the rest of the time, but otherwise he is not weirder than Aragorn.
And then you get to the Silmarillion. And you encounter the Noldor.
Fëanor "spirit so strong his body cremated itself" and Maedhros "got amputated for reasons™ being suspended on one of the highest moutains and probably tortured by Evil Incarnate but got over it in a week". Fingolfin "calling Morgoth to a 1v1 seem like a reasonable solution" and Fingon "climbed Melkor's highest mountain right after having survived the most hostile, icy, treacherous cliffs in existence while singing, to rescue his estranged situationship". Finrod "teeth count as a plausible weapon against a werewolf" Felagund and Galadriel "just in it for the possible crown and this very pretty Sindar I just met".
And that's not even touching Elwë "will marry a goddess at the first opportunity" Singollo or Luthien "sang so well the notoriously inflexible keeper of souls & Judge of the Valar let her and her man have another chance at life". Or whatever Ëarendil was on.
Reading about the elves of Tolkien when your first encounter with them is the Third Age brings the slow realisation that they are not wise and good and all-knowing. The most batshit crazy ones are just already in Mandos or Valinor (except Glorfindel, he cannot be Contained). They are actually the most chaotic people in the lengendarium and are trying very hard to leave behing a dignified image, and it's the funniest thing ever.

ELROND & ELROS: SONS OF SIRION
i wanted to do a painting for @tolkienfashionweek but alas, time was not on my side so please accept an illustration. featuring elrond and elros in what i have decided is the traditional masculine attire commonly worn in Sirion, but with extra bling since they are, after all, royalty.
so thinking mostly in terms of sand and sea, i drew mostly from Indo-Arab maritime cultures for this one, including the Marakkar privateers along the Malabar coastline. features practicalities like rough/‘sailcloth’ textured shirts, loose harem trousers, ‘strung’ jewelry, simpler and lighter designs as opposed to heavy brocade, lots of light patterned shawls, kohl eyeliner, and headscarves.
my specific headcanon for this picture is that Elrond and Elros posed for and got this painted close to the end of the First Age for a specific purpose, ie to be sent to Elwing via one of the departing ships at the close of the War of Wrath, and she has it hanging up in her tower, although it’s also a bit depressing because the Sirion background is rendered in light, uncertain charcoal because Sirion no longer exists at that point, and the twins don’t live in climes where they can walk around in outfits like that without freezing to death. also, Elrond never sees that earring again because Maglor someone borrows it for a performance and messes up putting it into their ear and threading it through the multiple holes, and it ends up welded there forever.
what the fuck
ohhhh you elfsturbating 😧😲
