Little Miss Obsessive

[ed. note:  This was SUPPOSED to post on Tues. but it randomly showed up a day and a half later...Sorry!] Last night was the Met Gala. Since it was punk themed I had high hopes for everyone to take risks and wear something a bit more edgy. Most people sadly seemed to miss that memo though. However, there were a few stand out looks of the evening. Miley Cyrus absolutely killed it in her mesh Marc Jacobs dress and awesome spiked up hair. SJP had a great Phillip Treacy mohawk headpiece. Cara Delevigne had on an amazing spiked Bureberry gown with a plunging neckline. Anne Hathaway looked good in her Valentino and T. Swift actually looked pretty in J Mendel. I also was a huge fan of the people that wore dresses with cut outs. This included Emma Watson in Prabal Garung, Jessica Alba in Tory Burch, and Miranda Kerr in Michael Kors. I know we have to give Kim K a break because she’s pregnant except…does she know she’s pregnant? She’s been avoiding maternity clothes and wearing extremely ill fitting, unflattering outfits instead and last night was no exception. Receiving packages in the mail is the greatest thing ever! I was super excited to find not one but TWO on my doorstep. In one was the silver spike bracelet from NastyGal. The other contained the pink and gold braided bracelet from Bauble Bar. Both were inexpensive yet will make great statement pieces. Love it!

Last night I attended the event at Opening Ceremony hosted by American Express. We were able to preview the fall/winter 2013 collection and preorder anything that fancied us. (There was also 20% off everything else in the store!) I was super into the fur slap bracelet pictured above. It's a slap bracelet...and it's fur! What is not to love?! The evening also included champagne which makes any evening amazing, of course. As we were leaving they handed us the tote bag and key chain pictured above. Apparently there was an OC loves EP theme (Elvis Presley). However, besides the free gift and one Elvis song being played I didn't see it represented anywhere else. Maybe I was missing something? All in all it was a fun night browsing through all the new clothes.

We've all been waiting for what seems like decades for the new Great Gatsby movie to come out. (It's finally happening soon...right?!) In the meantime the movie has teamed up with Brooks Brothers to release a limited edition collection. According to them it “channels the dreamlike world of pristine green lawns and lavish parties depicted in the original 1925 novel” and “Brooks Brothers is mentioned numerous times in Fitzgerald’s writings as a representation of the ultimate gentleman’s purveyor of fine clothing to the American man of distinction.” Click through to see the collection. I'm feeling the preppy and stylish collection. I think we could use a few more dapper men in this world. I'd love if more men dressed like this - I think they'd look very handsome!

A$AP Rocky has had an incredible year. He's been all over this place, not only with hip-hop, but in fashion. I love this article in Interview between him and Alexander Wang. He has a great message about gays, racism and the like. Very cool guy.

Is there anyone out there who doesn't have a girl crush on Jenna Lyons? This video about shoes seriously just makes me love her more. Apparently the "bad" shoes are referred to as "ugly dollies" and the "good" ones are "shiny ponies." Adorable.  

I was a little surprised when i first heard about the DVF and Roxy collaboration. Roxy makes me think of surfer chicks and DVF makes me think, well, the opposite. However, this collection is actually adorable and extremely reasonably priced! Pretty sure I need that hooded cover-up dress...

"You spin my *legs* right round, right round..." (Who doesn't love Flo Rida and Ke$ha?). Ah spin class, the one gym class that basically every female seems to partake in. Long ago I signed up for Flywheel, my gym has multiple spin classes and I now also do Nitrocyle at a different gym. Spin class at my gym is your standard spin class which is a good cardio work out. At Flywheel I like the addition of the weights so that you are also building upper body strength. Nitrocycle is by far my favorite though because the bikes are in a cradle of sorts and you can "turn" left and right. It also means you have to work on balancing especially when in second or third position. However, every single one of these classes leaves you sore - and NOT just because its a hard work out. Those bike seats are uncomfortable! I finally went and got a gel seat cover by Bell and am SO glad that I did. My butt used to hurt the next day after going to one of the classes but no more! The one I purchased is one of the less expensive ones so I can't say that I feel an 100% improvement but it unquestionably helps a lot. For people that go often and are super sore after the classes I could definitely see paying for one of the pricier seat covers. I used my new seat cover at Nitrocycle last night and had no pain this morning (in my butt at least) whereas my friend who came with me (sans seat cover) texted me when she woke up that her behind was aching. If you are planning on doing any sort of spin classes often this is a product I would highly suggest investing in!
