spooky world is spooky tonight
we are indeed resigned to the fight
to rid the world of an evil blight
« When I think back on the year 1915, it seems to me that I still hear my friends tell me despondently: "I can't think of anything else! I can't read, I can't work, or find useful distractions (...), I only ruminate about our times, incessantly, until I'm nauseated (...). I've just had two hours of liberty—there was a time when I would have offered them to Tolstoy or Pascal. Today I read about [the war], or European colonial methods; issues that are entirely beyond my reach, but how to think of anything else?"
And perhaps we shouldn't strive to think of anything else; the point is not to turn our backs on our times, but to consider them calmly and thoughtfully. (...) It may be that the philosophy which absorbs you leaves no room for indulgence. Perhaps you feel yourself full of bitterness and rancour towards your fellow men, perhaps you have made up your mind to see in their activities nothing but greed and selfishness. (...) Do not be too eager to prove yourself right! Above everything, do not rejoice in being right in so dismal a fashion. (...) My only ambition is to beg the world to look for anything which can lighten the present and future distress of mankind, to find what interests the soul in a life burdened with troubles and disillusionments, to honour more than ever the faithful and imperishable resources of our inner life. (...)
The storm rages on, the events escalate, worsen, never cease. Never have they seemed more complex, more severe, more demanding. More dangerous. Wherever we turn, an opinion holds up its head and vehemently solicits our belief. (...) Our convictions, our certainties, are at each other's throats. (...) Yet mankind, even in these terrible hours, is only seeking happiness. Men have set off to conquer happiness, clutching in their hands the tools which will forever destroy it. (...) The wrong direction the world has taken is so obvious, so cruel, so vast (...)
Regardless, I would suggest not to lose hope—so long as a single wallflower still opens, in April, over the ruins of the world. Like algae, like mosses, like these laborious lichens which attach to the very ruins their infinite need for happiness, we will find joy in our present affliction and we will grow it, like a wind-battered plant in the parched soil of a wilted world. »
— Georges Duhamel, La Possession du monde (translation mine) Written in 1917 as he worked as an army surgeon.
one thing i've recently discovered about myself is that if you give me a video game girl who's raising her traumatized younger sibling (blood relation-agnostic) i will think about that forever apparently

i miss everyone
Quick, dirty, and just plain nerdy Comms
I don't usually post my art on here and i def don't have a big following but if you can please reblog this.
Prices:
$2 USD 200x200 MSPaint Icons
Probably the best deal and the quickest for me. Doesn't matter the complexity of the character. Usually this will just be something a little silly but it's perfect for pfps
$10-15 Half bodies
Usually done traditionally. These are pretty good if you just want something that you can print. Will make as hq as possible.
Price depends on complexity of character and if you want a bg
$25-30 Halfbody - Fullbody Refs
Will include everything you see on this. I will leave Likes/Dislikes and other things empty for you to fill in for yourself
$35-40 Short animations
Will depend on complexity and movement type! Objects can also be added at +$1
Contact me at Boios#9399 on discord or [email protected] for inquiries!
YOU GUYS SHOULD COMMISSION MY NEW FRIEND LOOK AT HOW COOL THEIR ART IS
On my way to class, I lay on the dead, yellow grass. The February sun beat down on me.
two teardrops fell before I had to leave again. I floated to the room.
"I feel like I'm a ghost," I wrote in my notebook.
"I don't belong here."
A bug, pinned down beneath a vast, staring eye. This is me. This is terror. This wretched husk, a vessel for fear.
"It all comes back to the fear," I told her, safe in her arms, guard up against the world.
I am not a ghost, an archive, the world. I am one world. A world that still needs to breathe, to touch, be held.
One must live, to fight.
And so, that wretch dances in deep of night, socks catching dust and dog hair, the house asleep.
Life lives. I'm not dead yet.
hey just a reminder that the news is actively not reporting on the massive protests against the current administration happening across the country. If you're freaking out because "we're really just letting this happen?" No, we aren't, and you're not alone. Don't be complacent and don't give up.

you'll get the urge as an artist or a writer to say out loud the things you're worried about "the proportions are off" "kind of out of character" "i'm not good at summaries" "didn't get as much detail as i wanted" "i made a mistake and here's how" and that's the self-conscious part of your brain telling you "it's bad and if you don't tell them you know it's bad then they'll think you're stupid" but you've got to ignore that little voice and pretend you think it's good or else that little voice is going to ruin your life
I was challenged a few years ago not to apologize for my work and it's literally the hardest thing in the world but i still keep trying just don't want to waste people's time if my work isn't good (weeping and wailing) but fuck it maybe i just gotta start acting like a supervillain and go "i don't CARE, you should be WELCOME to stand in my presence!" with a dramatic little hair flip
There is no "after the revolution." No "ideal world." I don't care how much progress we make, we will always fail someone, hurt someone, and the best thing we can do is accept that, and keep striving to make it better as we go.
And don't get me wrong, I don't say this to discourage anyone from trying to make that ideal world. Quite the opposite.
I feel like it's very naive to continue to approach these big changes we want to make in the world as if there's an "after it's all over" when we don't have to worry about it anymore.
We should always be striving to make life better, even when life seems pretty damn good.

Oh my god
I hadn’t thought to call it “rapture culture” but that’s EXACTLY what it is
"If [the Revolution] is seen as having any end, it will never truly begin."
--Ursula K. Le Guin, "The Dispossessed"
I was talking with someone about why I'm drawn to history, and how important storytelling is for humanity, and he said something that stuck out to me about how we're drawn to savior stories. Before, that was religion. Now, it's revolution. It made me think, stories about heroes or gods or the revolution, it's all the same- the only real difference between the Christian belief that one day Jesus will come and save everyone, and the Marxist belief that revolution will do the same, are the nouns you use to describe your heroes. Do not glorify revolution, do not think there will be a last fight or an unending dawn. Do not think that a hero will come to save you. There will always be struggle, there will always be people who disagree with us (who we must work with! Do not assume intellectual superiority!), there will never be a perfect world. The real struggle is not a myth with a happily ever after, but it is still needed and worthwhile. We just can't help our real world when we're stuck living in a fantasy.
i for one plan to be more insane about platonic relationships in 2025
may I join in your insanity?
EVERYONE is most cordially invited to join me let's ALL get more insane about platonic relationships in 2025
