The works Baja 1000-prepped SAAB 96 V4 of Erik Carlsson and Ingvar Lindqvist. The car brought them to third place in 1969, behind actor James Garner's AMC SC/Rambler. Another privately entered SAAB 96 came first, driven by Swedish-Americans Ingvar Lindqvist and Sven Sundqvist.
Fun fact: Actor Steve McQueen also participated in this race, but DNF:ed. However, he was so impressed by the SAAB:s, that he asked to try Mr. Carlsson's car—which he was granted! The 'King of Cool' has therefore driven a works rally SAAB.
