Ehh⦠teasing? Realizing it had been his own misunderstanding, Haruka laughs sheepishly. "Ahaha, is that what it was? I seeā¦" Heāll have to improve upon his awareness from now on. He takes the compliment to his artistic skills with grace, drawing his cup back and glancing once more at the design.
"Thank you very much! Iām hoping to make a career out of drawing in this city, so I hope that other people have the same opinion as you." How nice itād be if everyone could appreciate his art. Ah, n-not to say those around him donāt give him enough supportāhe receives nice comments from friends, family, and strangers alike all the timeābut there must be an invisible line he has to cross to allow his art to transcend being āgoodā to āsomething youād like to buyā. If all goes well heās already achieved as much, but⦠it sounds a bit too idealistic even to him.
Kingās refusal of his offer doesnāt really shock Haruka, after all it is expected that one refuses such simple charities out of modesty, but that doesnāt mean heāll go along with it either. Putting on as stern a face he can manage, and in the most authoritative tone he can reasonably pull off, the dark-haired boy insists,Ā āIām pretty sure Iām older than you King, so itās my duty to pay for anything youād like. And if thatās not good enough, then think of it as a kind gesture to my fiance!ā Hm, and if all this isnāt enoughā¦
His face relaxes into one of his usual easy-going expressions.
"So that being said, wonāt you please let me treat you?"
ā } ~ "A career huh...that sounds nice." Spade has a career too. It's called stealing valuable things in the flashiest and most attention pulling manner possible. But Haruka doesn't need to know that -- at least not yet! This is their first time meeting after all; and he doubts proclaiming yourself a phantom thief on a first date can be called appropriate.Ā "I'm sure you'll beĀ successful, then. I'll be rooting for you."Ā Spade's actually genuine in his statement; he respects people who can create beautiful works of art. He doesn't steal them just for the sake of stealing them, either.
Spade's not all that surprised Haruka insists on treating him, so he just chuckles when the older one attempts to pull off a strict, authoritative demeanor. It did look amusingly out of place on his otherwise kind features. Spade wasn't at all intimidated, and he doesn't think Haruka particularly wanted to come off as that way, but he decides to humor him.
"How scary. Guess I have no choice but to let you pay for me then." He jokingly sighs in defeat and returns to smiling in one second. "I do enjoy a nice cup of tea every now and then, so that will do."
