ive read so many vague reviews from critics who have already seen the finale and so many cryptic interviews from gadd and co that i have a million different things swimming in my head and have no idea what to make of them like first off, gadd said that by the time the wedding happens ruben is so completely broken as a person that gadd wanted to play him "like a deconstructed person almost" because all ruben has left at that point are "flesh and blood" and "animalistic urges" and thats why he grunts and huffs so much, and in another interview gadd said that the barn was a grueling shoot because there was screaming and shouting and flying and rolling in the mud and tears and snot and spitting (???) and jamie bell even talked about vomit (???) and they had to get "very physically comfortable with each other" for the whole thing, and then there was that one review that called the ending "depraved" but also highly original, and another less positive review said it felt like gadd just "pulls the rug out" from under the audience while another praised it as "emotionally shattering" and said its perhaps the first honest conversation (‼️‼️‼️) the brothers have ever had, but now the variety article is saying that the desire between them is "never explicitly addressed" and that the ending is potentially polarizing because of all the questions that are left unanswered so like what the fuck could they possibly do in that barn that is at once so depraved and shattering and honest and yet leaves so much unspoken

I actually do think we should discourage women from becoming housewives. Do not become financially dependent on a man. That's how a lot of women ended up dead over the years. A man gets violent suddenly and you have to choose between homelessness or potentially dying at his hand because you have an enormous gap in your resume and no degrees or certifications or anything that will help you pursue a career that will allow you to be financially independent. He owns your bank account. His name is probably the one on the car. Try and leave and he can report it stolen. Where will you go then?

And if you do become a housewife, take steps to protect yourself. Make sure you’re legally married, for starters; stay-at-home girlfriends have very little legal recourse to claim their partner’s assets in a breakup. Make sure your name is on the house deed/rental agreement, and have your car in your name, even if your spouse is paying for it. Have your spouse transfer money every month into an account solely in your name, so you can buy yourself things without needing permission, but also so you can save up to leave if needed.
