As always, I'm not completely sold on Law's characterization but official contents during trying times is always welcome! I'll leave an extended summary.
Part 1 recap:
The story takes place during Law's North Blue piracy years. Law and the Hearts (Bepo, Shachi, Penguin) battle a notorious pirate crew, which ends with Law defeating the enemy captain but falling into the ocean. His old sword is shattered into pieces. One of the captives in the enemy ship, Hakugan, saves Law's life. As a gratitude, the Hearts escort him and other captives back to their hometown Welbems. The island's northern side is occupied by Nagels Pirates. The two orphans - Hakugan and his younger sister, live at a southern village. Hearts take a few days off at the village to recharge themselves. Bepo, Shachi and Penguin decide to develop a naval combat style to help their captain in future, while Law decides to buy a new sword.
Part 2
Law wakes up sweating as he's still adjusting to the island's summer weather. He changes to his yellow jacket. Hakugan's sister comes to nag at him for oversleeping and they run a debate back and forth until Law leaves the room.
Everyone has gathered at the breakfast table. Apparently other than Law everyone else are decent cooks so they're not used to eating someone else's home-cooked meals. They devour some fish grilled by Hakugan without bothering the cutleries.
The fish is called Bembem, the dish is a unique delicacy from the island. Penguin admits his loss as a cook this round, but he's determined to beat Hakugan's cooking (and win everyone and Captain's heart again) next time. Law thinks Penguin would probably beat Hakugan if the overall culinary skills are compared.
Everyone else resume their training while Law personally meets Hakugan. He consults about the local sword shops. he wants to bury the remaining bits of his old sword somewhere too. Hakugan suggests their home garden as a spot for burial and asks Law if he could join him in the sword funeral. Eventually, they do the funeral ceremony together.
Hakugan takes Law to a weapon shop. He suggests a flashy sword, but Law dismisses it because it wouldn't survive difficult fights. They head to the next shop. (Law takes his hat off due to heat, Hakugan fanboys over how cool Law looks but Law brushes it off).
The next shop is less flashy, the owner asks what they want. Law tells him to show the best sword regardless of the price. The owner brings a sword which can allegedly "cut the moon", but Law passes verdict that it's a scam. They leave the shop.
It's getting too hot so they return home. They find Nanagi and Bepo playing on the slide. Nanagi interrogates why they're so late. Law plays mysterious and says "we went to pass some adult time" (pretty clear innuendo to red light district) which makes her furious, although she doesn't understand it properly. She calls him "Pervert Law", in return Law gets mad as well. Others are chilling at the beach so Law changes to a Hawaiian shirt.
They play dodgeball, Law is unreasonably brutal, no mercy towards a little girl either. Nanagi acknowledges Law as a strong person, the unusual sincerity throws Law off.
They do a polar tang startup and Hakugan tests his steering skills, everyone is impressed by how quickly he learns.
At night, Law studies about the Nagels pirates and local conflicts, and pays attention to a guy named Sheronia.
Next morning, Law and Hakugan visit the remaining weapon store in the island. It appears to be a worn out shop, the items are allegedly real deal but too quirky to be handled by normal people. Law takes a liking to a sword but decides that's not it, it's the same as his previous sword, he needs a stronger one.
When the shop owner hears the name of Law's sword, he asks Law about it. Then he says he can guide Law to a sword he might like. It's the "best", more like the "worst" sword he knows of. Law doesn't mind.
It takes them over two hours to reach their destination, a mountaintop shrine. The sword emits an ominous energy that leaves Hakugan frozen in his place. Law moves ahead to reach it. It's a sword longer than him and the markings look like a graveyard. The name is Kikoku.
The shop owner informs them he studied about the sword in his younger days and tried to fetch it from the shrine, but it was apparently too dangerous. The sword has been there for 200 years, rumors say it ruined nations and caused its wielders to die. There had been only one person, a Wano samurai, who could master this sword.
Law tries to pick it up and cut a rock but he feels his energy being sucked in. The old man urges him to drop it (he does), and suggests they should leave. Kikoku is known for absorbing the life force of its wielder, so it can kill a weak person or make them lose their sanity and attack own allies.
Law sets his goal to master it. He needs something like this to take down Doflamingo. (There's a poetic line about Law being known for his cool, dry nature but that's because he's a captain and has a mission to take down Doflamingo, while in reality, there's a passion beneath him "shimmering like magma.")
Law decides to remain there as long as it takes to master the sword. Hakugan wants to stay too, but Law tells him to first go back and let everyone know about it. When Hakugan leaves, he begins training.
Meanwhile, the Hearts have been training themselves. Shachi and Penguin are learning to shoot water bullets. When they hear the news from Hakugan, they respect Captain's decision and carry on with their own preparations.
48 hours has passed since Law came here, Hakugan helps him out and hands him food when he asks for It. Law is now able to fully lift the sword but he still can't unsheathe it. The only way it can be mastered is by using Haki. Law can't use haki yet.
He theorizes that he should try to awaken his strongest emotions and see if it works. The certain feathered brothers pop up in his mind....
He feeds all his rage into Kikoku and, in a twisted delight, he's happy to finally be able to unsheathe it. But Kikoku strongly rejects it and makes Law almost attack himself. Hakugan throws himself at Law and gets injured by the process.
Law gives him first aid while reflecting on Hakugan's action. He realizes he ignored Kikoku's own will and treated it like taming some wild animal rather than trying to understand it. He holds Kikoku gently and remembers his beloved people. The feeling of love flows from his fingertips into Kikoku. Law screams within his heart that he wants to be strong.
There are people I couldn't protect. That's why I need the strength to protect the people who will be with me from now on.
"So lend me your strength, Kikoku!"
It works. Kikoku accepts him, and Law is able unsheathe it and cut some large stones.
Right when they're about to celebrate, the remaining Hearts and the mayor come running. The Nagels kingdom is launching a full on invasion in their village, and they're badly outmatched. The mayor bows to Law and asks for his help. Law tells him not to do something like that so easily.
Everyone starts climbing down from the Mountain. When Law is about to leave, a hand made of mud grabs his leg. Then the lump grows and turns into a pitch black version of his own self.

Notes
One Piece Academy is an ongoing official One Piece spinoff that releases in Monthly Saikyo Jump. In the magazine, the chapters are roughly 40 pages, but they're divided into two parts and released bimonthly on the official site.
Not all chapters are translated. Untranslated chapters can be found here.
Like most spinoffs, the original author isn't involved in its writing. However, it has been confirmed that Oda himself decided the nicknames exchanged between characters (Cora and the SHs) in the donquixote brothers arc.
For latest chapters, check the official site. It removes access to older free chapters with addition of every new chapter.
Here's the author's Twitter.
At the moment, I'm only translating specific chapters or arcs that feature Law. This post is updated after each new translation. I may translate the remaining chapters eventually, but I need time.
I've started typesetting the chapters, so if you want, you can wait until the quick translation links are updated.
Renji is my favorite character, but my surprise exceeded my delight at seeing him as Ichigo's counterpart on the cover of the JET illustration collection. I would like to know if there is a reason why you chose Renji as the paired character?
A101.
On the contrary, I've never once thought of Ichigo's counterpart as anyone other than Renji.
Q102.

Are there any recent Jump manga that you find interesting?
A102.
Jump manga have been interesting lately huh? My absolute favorites are Undead Unluck and SAKAMOTO DAYS. And recently, High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku too.
Q103.
2021.05.17
Are Harribel-sama's Fracción (Apacci, Sung-Sun and Mila Rose) modeled after Nocchi, KASHIYUKA and a-chan from the music group "Perfume"?
A103.
A long time ago, I was asked the same question by the individuals in question themselves. It's an incorrect assumption, however I like Perfume so I don't mind.
Q104.
2021.05.17
I have a question about the illustrations published in the Gallery's Guidelines on KlubOutside. Are the numbers noted on the side the Copic color number?
A104.
This is the screentone number (a polka dot pattern film that is cut and pasted onto an analog manuscript.)
Q105.
2021.05.17
Have you ever watched professional wrestling?
A105.
I used to watch WWE (known as WWF back then) quite often around the time The Rock was at his peak.
Q106.
2021.05.17
Did someone give Rōjūrō the nickname "Rose" because it was difficult to call him "Rōjūrō"?
A106.
Rose gave himself that nickname because he thinks it's cool.
Q107.
2021.05.17
Why does Ninny wear suspenders in the BTW anime?
A107.
When they saw her wearing it in the color spread for the one-shot, the anime team said "it's cute so is it okay if she wears it the whole time in the anime?"
Q108.
2021.05.24
I think the illustrations from Brave Souls at this opportune time captures the essence of the original work and is incredibly cool, as the original author, what sort of impressions do you have of the Brave Souls illustrations?
A108.
I think it's getting better with each passing year. The design roughs that are submitted for supervision are also excellent.
Q109.
2021.05.24
Where do you start from when making a drawing?
A109.
When I'm not doing a rough underdrawing, I start from the bone around the eyebrows.
Q110.
2021.05.24
I'd like to know about what you've purchased and found useful recently, or something that you're enjoying.
A110.
A Yogibo Pod, Tom Ford sneakers, JINS PC glasses.
Q111.
2021.05.24
Is the playlist on KlubOutside the list that Kubo-sensei is listening to?
A111.
I'm uploading the songs I often listen to in real time.
Q112.
2021.05.24
Did Kubo-sensei decide the OP and ED songs for the anime?
A112.
Basically that doesn't involve me. Occasionally, I'd receive a demo version, and there were also times when I gave a little input when it didn't feel like much of an opening theme.
Q113.
2021.05.31
Will you ever publish a continuation of your one-shot stories like Rune Master Urara.
A113.
Urara had a story prepared for the purpose of serialization but it didn't get past the serialization meeting because it had a female protagonist in a battle setting and the story was hellishly dark. I'm not interested in drawing dark stories right now, but I might do it if I get a lot of free time.
Q114.
2021.05.31
Kubo-sensei, please tell us your favorite font (like Ming typeface or Gothic typeface etc.)
A114.
During BLEACH's serialization, I liked Impact.
Q115.
2021.05.31
Byakuya-san said that Ichigo was only the second person to ever bear witness to his Senkei, but who was the first person to have seen it?
A115.
I can't answer this here.
Q116.
2021.05.31
Regarding the animation production, you mentioned that it would make your stomach hurt while watching it at home due to discrepancies that arose from your lack of involvement in its early days. But, from approximately what episode did Tite-sensei get his hands involved in the production?
A116.
Starting from the Bount arc, I began to do only dialogue checks in the script for the characters belonging to the original work, just before recording.
Q117.
2021.05.31
Old-man Zangetsu tried to reveal his name while in Kurosaki Ichigo-kun's inner world, but it was blocked out with black ink and he was unable to convey his message. Was this the work of Hyōsube Ichibē.
A117.
That's correct.
Q118.
2021.06.07
Is "Rondanini's black dog" Kotodama originating from the West Branch of Soul Society? ×[1]
A118.
That's right.
Q119.
2021.06.07
Your photos of Uni-chan are very beautiful, did you take them with a digital camera? Or was it a smartphone?
A119.
A smartphone.
Q120.
2021.06.07
Did Captain Hitsugaya and Rangiku-san realize that Ichigo is Shiba Isshin's son when they came to the Human World as part of the Hitsugaya advance team?
A120.
Both of them realized.
Q121.
2021.06.07
It's come to be that Gin's Special Move in Brave Souls is "Shukyoku - Kamishini no Yari, Butō: Renjin." Is this "Shukyoku" an established concept in the original work?
A121.
That's heart Gin isn't it? It's a game original expression.
Q122.
2021.06.07
When you listen to a character's theme song, it can heighten the depth of each individual considerably, so I enjoy having the opportunity to listen to them. At what stage in the development of a character are these theme songs decided?
A122.
It depends on the character. Some characters change midway through the drawing process.
Q123.
2021.06.14
What kind of thoughts went into the name "Tite", Kubo-sensei's pen-name? The alphabetical notation has always been "Tite" rather than "Taito", but is there some reason for that? Furthermore, I'm also curious as to why the unusual character "帯" is used in your name.
A123.
It means something like "one's head is always filled with many people." ×[2]
Q124.
2021.06.14
When Kurotsuchi Mayuri's bare face was revealed for the first time, his skin color was dark, but was that the case from the beginning? Also, will Kurotsuchi Mayuri's bare face never be seen again? He was more handsome than I expected.
A124.
This is about the anime? I recall watching the broadcast at the time and saying to my editor "his skin color is different!" The request for editorial supervision didn't come to me.
Q125.
2021.06.14
Which organization assigns names to Hollows?
A125.
There's a guy in charge of naming in the Shinigami Research and Development Institute.
Q126.
2021.06.14
In the final chapter, Orihime appeared as Ichigo's wife, but there was no ring on her left ring finger. Did Kubo-sensei forget to draw it? Or is it establishing that she's pregnant with her second child and her body is swollen, therefore she intentionally took off her ring?
A126.
Huh? You're right! I forgot to draw it.
Q127.
2021.06.14
Why were two Hyōrinmaru born?
A127.
I'd be happy if you could watch the movies as a parallel story rather than considering it part of the official canon.
Q128.
2021.06.21
How do you come up with the subtitle for each chapter? In BLEACH especially, most of the subtitles are in English and occasionally there is Japanese, but is there a particular emphasis placed on that? Additionally, I would be so glad if you could also tell us about any subtitles throughout your entire body of work that you are particularly fond of or any that evoke some special memory.
A128.
At the time, there was no other work yet which combined Japanese style clothing with the English alphabet, so I deliberately added English subtitles, and in special chapters I made a point of adding Japanese subtitles in order to leave an impression. In that sort of sense, many people may prefer the Japanese subtitles.
Q129.
2021.06.21
I was interested in manga artists' fan clubs and joined one! I started reading BLEACH for the first time last week and am currently on volume 22. I'm looking forward to getting to the final volume! I would really like to know who exactly is sensei's favorite character!?
A129.
Eh? You joined without reading BLEACH!? Is this person real…. I don't have a favorite character. On the whole, I like them all about the same and am equally uninterested in them about the same.
Q130.
2021.06.21
To what extent is Kubo-sensei involved with Brave Souls? Did you ever get to play it again?
A130.
The gameplay mechanics don't concern me, but I oversee the design for the anniversary characters and characters who appear to affect the main story similar to the novel variants. I returned to the game after a long hiatus during BTW, but I was surprised at just how much easier it has become to play.
Q131.
2021.06.21
How did you decide the names of your characters? Do you have some kind of image in mind when you come up with names like "Bambietta Basterbine" and "Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez" etc.?
A131.
Everything is named based on how it sounds and my own intuition. I genuinely love naming things, so I always have a list of names belonging to (or sound like they belong to) various nationalities, enough to accommodate several hundred characters. I often draw out names from there.
Q132.
2021.06.21
A fair amount of difference can be observed in Kubo-sensei's art style when comparing the first volume with the last volume, but did you intend for this change at the time the manga was being serialized? Or did it change over the course of drawing a large number of illustrations?
A132.
It's not so much a conscious effort, but more like a perpetual feeling that this isn't the best style for portraying my characters, and I'm trying to explore that while drawing. In the case of BLEACH, of course the final stages are closer to the ideal, and at present I'm even closer to that ideal compared to back then.
Q133.
2021.06.28
I believe Tōsen can Hollowfy → activate Resurrección, but can Ichigo and members of the Visored do this too? Does this mean that both Bankai and Resurrección are possible if they are in a Hollowfied state?
A133.
It's possible.
Q134.
2021.06.28
Is "Top of Horns" a metaphor for various genres of music? For example, I think Bruno represents rock and roll and Roy represents R&B.
A134.
It's different for Top of Horns, but it was actually like that for the Visored.
Q135.
2021.06.28
Please unveil the mystery behind "Ururu" and "Jinta". Who are they?
A135.
They are both Artificial Souls created by Kisuke.
Q136.
2021.06.28
In the illustrations for BLEACH, the characters are seen wearing western style clothes with various designs, but were these designs drawn independently by Kubo-sensei himself.
A136.
All illustrations in the original work are my own designs, all illustrations from the anime do not concern me.
Q137.
2021.06.28
Sensei, when you draw an illustration, do you draw the figure and such without using any references, like an artist's mannequin?
A137.
I once went to check out an art supply store because I thought it would be cool to have a drawing mannequin in my workplace, like one of those skilled painters, but in the end I didn't buy it since I couldn't figure out how to correctly use it as a reference.
Q138.
2021.07.05
I like Senju Kōten Taihō and often chant it, does sensei have a favorite incantation to chant too?
A138.
I generally always like the newest ones the best, so right now it's probably Blue Spark or Supernal Jail.
Q139.
2021.07.05
Was the BLEACH logo sensei's idea?
A139.
That's correct. I had a logo which I drew myself brought to life by an acquaintance, Shueisha bought it and are using it. By the way, the logo on the first chapter spread of Zombiepowder is hand-drawn, and I had BTW use my hand-drawn logo as is.
Q140.
2021.07.05
When you were contemplating the map of Karakura Town, were there any places that you used as reference?
A140.
I sort of used my local town as reference but it turned out completely different.
Q141.
2021.07.05
If it's okay, I would like to know Hinamori Momo-san's name before the change. Also, besides Hinamori-san, are there any other characters whose names have been changed since the initial stages?
A141.
I changed it because it wasn't very good, so the original is a secret. Additionally, Hitsugaya had a completely different first name too until the very last moment of the manuscript. This is also a secret.
Q142.
2021.07.12
I have a question regarding Kira Izuru-kun's healing abilities and the history of his affiliations. He was first assigned to Captain Aizen's 5th Division, while there he was found to have an aptitude for Kaidō and was recruited to the 4th division, but does that mean that he was later poached by Ichimaru Gin of Squad 3?
A142.
When he was a member of Squad 4, it was Aizen who recommended the transfer to Unohana.
Q143.
2021.07.12
How was it that Kuna Mashiro came to be appointed as "Super Vice-Captain"? Is her armband official? (Personally, I think it's something she wilfully made on her own, or perhaps someone in her Squad prepared it just to placate her.)
A143.
When Kensei returned to the position of Captain, Mashiro pestered Kensei alone saying it's "unfair", so it's a post that Kensei made up himself without consulting anyone. The armband is also a complete fake made with shiny material in the hope that it would please Mashiro. Though, with a single glance Mashiro was satisfied.
Q144.
2021.07.12
In volume 31, when Grimmjow tried to break Loly's leg clean off, she says "if you stop, wait! We can make this our secret!" What was she trying to say next? I haven't spoken openly about it much since being told that I have a bad personality, but the scenario before and after that scene is one of my favorites!!
A144.
It was "I'll let you have your way with me." Loly's the kind of character who would deliver a line like that when she's in a desperate situation. A famous manga artist friend of mine once told me that he loved that scene too, so I think it's fine to openly discuss it.
Q145.
2021.07.12
I thought that the 5 members of the Bambies from the Wandenreich looked similar to Momoiro Clover Z, but what are the facts actually like?
A145.
The very first design motif I used for them was indeed Momoclo, but after I had finalized the characters I thought "well then, who is Gigi?" So I decided not to say anything. (I just said it.)
Q146.
2021.07.12
I'm really looking forward to the Ninny-chan and Noel-chan figurines, when will the news be updated?!
A146.
I'm looking forward to it too. I wonder when!?
Q147.
2021.07.12
Kubo-sensei, do you drink alcohol? If so, what kind of alcohol do you like?
A147.
I recently discovered that I'm able to drink if it's "Horoyoi*." I like the white one. (*Horoyoi is a brand of canned, alcoholic beverage in Japan.)
Q148.
2021.07.12
Do you have a favorite YouTuber?
A148.
I don't know if I can classify them as YouTubers, but I sometimes watch YouTube videos of people free diving then catching and eating strange fish.
Q149.
2021.07.19
Why is the Shihakushō, which can also be called the Shinigami uniform, black? Is it so that the Monk can enlist their help in case of an emergency?
A149.
The color was decided upon in the days of first Gotei generation, the reason was "so you wouldn't have to throw it away every time it gets stained with blood." However, your idea about the Monk would also make a good backstory.
Q150.
2021.07.19
How do members of the Sternritter perceive Giselle Gewelle's gender? Are they not aware of it, are they aware but pretending not to notice it, or are they just not interested in it? I would be glad if you could tell us.
A150.
It depends on the person.
Q151.
2021.07.19
I have a question concerning Kusajishi Yachiru. Is it a result of the fact that she was called by the name "Yachiru" that she herself possessed a Zanpakutō called "Sanpo Kenjū", while also being "Nozarashi" - the Zanpakutō of Zaraki Kenpachi?
Like Hihiō Zabimaru or Fuji Kujaku, there are many scenes where a Zanpakutō not called by its true name was unable to demonstrate its true power. I reckon "Nozarashi" bore the essence of a Shinigami and materialized as a consequence of being called by the name "Yachiru" - a Shinigami who actually exists, and perhaps because it was the name "Yachiru" (*Yachi = eight thousand, Ru = flows/styles), she acquired Sanpo Kenjū which was specialized for the act of cutting.
I'm quite curious about the true identity of Kusajishi Yachiru, so I'd be overjoyed if you could give us an answer.
A151.
Wow, amazing! It's not even written that Yachiru is Nozarashi, yet you managed to find your way here. You are mostly correct within the scope covered by your question. To go further, Yachiru is a form of Nozarashi's Bankai manifestation separated from its main body, and having received her name from Kenpachi, she harbored the power of a Shinigami. The embodiment of Nozarashi itself takes the form of a grown woman. I think it's easier to understand if I got you to imagine Zangetsu and Tensa Zangetsu.
Q152.
2021.07.19
Why are the names of Chad and Orihime's Fullbring not in English unlike the members of XCUTION? I was intrigued because sensei used different languages for naming depending on the faction.
A152.
Since these two are in a special category, their abilities were given names in their respective native languages.
Q153.
2021.07.19
With Madarame Ikkaku's appearance in the Fullbring chapters, attached to his right shoulder we see some kind of gold plated equipment with the kanji for "dragon" printed on it, is that his own work? I'm curious because it's established in the lore that he's good with his hands.
A153.
It's Ikkaku's own work.
Q154.
2021.07.19
What kind of person is the manager of ABCookies where Orihime worked?
A154.
I have the concept art for him. I ended up having so much fun while drawing him that he became a creepy old man, but he's a good person.
Q155.
2021.07.26
Did Baraggan not reveal his own rank, nor refer to himself as "Espada" due to his rivalry with Aizen?
A155.
That's right.
Q156.
2021.07.26
Please tell us your favorite places in Hiroshima!
A156.
I don't get to go back that often, but I like Soleil (now Aeon Mall). It's huge and exciting.
Q157.
2021.07.26
Is it intentional that the number of English words used in the subtitle from BLEACH chapter 679 "THE END" up to 683 "THE DARK SIDE OF TWO WORLD ENDS" increases with each chapter?
A157.
Yes.
Q158.
2021.07.26
Aizen said "From the very start, no one has stood upon the heavens," and while looking at Ukitake he said "not you, not I, nor even gods," but was this "you" here hinting at the connection between Ukitake and the Soul King?
A158.
That is correct.
Q159.
2021.07.26
The haori, jinbei, and hat which Urahara Kisuke wears in the Human World can probably be described as his only good clothes, did Urahara Kisuke himself purchase them at a Human World draper or something?
A159.
Those are all items Kisuke made himself.
Q160
2021.07.26
To what extent does Kubo-sensei supervise the color scheme of the digital color tankōbon?
A160.
I'm supposed to give them all a look over around the time of their debut, but since I'm making my checks while busy with other things during serialization, I sometimes find myself wondering "did I really choose this kind of color!?" In Brave Souls, occasionally the color of the skills just happen to change, well that is the reason why. I'm sorry!

Spanish is used for words related to the Arrancar and Hueco Mundo, German is used for words related to the Wandenreich and Quincy, but I would like to know why you chose these two languages? Does Kubo-sensei have a special attachment to both languages?
A161.
I think Spanish has a devilish charm, German has a hard-headed sound to it. By the way, when I told this story at an event in Germany, it was amusing to the Germans. It seems that the German people themselves consider the German national traits to be "idyllic and easygoing", apparently they found it amusing because of the disparity between this and my "hard-headed sound" assessment.
Q162.
In the 13BLADEs. "Frank Questions!" segment, you said that you haven't actually drawn a certain character's Bankai up to its final form yet, was that referring to adult Hitsugaya? If so, from what point in time did you decide you were going to draw the concept of a "slightly aged up" Hitsugaya?
A162.
I was talking about Hitsugaya. It was decided when Hitsugaya was designed therefore it was already decided by the time he debuted.
Q163.

Kubo-sensei, please tell us the reason why you named your dog "Uni".
A163.
It's an anagram of 'inu'. Just kidding. I named my dog "Uni" because it was expected that her fur would become orange as she grew. It turned out to be a burnt mochi-like color though. ×[3]

Taking into account Isshin and Masaki's origins, it seems to me that Ichigo's grandparents do not exist in the Human World, but is "Grandpa Rin", whose name was mentioned in the Lost Agent arc, an individual who actually exists? Is he a relative of Tsukishima-san?
In the past, there was a "Love Bleach" film featured at a BLEACH event, but would you consider launching the actual product for sale in the future?!
A165.
"Love Bleach", wasn't that supposed to be some kind of dating simulation game? I guess, If a game company can make a profit, I don't see why not. ×[4]

I went to the opening day stage greeting for BURN THE WITCH! I saw on social media that sensei also came to see it, but where did you watch it from?
A166.
The seats on the 2nd floor are like cozy sofas. It was awesome.

This is a question regarding the origins of the name "Yhwach". In the original work, it was derived from being called "Yū", "ha", "vē", "ha", but does this have its roots in the monotheistic God of Judaism and Christianity, "YHVH" (Jehovah, Yahweh)?
A167.
Originally the spelling of "Yhwach" itself was like that, but I was asked to change it because it would 100% cause controversy overseas so it's come to be this current spelling.

Isane also became a Captain, so….

In the earliest iterations of BLEACH, the Shinigami wear Western-style outfits and are armed with guns. It seems that in this universe, Rukia was the only one among them to use a scythe, but what was the reason for making Rukia the only one to wield a different weapon?
A168.
The lore was that Rukia was the only one who continued to use an old-fashioned scythe due to a difference in ideology. Also, at the time, the Shinigami characters were all foreigners.

I would like to know the origin of the name "Macy Baljure" (it's my favorite). If possible, please by all means, let us know!
A169.
I don't know the origin, but Macy's name was the one I struggled with the most and I made alterations within the name alone like three times.

Is there any difference between a short release call for a Zanpakutō and a long one like in the case of Kyōraku or Ukitake?

Basically, the longer ones are often older Zanpakutō.

When drawing manga, do you tend to forget details in the costume blueprints for characters who, for instance, you haven't drawn in a long time?
A171.
I forget things very easily. Even during the series, I forgot the location of Rangiku's mole.
Q172.
2021.08.16
Did you devise the opening and ending of the BLEACH anime together with the anime staff? I was wondering if sensei's ideas were incorporated as well.

I'm not involved with the OP & EDs. Each one is good in it's own way.

Why did Hisagi fail the entrance exam for the Academy twice?
A173.
Because it's Shūhei.

Regardless of whether they were in a higher or lower position, members of the Visored have been quite casual since their days as Shinigami, using informal language and addressing each other without honorifics. Just because they're all together, I don't think that necessarily means that they were at the Academy at the same time, so what could be the driving force for them to have become this close?
A174.
All of them are diehard individualists, or rather, the type to follow their own rules, so people of that type get along well with each other, and I get the impression that because they're the same type, many people don't care how informal they are with one another. Rather than a 'driving force', it's more like "for some reason, I feel like I talk to this guy a lot."

I love Sado-kun. I would like to know if there is a backstory regarding Sado-kun's tattoo such as when and how he got it inked.

When his Abuelo died, Sado got it inked in order to keep his spirit strong.

What is sensei's shoe size in cm? Also, if you have any favorite shoes, please let us know!

I'm reading them all.

This isn't really a question, but I hope that the Radio Kon letters segment, which appeared in the early Tankōbon, makes a comeback.
A178.
I didn't want to do that anymore because I had to draw the cutout faces of characters, every volume, just for that segment which was quite exhausting. I planned to do this myself though.
Q179.

Will sensei's illustrations mainly be done digitally from now on? I'm curious because I love the illustrations that were colored with sensei's Copic markers. Also, which one do you prefer, sensei?
A179.
Right now, I'm having fun with digital. I'm still not very good at using digital, but going forward, I'd like to be able to switch back and forth between both depending on my mood.

I would like to know what your favorite buildings are?

Why does Tatsuki want to become stronger? Her name seems strong, though there is some backstory which revealed that Tatsuki herself doesn't like it, so I'm just allowing myself to imagine that perhaps her parents work at a dojo or do something related to martial arts. I'm also very interested about Orihime in her middle school days, viewed from Tatsuki's perspective. Ichigo and Orihime's pasts have points of similarity, being bullied because of their hair color and experiencing the death of a family member, so I wonder if Tatsuki noticed that they have these things in common?
A181.
The karate dojo that Ichigo used to attend is attached to Tatsuki's home. Additionally, in a flashback which I had to cut due to page limitations, there was a scene where Tatsuki draws a parallel between Ichigo and Orihime. You're quite the reader, huh?
Q182.

I want to be able to draw illustrations like Kubo-sensei so I'm practicing, but whether it be male or female characters, please let me know if there are any points you pay particular attention to when drawing people.
A182.
There isn't much difference in how I depict men and women. I get the sense that I draw each character with a feeling that's like "this aspect of this character is good."
Q183.

I have a question about the feathers around Yumichika's eyes. When he appeared in the story about Ikkaku's past, and also 10 years later, it doesn't appear that he's wearing any accessories, but is that sort of like ‘his thing’ these days?
A183.
All the things Yumichika wears are fashionable items, so it varies depending on the season.

I would like to know the details about the relationship between Mask De Masculine and James. Is it correct to infer from Yhwach's line "James, so you have died?" that Masculine is like a false manifestation and James is his true form.
A185.
James is the true form, and Masculine is James's ideal hero.

Regarding the subtitle of BLEACH volume 6 "THE DEATH TRILOGY OVERTURE", if literally translated, it becomes "prologue to the Shinigami trilogy", I think perhaps this means the prologue of the series is about facing the Shinigami, the second chapter is about facing the Arrancar and the final chapter is about facing the Quincy. Is it that you decided on the overall structure of the story from the early stages, resulting in a title like this?
A186.
That is so. Since the Lost Agent arc initially wasn't about Shinigami, it was my plan to mix elements of both preceding and upcoming chapters for a smoother transition.
Q187.
2021.08.30
I know this is a terrible question, but I would like to know Kuchiki Rukia's bust, waist and hip measurements….

It's a secret. All the people asking about BWH measurements and other boob related questions are women…. Well, it's fine then I guess.
Q188.

Some time ago, I watched you begin to draw an illustration on a Shikishi board by hand and without a rough sketch too for Jigoku no Misawa-sensei, I was in shock thinking "you must be kidding…." When you draw a picture, are you drawing with a clear image of the whole composition already in a completed state in your head? Also, where do you usually start from when drawing a character? I was all the more astonished because I saw Kubo-sensei's craft in a character that was not sensei's own. ×[5]
A188.
From the time I was an elementary school student, I have been drawing Kitarō starting from his toes, so ever since then, the order in which I draw things has always been chaotic.
Q189.

Ichigo's attendance score is 13 overall and 6 for male student attendance score, these are also the respective numbers of the squads to which Rukia and Renji belong, that is, two Shinigami with whom he shares a particularly close bond. Was this something you set up intentionally?
A189.
It's just a coincidence. 6 is my lucky number so it makes a frequent appearance within the story.
Q190.
2021.09.06
When I look at illustrations, I often look at the fashion designs of the characters, but I am always impressed by how meticulously Kubo-sensei's illustrations depict the structural lines and details of the clothing. I would like to know if there are any fashion brands and the like which you associate with a certain character's image?
A190.
I was about to say that for every character I've never thought "this character would probably wear this brand", but there was actually one individual alone. Äs Nödt would wear Rick Owens.
Q191.
2021.09.06
Your pen-name in the past was Kubo Noriaki, but why was your name changed to Tite?
A191.
That's because that 'pen-name' is actually my real name and on top of that, it was a misprint.

In the original story and the novels, it is mentioned that Soul Society has a one million year history, but of the Four Great Noble Houses, if Byakuya is the 28th generation and Yoruichi is 22nd generation, it seems this falls short of one million years, what do you think?
A193.
The history of the Nobles is the history of the Seireitei, not Soul Society.
Q194.

I remember that Kubo-sensei frequently used an au talby A5508SA cell phone for many years. Is that the same cell phone model that is hanging from Ichigo's waist on the cover of WJ issue 23, 2005, and the same one that Rukia is clutching in her hand on the cover of chapter 298
A194.
That's right. I still have it at home. I love Marc Newson.
Q195.

Kubo-sensei, do you prefer raw eggs, boiled eggs, or hot spring eggs?
A195.
I like raw eggs. Isn't this dependent on one's eating habits?

"PIPERS" WOVEN JACQUARD MUFFLER was sold on Whiskrs, but does sensei own serial number 1? (*These were sold in a limited number of 99)
A196.
I have it. Personally, I thought it would have been easier to use if it was a little longer.
Q197.

Ganju who reappeared in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc has, from where I'm standing, gained a butt-chin, but did that just happen over the course of his growth? Or was it the discipline he received from Kūkaku, or perhaps he was influenced by Shiroganehiko who similarly has a butt-chin? I would be grateful if you could tell us.
A197.
Huh? Wait, Ganju wasn't supposed to have a butt-chin!? Well then, let's go with growth!
Q198.

The name Nīhashi = 15 → 2+1+8+4.
The names Nīha and Ninny = 15 → Nīha: 2+1+8 and Ninny: 2+2.
Is this something you were setting up as a goal? ×[6]
A198.
I happened to see this on Twitter and surprised myself. The person who spotted this is amazing. However, it's just a coincidence.
Q199.

Hitsugaya always wears something that looks like a brooch, it appears to be a marigold, is this correct?

You mean the clip on his sash which held his sword in his earlier appearances? That's a sun motif.

I would like to see that school parody with the BLEACH cast (the one that was in JET), will it be released somewhere?!
A200.
I want to see that too, but it would be hard to draw the manga myself, so I'm thinking of sharing character profiles and maybe someone will draw it for me.
Translation Footnotes:
×1. "Rondanini's black dog" is part of an incantation for a Kidō spell. See BLEACH chapter 21.
×2. 帯 = to wear/ to carry/ to bear | 人= people | 帯人 (Tite) = to bear people
×3. The joke is: Inu = dog in Japanese. Uni is sea urchin, in Japan we eat sea urchin as sashimi or sushi and it is orange in color.
×4. Back in 2005, a BLEACH dating simulation game parody video, known as "Love Bleach" was made by staff for a BLEACH event. The gag involved teasing a TBA dating simulator. The video is available on YouTube: https://youtu.be/0cA-jySdzYE?si=-5OX0MQX1bZKsqws

Yuki: Thanks for your hard work
Yuki: Anyone here?
Okazaki Rinto: You’re early, Yuki-kun!? I’m here!
Yuki: Okarin, you’re online. Yuki here
Okazaki Rinto: Yeah, I know. There’s still time before the interview though...
Yuki: That’s true, but today’s an important interview day and I finished composing, so I thought I’d camp here early.
Okazaki Rinto: How wonderful. Momo-kun will be thrilled when he reads this!
Yuki: Yeah, who’s the star of the show today after all? Are you at the recording booth with him?
Okazaki Rinto: Actually, the recording ran longer than scheduled so Momo-kun should be back to the dressing room right around the interview time!
Yuki: Is that so. So it’s just the two of us for now.
Yuki: So what should we talk about until he’s back. Shall we have a competition to list what we find the cutest about Momo?
Okazaki Rinto: There’s no way I’m winning that. Let’s talk about what we like about you instead!
Yuki: Are you doing a bit
Okazaki Rinto: Momo-kun himself actually suggested it. He said "There’s a chance I’m gonna be late, you two can just talk about how super handsome Yuki is!"
Yuki: We thought the same thing.
Okazaki Rinto: I’ll start with my opinion! You used to say you weren’t good with people, but now you’re so approachable it’s amazing!
Yuki: Thanks. Do I have to say something too?
Yuki: I can write music
Okazaki Rinto: Next! I also think you’re an incredible actor. I feel so proud seeing you soar even beyond the idol world!
Yuki: Thank you. More new rivals keep popping up, so I can’t slack off anymore.
Yuki: Now’s my turn
Yuki: Now I’m out
Okazaki Rinto: That’s it!?
Yuki: That’s it
Momo: You barely scratched the surface!?!?!?
Yuki: Here comes Momo
Momo: Here comes Momo-chan!! Sorry for making you two wait 🥺🥺 I couldn’t stop smiling reading all the rabbichat notifications 🥰
Momo: But really, just three or four points don’t even compare in the sea of Yuki’s charm!?!?!?!? Like, his beauty mark is beyond handsome, the way he looks at me with such intensity makes me fall in love all over again. He’s so beautiful from the tip of his fingers to every strand of his hair?!?!?!?
Momo: And the way he calls me his “precious partner” is just too handsome…!!!
Yuki: You type really fast, Momo.
Momo: Lightning fast!!!!!
Yuki: I appreciate you saying all that, but today is all about you, Momo.
Momo: That’s trueee~
Momo: You’re gonna share,,,, what feelings you poured into producing my project right,,,,,,,,
Momo: aaaaaaaaaghhh can my heart even handle this ‼ Yuki, Okarin, please take it easy on me ‼
Yuki: I’ll be gentle.
Okazaki Rinto: Let’s get started! As requested, we’re aiming for a casual, relaxed vibe for this interview, as if you’re not even working. So we decided to do it over rabbichat!
Okazaki Rinto: First off, Momo-kun! Please tell us how you felt when you found out Yuki-kun’s gonna produce your song!
Momo: Hmm...he usually composes for Re:vale as a whole, but he did it just for me this time. To think that he created not just the song but also the lyrics, costumes, and the whole concept...I feel so lucky it’s almost too much to believe.
Momo: The person I’ve admired for so long brings me so much happiness now. I want to take that a hundred, a thousand times and deliver it back to all my fans.
Momo: Wait a sec is this real? I’m not dreaming, right?
Okazaki Rinto: Don’t pinch your cheeks so hard, Momo-kun!
Yuki: It’s real, Momo.
Momo: It is...
Momo: This is so special to me that it always felt like a dream! I mean, just singing with Yuki already makes me so happy, but I didn’t know there was even a possibility to ascend to another level of happiness.
Yuki: I’m just as grateful for the opportunity to focus on a project entirely for you, Momo.
Momo: Yukiiiiii~
Momo: Wait a sec, how come my darling is the most handsome guy in the world !?!? 😭😭😭
Yuki: I know. So what did you think when you heard the song?
Momo: It was so cool... I thought it’d be more cutesy
Momo: But it was completely different! And it has this super stylish dance number, I could picture us dancing together the moment I listened to the airy melody.
Momo: Even though we sing in a high pitch, the deep bass was so powerful, I love it soooooooo much…
Yuki: I’m happy
Yuki: I wanted to capture all your different sides
Okazaki Rinto: Interesting…! I’d love to hear more about your creative process!
Yuki: You could say it’s about Momo’s “switches”, in a way. A switch for when he’s singing, when he’s performing.
Yuki: A switch for when he’s pressing close to my side, thinking about lyrics to write. Working earnestly and wholeheartedly.
Yuki: They’re all different switches within Momo. It all shifts. The gap between them all is intriguing.
Momo: My “switches” huh... So that’s how you see me.
Momo: You’re right though, I do change depending on the person or situation without even realizing. The gap between the melody and the high pitch reflect that.
Momo: And the electronic sounds are supposed to represent little switches, right? That’s just like you, it’s fascinating!!!!
Yuki: Thank you. It was challenging since I wasn’t allowed to compose the entire thing myself, but it was worth it.
Momo: And the lyrics moved me deeply. I could feel your message of wanting to face the future together, and to keep singing for an eternity and beyond.
Yuki: That’s right. This song is for you, who pulled me forward and shone your light upon me that day.
Momo: That’s because
Momo: Yuki’s music gave me the push I needed back then
Momo: So that’s why I
Yuki: Momo. You always say you’re thankful to me but
Yuki: "Beneath the countless stars, I can reach anywhere as long as I’m with you." Being with you lets me sing anywhere, Momo.
Yuki: Just like that day we sang together on the sandy beach of a deserted island, the place where you and I sing, the place where Re:vale is, will always be the best stage ever. (1)
Okazaki Rinto: Momo-kun’s crying.
Yuki: Don’t shed tears when I can’t be with you to wipe them.
Momo: Wh
Momo: Whoa stop stop stop stop hold up wasn’t that way too smooth?!?! That line was so hot my tears stopped on their own!?
Yuki: Hello, it’s me, the handsome Yuki.
Momo: Kyaaaa!! Please look my wayyy!! 🤩✨
Yuki: Yep. I’m looking straight at my phone.
Momo: lolololol thanks! I totally feel your eyes on me 🤩✨
Okazaki Rinto: Alright, I’m sorry but let’s get back on track. I’d love to hear about the concept behind your outfits and promo shoots!
Momo: I’m so excited to hear about it! I was hyped the moment I walked into the room for the photoshoot! It looked exactly like a gaming room 🎮
Yuki: The song doesn’t fit an outdoor setting. I felt like even indoors would still be too bright, so I went for a moody, neon-lit setup the moment I found out something like that existed.
Yuki: It was perfect for Momo since he loves gaming, but the gentle neon light reflecting in the dark felt especially very Momo-like to me
Momo: I’m so happy!!!! I really do love those kinds of lights toooo~~ I see how it is, hehe~~~~
Okazaki Rinto: Yuki-kun, your idea of what “feels Momo-like” is always very diverse.
Yuki: Is it? I think it’s normal
Momo: And don’t forget the outfits, I loved them so much >u< Yuki doesn’t usually wear clothes in that style so I snapped a ton of photos of him!
Yuki: I thought we might as well embrace the Momo vibe for this shoot too. We even took tons of pictures together.
Momo: Yup! We were dressed like Player 1 and Player 2! 🪄
Yuki: It's been fun trying a style I don’t normally wear
Momo: You looked amazing!! 😍 💚 Why don’t you start wearing clothes like that more often?!
Yuki: Then how about we try some different combinations next time? (2)
Momo: Huh?! W-w-ww-w-ww-we don’t have to go that far!!!!!!!!!???
Yuki: Why not? Matching outfits always have a wide variety
Momo: Huh!!!!!!!!!! Okarin !!!!!!!! What do I do !!!!!!!! Work is one thing, but a private setting is totally different?!?!?!?!?!
Okazaki Rinto: I find it funny that you’re typing what you’re muttering in real life, LOL.
Yuki: How nice. I wanna be there too
Momo: You have work after this right? so Momo-chan will wait for you to finish!!
Yuki: Yeah. Thank you
Okazaki Rinto: The request was to make this a more relaxed conversation, but you might be a bit too relaxed right now, or maybe you’re just acting like you always are….
Yuki: Is that a problem? It’s fine, right, Momo?
Momo: Right, Yuki! 🫶
Okazaki Rinto: That’s right! It’s totally fine! And finally, please share a message for the fans!
Yuki: This new direction may surprise some fans, but from where I stand, Momo is strong, gentle, and full of warmth. Just like a sunrise that blends the dark and light, he’s a mix of many wonderful qualities.
Yuki: That’s why the song plays tricks with a variety of rhythms, melodies and singing tones. They reflect Momo’s ever-changing expressions. I hope you enjoy “Get in the Groove.”
Momo: I always spend every day thinking about how happy I am ever since Yuki and I became Re:vale. Sometimes so much so that I wish time could stop.
Momo: But you know, listening to “Get in the Groove” made me feel even happier! I know this project was born all thanks to our fans’ unwavering support. Thank you so much!!! I feel like the happiest person alive right now!
Momo: And that’s why I want everyone who supports us to feel as happy as I do, always and forever! I hope that you never get your feelings hurt! And if sadness ever comes your way, I hope our songs will be able to heal you!
Momo: Re:vale will always be a warm light, shining on everyone like the sun that rises each morning. Now and forever, with Yuki by my side!
Momo: That’s all I got!
Okazaki Rinto: Thank you both! This was Re:vale in full force!
Momo: Yup! I feel Yuki’s love overflowing more than usual 🥹❤
Yuki: Really? I’m not really good with words
Momo: Well no, you’ve gotten dangerously much better at that recently!!??!!!
Okazaki Rinto: It’s hard to believe you once had to practice saying stuff like this.
Yuki: Yeah, that sure did happen.
Yuki: Momo, promise me you’ll keep smiling by my side now and forever
Momo: Yeah. I promise!!
For those who are confused, the sandy beach of a deserted island refers to a specific plot point in part 5 of the main story.
I. am frankly not entirely sure how to interpret this. Because judging by Momo’s reaction I believe Yuki was Most Definitely Not insinuating an actual change of color combinations but. A Different Kind of “combinations”.

Touma Inumaru: Good work, everyone! 😄
Touma Inumaru: Wait, maybe I got here too early? We're all separated today so I'm bored 🤔
Touma Inumaru: The "Ź" in ŹOOĻ stands for "Zealously always singing together!"~
Touma Inumaru: The first "O" in ŹOOĻ stands for "Outstanding and unrivaled!"~
Touma Inumaru: The second "O" in ŹOOĻ
Touma Inumaru: stands for "Oh, I can't think of anything!"~
Minami Natsume: Aren't you giving up too quickly?
Touma Inumaru: Mina!! You were watching? lololol
Minami Natsume: Yes. From the very beginning.
Touma Inumaru: The heck? You should've said something then! I wouldn't have wasted my time with that nonsense! 😂 lolol
Minami Natsume: I was waiting to see when you'd get lonely and call my name, but you started talking about ŹOOĻ instead. It was amusing so I couldn't help but observe you silently.
Touma Inumaru: Well, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself 😂 Are you done with your magazine shoot?
Minami Natsume: Yes, it went smoothly. Good work completing your variety show recording as well, Inumaru-san.
Touma Inumaru: Thanks! I'm on my way to the next location now 🚘 Is Utsugi-san going to join us after his meeting? Hope he'll be able to make it on time
Minami Natsume: I'm sure he'll make it no matter what. I believe he's a man who always keeps his word.
Touma Inumaru: That's true 😄‼️ Where are you now, Mina?
Minami Natsume: I had some free time, so I came to a café. It's wonderful here.
Touma Inumaru: Wonderful?
Minami Natsume: They're playing "ZONE OF OVERLAP" inside the café right now.
Touma Inumaru: Seriously!? That's a pretty hardcore café! 😆 lolol
Minami Natsume: Oh, the customers around me are getting excited, saying they love this song
Minami Natsume: I'm happy.
Touma Inumaru: Really...!? That's awesome. It's fulfilling to know that our songs are a natural part of our fans' daily lives
Touma Inumaru: Let's keep working hard, Mina!
Minami Natsume: Yes, of course.
Shiro Utsugi: Good work today! I'm dying to know what the "Ļ" in ŹOOĻ stands for!
Touma Inumaru: Ah, Utsugi-san, you too! I hadn't thought about that lolol
Touma Inumaru: Umm, the "Ļ" in ŹOOĻ is for "Lovely ŹOOĻ"~ 👍‼️
Shiro Utsugi: That's perfect! I'll make sure we'll be able to sing this at after-parties and such.
Minami Natsume: Good work, Utsugi-san. I'm glad you were able to make it.
Shiro Utsugi: I made it just in time, somehow!
Shiro Utsugi: Incidentally, "Sasagero" was playing on the radio this morning while I was driving. For a moment, I was genuinely startled, thinking Inumaru-san had called me.
Touma Inumaru: No way! Really? I've gotten a bit hesitant about what to say when I call people now LOL
Minami Natsume: Oh, so that’s why you always start so politely with, “Hello, this is Touma speaking.”
Touma Inumaru: I know they can see my name on their screens, but I still feel the need to say it 😅 Wait, it's time, isn't it? My bad!
Shiro Utsugi: Yes! Alright, let's begin then. I'm sorry that we have to conduct it remotely this time. 🙇♂️
Shiro Utsugi: Let me explain it once more. We've been asked to show your usual interactions in a friendly, dinner-table-like atmosphere, so we opted to have a conversation in this format using Rabbit Chat.
Shiro Utsugi: Natsume-san, how did you feel when you found out Inumaru-san would be your producer?
Minami Natsume: I was very excited. Composing a song is a lot like writing a love letter, as the lyrics and melody convey how the composer feels about the singer.
Minami Natsume: So I was curious what Inumaru-san would write about me. After all, I'm the one always writing love letters to them.
Touma Inumaru: A love letter! That’s our Mina; you know exactly how to put it! You're right, I do love you! 😊
Minami Natsume: You say it so casually
Touma Inumaru: No, I'm serious! You were on my mind so much, you even showed up in my dream 👍
Minami Natsume: In your dream…?
Touma Inumaru: That's right! We did stuff like attempting to break the record for eating the most fried rice and cycling across Japan together 😂
Minami Natsume: Is that so? You had quite a naughty dream, I see.
Touma Inumaru: Must've been because I watched a show about that before going to bed 😂
Minami Natsume: Well, I suppose it's fine. I’ll gladly accept it.
Touma Inumaru: Seriously, my mind was completely consumed by thoughts of you! I couldn't give anything less than my absolute best to ŹOOĻ's composer, after all. And above all, I really wanted you to like the song.
Minami Natsume: Thank you very much. It’s become one of my favorite songs.
Minami Natsume: Unlike ŹOOĻ's usual songs, the melody really complemented my singing voice. I could tell you put an incredible amount of thought into it.
Touma Inumaru: Really!? That makes me so happy!! Your voice is so sweet and delicate when you sing; I wanted to make sure it shone, so I worked closely with the composer!
Shiro Utsugi: It has such a pleasant rhythm and a trendy feel to it! Please tell us more about the creation process!
Touma Inumaru: Mina may be younger but he's the #2 Sexiest Man Alive so he's got that sex appeal, right? I figured fans would love it if I brought that out more!
Touma Inumaru: But I didn't want it to be too mellow either. I wanted to capture the lightness of Mina's dancing in the song 👍
Touma Inumaru: And, honestly, I just really wanted to hear Mina sing a love song!
Minami Natsume: Why?
Touma Inumaru: Because you're so affectionate, Mina. You're super observant, strong-willed, and dedicated to your work.
Minami Natsume: Are you sure? I'm someone who ran away once, you know.
Touma Inumaru: It’s because you cherish everything so much that you wanted to run away. If it didn’t matter, you would have just quit. But you didn’t give up on music or this job, did you?
Touma Inumaru: Remember the whole thing with Tora and his stunt a while back? You told us you understood how he felt. That was when I realized that you probably always face everything head-on, one thing at a time, just like this.
Shiro Utsugi: Inumaru-san…....
Touma Inumaru: Haha, this is a bit embarrassing!
Shiro Utsugi: Can I hug you?
Touma Inumaru: Huh!?
Minami Natsume: Why would you hug him!?
Shiro Utsugi: I apologize! I got carried away thinking about how great ŹOOĻ is.
Minami Natsume: Inumaru-san, thank you for sharing the story behind "FANTASY." I will cherish this song for the rest of my life.
Minami Natsume: There's no need to run away anymore. I won't be tied down by anyone’s feelings. The sounds surrounding me give me confidence. "Guided by the never-ending melody, let's take off and fly."
Touma Inumaru: Oh, those are the lyrics! The music you make always gives me confidence too, Mina.
Touma Inumaru: "There's a sight beyond the starry sky that I want to see someday," so let’s keep singing together — the four of us. ‼️😄
Touma Inumaru:
Minami Natsume:
Minami Natsume: Feeling good. Maybe I’ll order two cakes
Touma Inumaru: Sounds nice! All I have with me right now are some gummies. Guess I'll just eat those!
Shiro Utsugi: In that case, I’ll have the candy I got from Isumi-san yesterday!
Minami Natsume: Both of you are adorable. Next time, all five of us should go out to eat together.
Shiro Utsugi: That’s perfect for Lovely ŹOOĻ! 🐾 Please tell us about the outfits and photoshoot too!
Minami Natsume: I was curious about that as well. I was surprised that someone like Inumaru-san who prefers rugged materials would come up with these outfits.
Touma Inumaru: They were awesome, weren't they?
Minami Natsume: Yes, I honestly really loved them.
Touma Inumaru: I'm glad! 😆😆 I agonized over it a lot, you know! Our tastes are probably very different
Touma Inumaru: You're sophisticated, mature, but then suddenly you're cool and tough. You've got so many different sides to you, it's amazing. So I figured anything would suit you.
Touma Inumaru: I went for a nightclub-like vibe, with colors reminiscent of the night sky that I thought would complement your fair skin. I also used lots of soft, flowy materials and elements to accentuate your dance moves! ✨
Minami Natsume: I’m happy. I took a screenshot
Minami Natsume: The silk fabric felt great against my skin. And the delicate yet commanding accessories were also perfect.
Minami Natsume: So that's the reason why only my outfit used the chic colors. You wanted it to complement my skin tone.
Shiro Utsugi: Inumaru-san, you must be incredibly popular with the ladies.
Touma Inumaru: What!? Where'd that come from!?
Minami Natsume:
Minami Natsume: For better or worse, you’re a very straightforward person. I don’t dislike it.
Touma Inumaru: I can't tell if that’s a compliment or not, but thanks!? lolol
Shiro Utsugi: Was the night pool for the photoshoot chosen because of the nightclub vibe you mentioned?
Touma Inumaru: That's right! Like I mentioned, Mina has this night-time feel to him. It suits him. But I thought a pool with soft lighting would fit him better than an overly flashy club 😆
Minami Natsume: Inumaru-san, you mentioned during the shoot that the four lights reflecting on the water were like ŹOOĻ.
Minami Natsume: Each light may be faint on its own, but when they come together, they shine brightly, illuminating each other and creating a large, warm and enveloping light.
Minami Natsume: My, at the very least, your words did make my heart skip a beat. I'm moved by how romantically you described our relationship.
Touma Inumaru:
Touma Inumaru: I’m usually not that great with my words but being your producer kinda made me feel like a better man as well, I guess 😂‼️
Minami Natsume: Because I'm a great man?
Touma Inumaru: Exactly! Isn't that obvious 😄👍
Minami Natsume: Thank you very much. I'm sure the fans will love "FANTASY", which is sung by two great men.
Shiro Utsugi: Sounds wonderful! Please keep bringing us incredible music as ŹOOĻ! 🐾 Lastly, do you have any message for your fans?
Touma Inumaru: Mina, the composer of ŹOOĻ and the #2 Sexiest Man Alive, has many sides. I wanted to create a song that highlights his delicate, loving nature and expansive vocal range.
Touma Inumaru: Be sure to give Mina's love song plenty of listens, alright? If you do, I'm sure you’ll fall in love with him even more! 😄
Minami Natsume: I have always been in search for people who would put their soul into my songs and sing them with all their heart. Laughing at and scorning the world, while hoping that someday... I'd find such people.
Minami Natsume: Meeting ŹOOĻ and being able to create the best music was already a blessing for me, but I never imagined that one day they would make music just for me like this.
Minami Natsume: However, this is not something to take for granted. It's all thanks to the support from our seniors and the staff.
Minami Natsume: So, just for tonight, following the lyrics of "FANTASY," I want to try being a bit more honest.
Minami Natsume: I love you all. As long as I live, I will never let go. Let's stay connected forever.
Touma Inumaru: So cool…
Shiro Utsugi: You both are the best! Super handsome!
Minami Natsume: Thank you. Next time we meet, you’ll hug me along with Inumaru-san, won't you, Utsugi-san?
Shiro Utsugi: What!? Is that really okay…!?
Touma Inumaru: Can I join too!? I'll join! I’m totally joining! Let’s get Haru and Tora too! 🤗🤗
Minami Natsume: My, it's starting to sound like we’re forming a huddle.
Touma Inumaru: True LOL but I'm sure it’ll be fun with the four of us!

I was planning to make a paper for my intercultural study about this, but I decided to go with other topics ww. However, I think this is an important issue, so I want to talk about it. You can ignore me since I’m just having my usual stressed ramblings.
For someone like me who has been in translating for both my carreer(part-time) and my hobby. I’ve encountered the most common mistakes in Japanese-English translation works, either they are texts, books, games, etc.
The issue of “Too Literal” is the most common thing I’ve seen in localizing and translating works, and some of them are just…. bad.
1. What do I think is the difference between a good and a bad translations/localizations?
Grammar? Typos? Punctuations?
Nah, those things are trivial for me. You can fix them by hiring professional proofreaders and quality checkers.
The essence of translation is delivering messages(meanings) from the source language to the target language.
Hence, it is easy for me to tell the difference. A bad translation/localization would have misplaced meanings, and most of times, I cannot understand what this work is telling me. Instead, a good or decent translation would have messages clearly delivered, even there are times the wordings are totally different(paraphrased.)
2. Why being too literal is that much of an issue for me?
Hahaaa, I actually discussed this with my senior translator in work. She said that Japanese is a multi-layered language, and she doesn’t want to deal with it as much as possible.
I actually kind of understand what she was getting at since this was the common issue when I first studying Japanese by textbook. Okay, it was a failure for me. I am not capable of learning language by textbook, thus I just forced myself with frequent exposure in Japanese, in which I tried to converse in Japanese as much as possible, thus right now, I can understand Japanese most of times without having to translate anything to my mother tongue or English inside my head.
Back to the topic, there are actually various answers, but the problem essentially lies in the differences of languages’ respective natures.
We know that Japanese and English are different, but what makes it so different? I am not talking about grammar or structure this time. Of course they’re different.
It is something I learned in inter-cultural communication class, but languages and cultures can be categorized to two categories, thus “high-context” and “low-context.”
English as language is considered as a language of a “low-context” culture, which means that English-speaking cultures expect communications to be explicitly stated so that there’s no risk of confusion, and if a message is not clear enough, it will slow down the process of communication. In the most extreme cases, leaving any sort of rooms for misinterpretation can be disastrous.
Meanwhile, Japanese as a language is a considered as language of a “high-context” culture, in which that most Japanese communications relies on underlying context, meaning, and tone in the message, and not just the words themselves.
Since this is not my formal paper, I’ll just give a simple example to make it a bit easier to understand..
Example:
X 「もし、良ければ繋がっていただきたいです。」
Let’s see how many interpretations you can get from the line above. (If you understand what it means, it’s really ambiguous, but I did it on purpose. ww)
Literal Translation (Google Translate) (I don’t hate machine translations like GT, but I cannot find them helpful since they’re too literal, and it’s not helpful in translating sentences.)
Can you make sense the English translation without context? It doesn’t make sense to me, sorry. Even you can make sense out of it, it’s because you have a prior knowledge or context to understand what/why/when/where X said that sentence.
As I infered above, Japanese relies on underlying context, meaning, and tone in the message, and not just the words themselves.
We can get multiple interpretations based on the situations(contexts) where/when X says this.
X is introducing himself for the first time;
X “If it’s alright, let’s talk again next time."
or…
X "If you don’t mind, I want to get acquainted with you.”
X is asking permission to contact you for next meeting or arrangement;
X “If possible, I would like to contact you next time.”
X is planning to have a phone-call with some higher-ups, but somehow, his call is directed to the secretary’s desk instead;
X “Please connect me to ______(possibly the superior or the person in charge).”
X wants to reconcile with someone;
X “I want us to reconcile, if that’s okay with you.”
or etc. (It’s possible for me to write down some… *coughs* situations, but my blog is a safe blog. You have your brain to imagine.)
You can see how many interpretations can be made from one sentence depending on its situation. Thus, translating Japanese-English needs CONTEXT, CONTEXT, and CONTEXT.
Most likely that bad translations are resulted by translators overgeneralizing that Japanese is also low-context culture’s language like English, or the translators have no idea about the differences at all.
