As a child, I was given Dave Pelzer’s autobiography “A Child Called It” by someone, and far from helping me seek help, or making me speak up about the oddities of my childhood, it stopped me from doing so because even though I was occasionally beaten up - I have stitches to my body and skull as souvenirs from my childhood - I wasn’t having it even remotely as bad as Dave.
