In the 1960s, Ferrari dominated the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Ford, determined to dethrone the Italian champion, built the GT40.
Early versions were fast but fragile. Through trial and error, working with visionary car designer Carroll Shelby, Ford ironed out the wrinkles.
In 1966, the GT40 roared back at Le Mans. Not only did it win, but three Fords claimed the top podium spots, crushing Ferrari's reign. The GT40 went on to win Le Mans four years in a row, solidifying its place in racing history.
