The long roads we travel // Hailey and Layla
More than she cared to admit, Hailey missed her sister. Everytime she came around to visit, her heart soared. As always, she scanned her sister’s body to see what fancy outfit and jewelry she would be wearing today. It was something she had given up as she chose Cain and her baby but she still envied Layla and her fantastic fashion.
"I’m very happy," she nodded in response, leaning down to kiss her son gently on the head. No matter what she envied, this life is everything she truly wanted and more. "Cain is the best husband. I—," she trailed off as she saw what Layla scooted close to her. It had been so long since Hailey had seen one of those. "Cain doesn’t want me to use my family’s money for stuff. Pride and all that. But if it’s a gift..," she concluded as she took the credit card from the table. "Let’s go shopping! We have loads to catch up on too. Rumor has it that you are spending a lot of time with Jasmine."
Every time she braved the East to see her sister, Layla always dressed in the newest clothes as though a walking runway for what Hailey was missing from her old life. Usually, she left behind a bracelet or other trinket to liven up the former star's simple wardrobe. After all these years and changes, Layla still took care of Hailey the only way she knew how.
Watching as the mother of one froze on the sight of a familiar friend, little sister smiled proudly. "It is a gift...from Daddy and me to you. You deserve it after all. One shopping spree never hurt any Greaser ego permanently." Standing she looked around for the diaper bag, it had the sweet nostalgia factor of something homemade, she supposed. As she picked it up, she set it on the table as she began spilling all the good gossip of her life, "I'm a sort of second, you could say. She needs all the support she can get as Hunter is preparing to pull all the stops to sway our side his way. The women have to band together to prove whatever he can do, we can do better."
