It had been a couple days since he had gotten the approval on the application for his own apartment. No more staying in his dad’s guesthouse. It had grown even more weirder when his dad chose duty and abandoned ship. Not to mention being home made him feel weird when it came to Winter. He always felt like his father and family of hunters judged him while he stayed there.
The apartment was bare because he hadn’t had time to move most furniture items in. He had busied himself putting some homemade Enchiladas in the oven before he texted Winter the address and to come over. Lukas had a surprise for her too, because he had made her a set of keys to the apartment too. In case she ever felt the need to escape and he was out hunting.
The time felt like it dragged on for hours until he heard the knock on his door. He peeked through the peephole and tossed open the door. Sending the scent of freshly made enchiladas out the door towards her. He beamed down to her and stepped backwards into the apartment so she had room to enter in.
“Hey Win, what do you think? Not a bad place, right?”
Things had been on edge in the city recently, her mother was on edge as was Lukas’ family. It seemed the whole city was at a stand still and any slight breeze could tip it all over. She spent a lot of her time away from the city as much as she could. Or with Lukas when she was able to sneak away with him. The man was her best friend, maybe more, she wasn’t sure what they were right now. Another thing that was on an edge in her life. She knew which way she hoped it would fall, but there wasn’t any way for her to know until push came to shove.
Winter was excited for him, he was getting his own place and he was excited. His emotions were contagious. They always were.
When her phone went off she knew it was from him, the only other person who would be texting her was her mother and she was at work today. After getting address she was happy to head over. Flying was faster than any other method they had and it was the most freeing feeling in the world. She’d offer to let Lukas fly, a little fae magic and he’d be able join her in the sky for a little while. But she was still hesitant on the supernatural aspects of who she was.
When the door opened she grinned, “Your own place!” She followed him inside, looking around and letting the scent of the food hit her stomach. “You’re awful for keeping your cooking abilities from me for so long you know that right?” Looking around again she nodded, “I like it. But do you like it?”
