while on roses hand its about being studious and the habit of asian parents not giving you any affection or acknowledgement unless you do something to deserve that, and sure theres that asian stereotype of always studying and being smart but when you take those things and put it in with rose you get her studying and trying to sound smarter to try and get the attention of her mom as if she just hasnt done enough to deserve and receive this affection, the acknowledgement that she exists and she needs this love
