Come imagine something funny with me, if you'd like
You know how in the Hobbit sometimes the Dwarves had to pick up and carry Bilbo because he was too slow / tiny to keep up with them? And to get him into the trees that time? Yes?
What if, somewhere while wandering around Erebor (after Smaug's gone, the goldsickness hasn't started yet, on their way up to the outside, probably somehwere in the chapter Not at Home) there's some massive bit of broken steps and the Dwarves scramble up fine but Bilbo's too short-legged for that so Thorin pulls him up. Thing is he expected the Hobbit to be, shall we say, dense: like a Dwarf. But he is not, being a Hobbit. And so Thorin shoots him up in the air (you know when you thought a bag would be heavy so you put way too much effort into lifting it, and end up lauching it and your hand three feet in the air? Yeah Thorin does this to Bilbo.)
And both look at each other, Thorin still holding him up off the ground over the broken rock. Thorin looks embarrassed, Bilbo frightened.
"What was that for?!" he demands.
"Sorry about that, Master Baggins," Thorin says placing the Hobbit on the ground beside him. "I did not expect you to be so light."
Bilbo turns red, splutters in incoherently for a moment (to accuse a Hobbit of being "light" is a terrible insult.) "I say!" he manages "I am a perfectly normal weight, considering the circumstances, thank you very much indeed. You can make your own food from now on, I shan't be helping." (A devastating Shire-ish insult. Might as well have called the King a gobshite.)
Thorin, baffled, "Well Bombur did a good enough job on his own, I'm sure we could make do."
"Oh so that's it, is it?" Bilbo replies, even more outraged. "I really thought you'd come to respect me after all. Well, so be it. At least you've told me in plain terms you don't think I'm of any use now that I got you all to the Mountain. A Hobbit likes to know where he stands, you know. And you would not be standing here if it wasn't for me Mr. Oakensheild."
"You are the most respected member of our Company, Mr. Baggins. And we appreciate very much your heroic efforts which resulted in our being here today. I have no idea what you are insulted over, but given that a dragon may be coming home any minute I suggest we hold this discussion for some other time and place, and let us march on."
"I should have left you in Thranduil's dungeon, that's what I should have done."

TIME FOR BAGGINSHIELD FIC RECS PART 2
ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!
This one goes to @youhavemyswordandmybow and @glirdishlotr, and also to celebrate my 250 bookmarks.
The criteria: THE MORE BAGGINSHIELD, THE MERRIER! So, lots of fluff, hurt/comfort, pinning, angst, all my usual favorites! AUs to the heart's contempt, including some modern ones, so don't expect any loyalty to the canon, nor much happening besides the romance. I had a blast reading all of these and I hope you guys will too!
I don't know if you're still doing requests, but since I saw your dragon Thorin, I've been dying to know how you would draw Fairy Bilbo
Beelbo. Beelbo Bumblins (sorry)
I had fairy Bilbo concepts where he was more stereotypical fairy, like a butterfly or something with flowers, but I like bumblebee Bilbo more. He is so fluffy and softlooking, but can sting
Listened to the audiobook and I find it hilarious that the main reason Bilbo decided to join was out of spite

Fun fact: Comments are 1000x more effective than Kudos to inspire an author to keep going!
Leave a comment! Make an author's day!
Tell me why I only noticed you're Brazilian NOW after following you for like. A year
LOL To be fair, the flag was one of the last additions I did to my description, so there's that 😅 Otherwise, I take it as a big compliment! I guess my English skills are not as broken as I had supposed 😁 So, thank you, anon! 💜
Day 5- BPB Alternate Realities
Almost to the end now! Feel free to comment or reblog! This is the masterlist for all the links to the plot bunnies in case you miss one. Thank you so much for reading and being a part of this celebration with me.

Summary: Bilbo has not gotten over Thorin's death. In some ways, he will never get over it. He lost more than just a friend that day, but someone so essential to his very being, he felt he might never recover. So when he went to sleep one night, clutching tightly to his ring and dreaming of more, he is shocked to wake up in an Erebor where Bilbo is married to an alive Thorin.
SCHOLARIUM IS HERE!
After years of creating Neo-Khuzdul lessons, grammar documents, dictionaries, exercises and other study materials, I am delighted to announce that Scholarium has officially opened its doors.
Scholarium is a completely free interactive learning platform where you can follow the Neo-Khuzdul course, complete exercises and examinations, practise with flashcards and crosswords, play language games, follow Story Letters, earn badges and track your progress through a guided lesson path.
Scholarium is the new home for learning Neo-Khuzdul, bringing lessons, exercises, flashcards, games, Story Letters, examinations and much mo
It brings the course and all its supporting materials together in one place, while introducing many new ways to practise and experience the language.
The included introductory video offers a first look inside Scholarium and some of the features waiting for you.
I have also written a longer article about how the idea for Scholarium began, how the platform developed and what this launch means for the older course systems, you can read it on the article wordpress blog.
A New Home for the Course
Scholarium now replaces the separate systems previously used to access different parts of the course.
Brainscape is no longer required. Scholarium has its own lesson-based flashcard system, including Practice, Memory and Challenge modes. Support for the Neo-Khuzdul content on Brainscape will end soon as well.
The downloadable Patreon lesson packages will also be removed within one week and replaced with a link to Scholarium. All their content, together with much more, is already available through the guided Scholarium lesson path.
The Google Forms exercises and examinations will also be taken offline within one week. Scholarium now includes its own exercise and examination system, created specifically for the course and offering far more possibilities than Google Forms.
The YouTube video lessons will remain available, but they are also included directly within Scholarium, where they can be watched without the advertisements you may otherwise encounter on YouTube.
Those who have already started the course through Patreon, Brainscape, YouTube or Google Forms can request to begin Scholarium at a particular lesson. However, I strongly recommend starting with Lesson 1, as Scholarium contains many new stories, games, exercises and activities that were not part of the earlier learning path.
The doors are open. Enter Scholarium and begin your studies today:
ENTER SCHOLARIUM
Welcome, Scholars.
Your lessons await!
This platform is absolutely AMAZING. If you ever wanted to really learn Neo-Khuzdul, this is the way!
Yes! I really apreciated how they ended the hobbit movies ( ◑ ‿ ◑ )
(I realised that I didn’t post this as mine before)

Me: wow, I can’t wait to see what will come of the new LotR's universe movie!

Me: wow, I can’t wait to see what the fandom community will make of the new LotR's universe movie!
Talking about unused props made for The Hobbit again:
It's important to me that you guys know that Bilbo brought a set of travel water colour paints with him on this dangerous quest
Dwalin is thinking: who you calling cranky?!
Kili is thinking: what? I’m the fun one?!
Thorin is like: …. You think I’m hot? That’s … good to know.
i’d write this but im afraid of The Curse so someone come take it off my hands.
Prophecy!Bagginshield
I love the idea of Thorin in the Shire with a gaggle pf hobbit fauntlings. But let's let Bilbo in on the fun. 😁
Consort Bilbo, new to the role and a little anxious about filling it. Thrown off when the Mountain starts getting filled with families moving there, and the little dwarf children *idolize* him. 😍
Here is the Hero who saved their new home, who defeated a dragon and so many other enemies. Who is by the side of their King, who helped to stave off their King's dragonsickness.
And he is *small*, their size, perhaps.
And he looks so different than a dwarf, with his bare, hairy feet, his beardless face, his build so unlike a dwarf but somehow more than meets the eye.
And he is nimble, and quiet, and able to *disappear*. He is quick-witted, and clever, and unafraid to speak his mind to all, up to and including the King himself. Yet he is also caring to all, even and especially those usually deemed unimportant. He tells wonderful stories, and listens to others' tales intently. Loves music and good food, and brings a smile to even the most serious of the Company. Especially their King.
No wonder the dwarfling pebbles find Bilbo *fascinating*.
When they first move to Erebor and are greeted by the King and Consort, it is *Bilbo* that the little ones are in awe of, who they whisper about and stare at while hiding behind their parents. When Bilbo approaches, some hide further, some giggle nervously, some rise to meet him with their best rehearsed greeting (which is always met with the correct response, just as Bilbo would with a full grown dwarf). Every time, the little dwarf children leave even more impressed by the Hobbit Hero of Erebor.
Thorin is greatly amused by this, while Bilbo himself is just confused.
When Bilbo walks through Erebor, even when not in the official Consort role, little dwarves try to sneak and follow him. Bilbo makes a show of pretending to not see them, for a little while. Then suddenly, the little dwarves lose him, like he just disappeared out of nowhere.
Until Bilbo turns the tables and surprises *them*. Leading to undignified shrieks that Bilbo would not have expected to be able to come from dwarfkind. Though some are a little miffed at first, to be outsmarted, they are all impressed and overjoyed at their game.
Frustrated, flustered parents ask Bilbo to speak to their children. And tell them that just because hobbits can go without shoes, does not mean little dwarflings can do so safely.
Bonus if these dwarflings, trying to play at being hobbits, attempt to attach fur or grass or something else to the tops of their feet, to even more closely match their hero.
Solemnly, Bilbo tells each child that tries this that he is greatly flattered by how they wish to be like him. But they must listen to their parents, and walk as dwarflings do, not as hobbits. Both peoples their own strengths, he explains, and they must be proud dwarves, as Bilbo is proud of his friends, and of them.
Wide-eyed, the dwarflings obey.
Bilbo overhears a group of children pretending to be the Company on the Quest. And it's the role of the hobbit that the children fight to have, who gets to be the hero of their little game. Real Bilbo watches as the dwarfling-Bilbo pretends to steal keys (real ones their mother hopefully won't miss soon) from the cruel elves, break his companions out of their imprisonment (under a table), and lead them confidently to the barrels they will escape in (empty crates from the market). He stifles laughter as the fake-Company, much more grateful than the real one had been, jostles each other as they make their escape (hopefully much less worse for wear than those they emulate).
At any official large gathering, if it goes on for too long, the Consort slips away from the official dignitaries and boring speeches. But Thorin doesn't worry, for he knows where to find him.
Hidden away in a side room or small corner. Surrounded by dwarf pebbles. Children of servants, dignitaries, anyone in between. If children of Men, Elves, or Hobbits are visiting, they join the gathering, too.
Bilbo holds his own little court. Here, instead of speeches, there are stories, mostly told, dramatically and with embellishments, by Bilbo himself.
(Picture Bilbo's tale to the hobbit children at the beginning of FotR, but with dwarflings instead.)
Thorin listens in from the doorway, fondly, not daring to interrupt. Even if Bilbo does tell things that would be an affront to his honor, from anyone else's mouth.
Bilbo, hero of the small and underestimated. 🥺
@lavenderbagginshield
It's my hc now that even in canon universe the dwarflings adore the Hobbit Hero and fight every time they had to decided who is playing who because they all want to play Bilbo 🥹

Back on my bs but this time I’ve been on a LOTR/Hobbit kick
I have a sketch of this that I plan to turn into a full drawing, but imagine Bilbo holding hands with Thorin only to realize that Thorin’s hands are covered in cuts, scabs, callouses, and bruises. Imagine this in contrast to Bilbo’s baby soft hands. Bilbo winces, the more protective side of his hobbit self taking over.
“What is it, Master Baggins?” Thorin asks, noticing the deep concern striking Bilbo’s features.
“Your hands…” Bilbo mutters.
“What about them?”
“I…do you see no problem with how damaged and rough your hands are?”
“I’ve never given it much thought. Though, I appreciate your concern, Burglar.”
“It looks horrible,” Bilbo says honestly. “Is there anything I can do to help?”
Thorin gets a devilish look in his eyes, his magnificent blues almost having stars in them. “Well, if you truly wish to aid me, perhaps it is in your best interest to kiss it better?”
