Naked Under the Stars
Back in the summer, I was out at my favorite star gazing spot trying out my new lens. I had been wanting to try a nude portrait with the milky for a while. I had sometimes thought of the creation of Adam in the desert under the stars, rather than in a garden during the day and wanted to capture an image that told that story.
I had asked a few friends if they were interested in modeling for a night sky shot. A couple friends said they were interested, but had other plans this weekend, but I figured I’d go out anyway and just see what I could get. I took some regular landscape shots at first, and then did a few self portraits, holding a flashlight. I wasn’t planning on it, but since I was alone, I figured I might as well take off my clothes and run a few tests of the shot I was looking for.
It was a bit stressful. Hitting the shutter release, running up to the rock, and kicking my flip flops off before the shutter opened was kind of a race, and I was kind of nervous that a car, or some wild animal might show up.
Hopefully I’ll find a friend to model for the shot next time, but trying it myself gave me a better idea of what’s needed for this kind of shot. …like bug spray, lol.
