Party Prey-lude
(A preview of some ghoulish giggles coming in 2017 (hopefully!).)
All it took was one mistake. Â That mistake came in the form of a raised tree root catching a shoe. Â Fleeing without focus proved to be the downfall of the footwear's owner. Â Trey Sherfale hit the dirt with a breath expelling thud. Â His fear was greater than any landing pain. Â But the root's grasp outranked fear. Â It took precious seconds for the young man to pull his foot free. Â And then it was too late.
Sounds of footsteps staggered closer as a shadow rose over Trey. Â His terror-wide eyes stared into the decayed face of one that no one wants to see - a zombie! Â The cranium captivated corpse opened its jaws wide as it reached for the screaming man's brown haired scalp.
"Roger!" Â Someone placed a rotting hand on the zombie's exposed shoulder joint. Â He cast an irritated glare at the intruder. Â Missing skin and failing muscle structure did little to hide Laura's disapproving expression. Â "Count Hearsehel promised a buffet at the party. Â Do you really want to waste your appetite now?"
Visions of sliced brain lobe and other savory cerebral snacks passed through Roger's consciousness. Â Maybe, he could wait... just a little longer. Â Living warmth from this human's shaking flesh tingled his outstretched fingers. Â He was so close right now! Â Roger looked from Laura to Trey and back again. Â Finally, he asked, "Just a nibble?"
Laura shook her head. Â She turned and shambled further into the woods. Â
Roger gave Trey one more ravenous look which sent shivers down his spine. Â Then the zombie trudged away, following his rotting-red haired friend.
Trey leaned back against the tree. Â As the nerves slowly worked their way through his body, his gaze drifted skywards. Â Being in the woods suddenly lost all appeal for this frightened soul. Â Seeing a large group of bats wasn't the scary part. Â It was the harpies and several variations of griffin hybrids with the bats that sent Trey's panic into action. Â He leapt to his quivering feet and raced for the nearest city. Â

A Tale From Leloni Tabbyraâs Peculiar Fables
Hereâs an example of some of the odd whimsical writing youâll find on my site.
Space Slinky
In the color-absorbent shadow of space, adventure beckoned in all forms. Â It was that beckoning which lured two young travelers into the cosmos. Â Despite the constant life-ending dangers lurking around every corner, Jocko and Sally lived long, adventurous lives. Â Unlike many people in their field, the duo survived into their gray-haired years due to one unlikely ally.
Another typical day saw the elderly couple strolling along the sidewalk of a perfectly normal galactic town. Â Jocko stopped to readjust his space sneakerâs ankle support plate. Â Stepping ahead of her faithful companion, Sally stretched as she walked around a corner. Â She barely had time to see the sickly-green tentacles lash out of the shadows and snatch her up. Â As Jocko finally rounded the corner, he too was plucked up in a tentacle constriction. Â The duo cried out in disgust and annoyance as their captor looked them over.
âWell, well, looks like my luckâs finally improving,â the creature sneered. Â âI know some researchers whoâll pay plenty for a couple of ancient humans to dissect and study.â
âLet us go, you irksome Tentaclon!â Jocko demanded.
âOr else,â his companion growled.
The round shape of the Tentaclon shook as its jaws laughed heartily. Â Tears rolled down the creatureâs eye stalks as it reveled in such, typically human, drollness.
An approaching sound drew Tentaclonâs attention towards that corner again. Â An arc-shaped shadow flipped itself along the ground. Â Tentaclon gasped in horror. Â âWhat in the world?â
Accompanied by a clinkity sound, a small wiry being flipped around the corner.
âSpace Slinky!â the couple called out.
With a few quick flips, Space Slinky stood before Tentaclon. Â The creature chuckled as another of its tentacles picked up the strange little arc-shaped object. Â âAnd just what is a Space Slinky going to do to me?â
One mighty ram to the face gave Tentaclon its answer.
That momentary pain was enough to allow the couple to escape Tentaclonâs viney clutches. Â Surprisingly spry for their ages, the seniors raced well out of Tentaclonâs reach. Â They turned to watch their ally in action. Â Tentaclon attempted to crush its new quarry. Â But Space Slinky easily flipped through its tentacles. Â An ever-increasing number of Tentaclonâs grasping tentacles joined the chase. Â Space Slinky twisted, rolled and flipped all over Tentaclonâs form, making capture impossible. Â Before Tentaclon knew what was going on, Space Slinky had tied its tentacles into a fearsome knot that would incur the jealousy of the most advanced of nautical knotters.
With little more than a clink in the creatureâs direction, Space Slinky flipped over to the elderly couple. Â It allowed Sally to gently pick it up.
âThank you, Space Slinky,â she cooed.
âWeâd be lost without you, old friend,â Jocko said.
Space Slinky altered its arc into a heart shape showing its affection for the duo. Â The trio walked away towards their next adventure leaving Tentaclon to its knotty fate.

How About Animation Right for a Change?
Y'know something that annoys me? Â Everyone just ADORES pissing oceans about what's wrong. Â However, when something is done right or even shows traits of being right, it's shoved in the closet or completely ignored. Â Cause, y'know, it doesn't fit the whiner's agenda. I've just seen an article about how She-Ra tried and failed to break the male-dominant grip on kids' shows and the toy aisle. Â A lot of the points made are very valid and still hold true today. Any shows which did a decent job of incorporating girls into the cast not simply as strong protagonists but also as honest-to-goodness members of the team were conveniently not mentioned by the writer. Â All they cared about was proving "the Smurfette model". Let's start with Thundarr the Barbarian. Â The sorceress, Ariel, is as much a member of the group as Ookla and Thundarr. Â Yes, she is the single lady of the trio. Â She has a sharp wit and gets captured off and on. Â Ok, there's your stereotype. Â However, Ariel returns the favor by saving the guys. Â She uses her magic to actively join in fights. Â Ariel is an actual team member whom the guys rely on. Â But of course, she's not considered in the article. How about Space Stars' Elektra and Jan? Â Again, you have token women who are every bit as important to the team as the men. They are neither 'girly' nor weak. Â Jayna and her twin brother Zan are a good duo. Â Firestar doesn't just round out Iceman and Spiderman's trio, she's as much an equal contributing member as they are. Â Inspector Gadget's Penny; Rescue Rangers' Gadget; the list of good female team members, both before and after She-Ra, goes on. Don't forget those fluffy little gremlin knockoffs, the Popples. Â There were eight ladies compared to five guys. Â And I kid you not, most of them - especially Party - were batspit insane. Â Again, you have proof of both genders playing together just fine. Then there's the big momma of them all - Rainbow Brite. Â She was strong, hard-working and valued every member of her team. Â Rainbow gave girls a glimpse of what being a good leader was about. Â Her show may not have been amazing but she was a merchandising explosion. But of course, none of these matter to an article writer with a single-minded agenda of hate. Â Do stereotypes persist? Â Yes. Â Are the animation and toy aisles still skewed to favor certain things to each gender? Â Absolutely! Â To claim that She-Ra was the first or only attempt is wrong. Â Even moreso, some attempts did a far better job than She-Ra did. Â Yet, they receive little to no recognition for what they did right. Â Maybe if the things that did get it right were focused on more then we would see more positive changes in programming. There's two ways to handle a situation. Â Sit and whine about what's wrong. Â Or create the right things that you want to see. Â Which do you choose? Â Â Â Â Â Â
