As I also said on my facebook earlier, Comics Alliance? Fix your byline system! (yes, everytime.) CA Staff didn’t do this and you do this with LBFA inc and friends ALL THE TIME! In a world where you know people don’t give writers and artist proper credit, this needs to stop. (end rant)

COMICS, EVERYBODY! THE HISTORY OF STAR-LORD EXPLAINED

With the still-can’t-believe-they-actually-made-this-one Guardians of the Galaxy opening this weekend, it’s time again to break down the convoluted history of comics in the recurring feature we call Comics, Everybody! Courtesy of cartoonist Chris Haley of Let’s Be Friends Again and colorist Jordan Gibson, the subject of this edition has an uncommonly strong claim to the title of unlikely hero. Or at least, unlikely movie star. That’s right, we’re talking about Star-Lord, the Marvel Comics space hero created by Steve Englehart and Steve Gan.

Whether you’re new to Guardians and Star-Lord and curious to learn more about his ridiculous history or you’re a hardcore Marvel nerd looking to Um-Actually this feature into oblivion, you’ll be sure to enjoy this special tribute to the galaxy’s newly famous nobody.

Comics, Everybody: The History of Magneto Explained!

With X-Men: Days Of Future Past having just eclipsed some amazingly huge number of ticket sales around the world, it’s time again to break down the convoluted history of comics in the recurring feature we call Comics, Everybody! Created by Eugene Ahn (aka Adam WarRock) and Chris Haley of Let’s Be Friends Again and colorist Jessica Marrs, the subject of this edition is the always dapper mutant master of magnetism, Magneto.

Whether you’re new to Magneto and curious to learn more about his history or you’re a hardcore X-Men nerd looking to Um-Actually this feature into oblivion, you’ll be sure to enjoy this special tribute to Marvel’s mutant revolutionary.

1- comics adult Magneto pictured with brown hair NOPE. He had white hair in A Fire in the Night which portrays the death of his daughter Anya.

2- “revealing their mutant powers” NOPE they had HYPOTHETICAL discussions about HYPOTHETICAL mutants that could, maybe exist, whatdyaknow. But they did keep getting in debates on the topic. (And when they do show one another’s power, Magneto is very quickly MAGNETO AWAY so there was no time for discussion)

3- “due to his respect and relationship with Xavier” well that’s a way to put it, but there was more to it (such as believing he had inadvertently killed Kitty Pryde in #150, his relationship with Forrester Lee, the effect of being aged down then aged up & so on).

4- …. not even bothering to explain why he left the X-Men the first time and just jumping to Fatal Attraction - and saying that removing Wolverine’s adamantium was the big deal in Fatal Attraction rather than the earth wide EMP that had hundreds to thousands casualties >_>

5- *sighs* Yes I do also remember when Comics, everybody was funny but including the Xorn panel does not make this funny and isn’t pertinent to magneto on account of the retcon.

6- … skipping over Genosha and House of M.

We always end up having to leave things out, as that’s just kind of the nature of trying to super-condense a lotta years of story into a small space, but we’re sorry if the parts we left out were parts you’d rather we have mentioned.

Euge and I must have read Fatal Attractions a million combined times as a kid and literally Wolverine getting his adamantium pulled out of him is the only thing I remember from it, so yeah, I don’t feel bad at all about acting like that was the most important thing that happened.

Also, we’re not perfect. We check Wikipedia and Marvel Wiki and ask friends and use our own memories and try to get stuff as right as we can, but we can only do the best we can.

As to whether they’re funny or not, all we can do is try to make each other laugh when we’re working on them and hope for the best.

That’s a bummer if you didn’t like it, but hopefully you’ll like the next one better.

We’re trying our best.

Err, you’re probably right about Fatal Attraction (in term of how the story is framed, cuz it was a pretty shitty event and also comics always care more about shit that happen to characters the audience knows & love than to what happens to countless anonymous people who are just thrown in for the shock value).

I still think it’s sad to not even mention Genosha in a history of Mags, and Hair is Serious Business and his were totally white during Fire in the Night. The rest of my criticisms were, frankly speaking, very nitpicky. I like being nitpicky about the characters I love, because what’s the point of being a nerd of one isn’t super nitpicky?

These things are hard to put together and the writing sessions for them must sound like domestic situations to the neighbors when Euge and I are working on them, because we both get so loud/worked up/excited about them.
