in my flop era

This was asked to me a while ago now (sorry for the late reply ;_;) so i wanted to explain a bit more about it.

Oof, lets starts with the brushes.

Sooo this are the brushes i frequently use

And for the shading ways i'll just try to explain my best to put it into words. So i follow a pattern; i start lightly to lay down mid tones first, then mildly darker and then remark with stronger shades, and at the very end i do the lights and minor details

Take this portrait study i did as an example; you can see what i mean in a better way. (I used other brushes but i hope the idea can be understood either way bc it's the method that matters) I started by laying out the peach of the skin, then carve out eyes mouth, nose and eyebrows, then i airbrushed the blush, got a darker shade to keep carving from bigger to minor details (in this case the wrinkles)

By "darker shades" i don't mean straight up dark, i don't tend to use much the layer modes and rather use my (very little) knowledge on color theory. For shading, instead of going darker in the same hue, i actually go warmer plus darker, i change the hue to a warmer tone so that way the whole piece doesn't look muddy in the end but more harmonious.

*burp* well after a full mental breakdown and existential dread i think i'll revive this blog little by little. Starting with my beautiful homonculus fanchild.
