Hey so is anyone seeing this willing to help me? I’m writing something right now, and one of the main characters has type 4b curls. I want to describe the care they put into it, and while I’ve done a good bit of research (they’re wearing it in crochet braids, satin bonnet, sesame oil, etc) but I’m struggling with conditioner.
See the story is set in another world that has a different level of technology, and a lot of things, like conditioner and shampoo, aren’t available. I’ve tried looking for alternatives and haven’t been able to find any. I was wondering if anyone had anything they could use instead of conditioner, or what was in the conditioner that you do use that this character can use in their hair. Can anyone help me?
...I made another one.
I couldn’t bring myself to continue working on the beanie today (3 items in the set, and the yarn had kinda just become annoying to work with) so I decided to mess around and knit myself a pin cushion!
Here’s it without the pins:
And it with the pins:
You’ll notice they’re all tapestry needles because I can’t actually sew, so I don’t have any of those to put in there. Still, I think it turned out well!
This is my other project, which I am planning to make a small stuffed animal out of. This will be the foot. Here is my hand for reference.
These aren’t even knitting needles I’m using, they’re yarn needles, and it is a bitch, let me tell you. But I like how it looks so far.
Update:
It has been completed! I’m actually really happy with this! It came out much better than I expected. I really hope I can find some proper knitting needles before attempting to make a whole doll because flimsy plastic tapestry needles are not fun.

Hey guys, been a minute! I moved houses yesterday so I haven’t had much time to knit, but I have some stuff I’m working on! This is going to be a beanie to match the gloves I was making before. It’s slow going, but it’s certainly going.
Also if you are in Canada, Espace Tricot is owned by a black woman as well although many may not have known. A lot of the yarn companies are indie dyers so please support them especially since a lot of yarn festivals were canceled due to COVID-19
Okay so I googled them and remade the list with working links so it’s more accessible, social media links are most likely present somewhere in the websites/shops linked here if you want to follow them (it was taking too much to list everything :/)
if I made any mistakes (with links or anything) dm me and I’ll edit

Them: wow I love your scarves! How much for you to make me one?
Me: $45
Them: for a scarf?!?!? That’s way to expensive
Me: I’m not even paying myself minimum wage with that price.
So how much would I cost if I was making minimum wage? This is the formula for pricing:
materials + (hours)wage + profit = price
Minimum wage in Colorado is $11.10. This yarn was 25$ (without tax). It was very nice yarn. it took me about a week and I knit while watching movies. Let’s say the movies were all 1.5 hours long and I watched one movie a day. That’s 10.5 hours. What about profit? There was a cool $10 yarn at the store I had my eye on. So let’s say I want my profit to be $10.
So: $25 + (10.5) 11.10 + 10 = $151.55
That $151.55 for a scarf
So that $45 is nothing. That’s more than 3x less than I should be charging.

I took a break on the blanket in order to start on a request of one of my friends for a set of gloves for him! I was able to finish the first one in a day, 5 hours of work. This is the final result!
I finished the set of gloves I was making for my mom, but I don’t have a picture of them. The second one turned out almost the same as the first, just with it sewn together a bit better. (I did have to do it twice because I messed up originally, and had to undo 3/4s of it.)
Now I’m working on a blanket for my friends birthday! I just started it so this is all I have:
The yarn is Big Twist oatmeal acrylic.
I wanna follow more knitters (crochet is fine too) so interact with this post if you do yarn craft and want me to check out your blog (it doesnt have to be a knitting blog necessarily)
te.rfs and right wing do NOT interact
I don’t know how popular of an opinion this is but yarn stores should be legally obligated to post a swatch of each yarn. Am I getting gradient or am I getting stripes? Am I getting variegated? Funfetti? I’ll never know! But I sure would like to find out before I buy the yarn and put time into it just to find out the beautiful pastel rainbow cake looks like a Care Bear migraine after it’s knit.
I always assume multicolor is abrupt color changes and go from there unless it’s in a cake and you can clearly see a gradient with stripes I just say fuck it because I can NEVER cast on the right amount of stitches to look like stripes it’s just 2-3 full color rows them a half color change so I don’t like stripe yarn
Almost half way done! The mistake actually isn’t even that noticeable unless you look really hard! The colors are growing on me!

This is the best beginnings of a scarf that I made! I finished it about a week and a half ago, and this is the finished product!
It’s nearly four feet long and used up the entire skein of yarn but I am very happy with it!
Guessing how much yarn you need is hard! I think for worsted weight at 40 stitches in knit stitch you need about 400-500 yards
Yeah, I’m still getting the hang of estimating like that. Honestly would have liked it to be a bit longer, but I ran out of yarn.
And my current project, a pair of fingerless mitts for my mom! This is the in progress shot, as well as my pfp.
This is the first one once I finished it! I quite like how it turned out and am planning on making myself a pair after I finish these.
