But if, a very big if, the twin brother adam got to meet our Adora in some way, I would only accept it if these two points became true:

He is younger, both as in he was born after Adora by minutes, but also evidently younger due to the portal-induced time dilation caused by the etheria’s time spent in despondos, maybe a decade younger. It’d show the difference of maturity due to their vastly different life experiences and circumstances.

As a princess, she is precious and valuable even from birth, she is beautiful and desirable and bejewelled , she is nice and polite and well-behaved, she is idealised and put on a pedestal, she is fated and destined for greatness.

As a knight, she is strong and powerful, she is violent and forceful, she is armoured with gold and armed with swords, she is hurt and bruised and bled, she is protective and chivalrous, she is undeniably heroic.

It made her sensitive. With her heightened senses, experiencing the world in a deeper, richer and more vivid level, overly affected by external stimuli, but also internal one, having too big of a heart, feeling too much and too strongly, both the good and the bad, being so called too emotional, which was the cause of many of her suffering.

It also made her expressive, unable to hide her inner thoughts and feelings, with her expressive ears and tail and purring, making her wear her heart on her sleeve, tear prone, being overly honest and genuine and vulnerable of her feelings with her body. So in a place like the horde, she had to hide it all behind a carefully fabricated cold and evil persona.

It made her visually different, an outcast, a pariah, other, exotic too because she’s rare, it made her stand out and never be able to fit or blend in, it made her an easy target and an interesting one, never truly belonging or assimilating, it made her alone. But it also made her one of a kind, unique.

It made her get perceived differently, stereotyped, underestimated, reducing to her body and biology, misread, judged, assumed, seen as smaller and softer and weaker, just a kitten. Which she of course turned to her own advantage, weaponised it as a way of defeating her enemies.

It also made her connected to nature, connected to the show’s eco-feminist themes, tamer of beasts and animals and alien pets, sweet and gentle and loving, and since nature and magic are synonyms in the show’s language and magic and love are the same, it made the most perfect sense for catra to be who brought the magic back to the universe by her kiss, to be so connected to princesses and sorcerers. Which also serves as a parallel to Adora’s synthetic and industrial and machine based eternian lineage.
