Thank you! I didn’t “make” this set but I styled it together from custom separates. I am intimidated by the process of wholly creating garments/following a pattern, so I tend to commission items after a lot of research, both on what I’m going for and the item I can find. But I’m also fascinated by how historical silhouettes pop up in contemporary off-the-rack clothing and how close they can approximate the real historic thing with the right undergarments or some additional tailoring/altering. so effectively, I’ve gotten to a lot of my historical costume wardrobe by masterfully beating around the bush, lmao.
This is the full body picture:
It’s a separate cotton sateen shirt and skirt from (the now defunct) eshakti. Both are under a custom made waistcoat made for me by lunar rose costuming, I asked her to use a pattern from Black Snail Patterns #0220 which she did, but she said in hindsight she wished she had just drafted her own pattern for me. I’m wearing a combination chemise, petticoat and corset underneath it all.
I altered the shirt torso to be more fitted and altered the sleeves and added internal support to them to emphasize The Puff™️. For the vest, I made a little fit adjustment with darts on the back waist because I got a much better corset since commissioning the vest. (See stock photos of vest and skirt below).
I paired everything with an antique chemisette/dickey that didn’t like to stay put, and an antique top hat. the thing you’re thinking of is a chatelaine but what I’m wearing is an antique watch fob, without the watch. It has a similar function in that it clips onto my waistband and holds something that I would like to easily access, but in this case I don’t have a pocket watch. I put a broken off stick pin jewel on there to replace it.
