A few days ago I had to do a presentation for a research project of mine, so I wanted to make a very quick and simple luck charm to wear during it. This is made with things that I’m sure many of you already have, and you could probably substitute any parts of it if needed.

Here’s what you need / what I used:

- Cinnamon (for luck and success)

- Nutmeg (for luck)

- Pepper (for courage)

- Rosemary essential oil (for abundance)

- A container to put it in (I used a small bottle charm that I happened to have)

- Some candles (for charging the charm; I used three white ones)

this is a simple love spell bottle i made to help with my relationship, to bring the passion and love back. feel free to change the herbs to suit your needs best!

what’s inside:

a sigil drawn on a small piece of paper (the intent of the sigil was to bring back the love in my relationship)

coriander (deepens & strengthens and existing love relationship)

Dark Chocolate Brownies (This isn’t in metric…I’m sorry to my European witches!):

-1 ½ cups granulated sugar

-¾ cups cocoa powder (I use a high cocoa percent powder, that’s what makes it dark chocolate, but you can use what you’re comfortable with)

-¾ cup flour

-3 eggs

-¾ cups melted butter (just under two sticks if you buy them that way)

Optional: -chocolate chips, nuts, peanut butter, etc.

Step 1: Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2: Mix all base ingredients until just incorporated. Do NOT overmix. Focus on the batter being hugged by you (through the spoon/whisk) and loved as your mix it.

Step 3: Gently stir in optional ingredient like chips, nuts (if peanut butter you spoon it onto the batter after pouring into pan)

Step 4: Pour into small casserole pan or brownie pan (line with parchment paper for an easy removal, or spray/grease really well. Add self-love and care sigils to the bottom of the parchment paper (reverse side to what you’re cooking on) or with your finger/a brush in the grease/oil spray.

Step 5: Bake for about 25 min (check on it regularly after 20 min, each bake is different and finicky)

Steps: Add herbs to hot water and let them steep for a few minutes. Squeeze in lemon then let the wedge and skin soak for another 1 or 2 before drinking.

Fire signs

Aries: let them know you have their back. They won’t necessarily need your help, but knowing they can trust you when they feel down will change the way they confront their obstacles.

Leo: compliment them. Speak your mind when they do something you appreciate or when you notice something about them that you like.

Sagittarius: reassure them. They like to be their own person and make their own choices, but their freedom often comes with anxiety. Stand by their side, let them make mistakes and learn from them.

Earth signs

Taurus: be appreciative. Remind them you like them, even if you have been arguing. Tell them they’re good enough, even with all their flaws.

Virgo: listen to them. They’re not the type to speak without having something to say. Pay attention to how they formulate ideas, it will help you understand them.

Capricorn: be reliable. Be on time, be constant in your feelings and behaviours. Surprises are usually not their thing, as they like to feel in control.

Air signs

Gemini: remember the small things. Their favourite colour, food, their birthday, items from their bucket list. Gemini moons are quick on their feet and will appreciate someone who sticks by their side when they feel like running wild.

Libra: be blunt. Libra Moons are not as soft as most people think, and knowing exactly how you feel will help them understand the situation. However, blunt doesn’t mean rude :)

Aquarius: accept their uniqueness, don’t try to one-up them when it comes to being different. They like being the weird one, but they need to be reminded that people love them for who they are.

Water signs

Cancer: pay attention to the things they do for you. Cancer moons are discreet in their affection but knowing that their efforts are appreciated will make a huge difference in their self-esteem.

Scorpio: give them time to process their feelings. The intensity makes them sometimes difficult to handle. They like having their emotions under control before opening up to anyone else.

Mkay this spread has only been used with a Rider-Waite style (i.e. The Major/Minor Arcana, 78 cards…blah blah blah) but I’m sure it would easy be easy to tweak for Oracle Cards or other kinds of divination decks.

You start by splitting the deck into three sections. The Major Arcana in one pile, the Court Cards (King, Queen, Knight and Page of each suit) in one pile, and everything else into a pile.

Keep the piles separate and shuffle them as you like.

Cards one and two tell you about your spirit guide. What they are like and what not.

1.       (Draw from the Major Arcana Pile)This is your spirit guide’s signifier. It can tell you a little about your guide and all give you a reference for further divination work.

2.       (Draw from the Court Cards Pile) This offers you a look into what your spirit guides personality is like.

For the last three cards you draw from the remaining pile.  These three cards are messages from your spirit guide.

3.       Lesson or message 1

4.       Lesson or message 2

5.       Lesson or message 3

You can also use this spread as an all-around communication spread.  Lay out cards 1 & 2 that you already know from using the spread before and then just use spaces 3-5 to communicate.

A spirit guide (or guardian, as I like to call them) is a spirit (or spirits) who are assigned (more or less) to guiding and guarding you throughout your life. Being able to speak with your guardian is important and powerful tool to working your magick.

Keep in mind- it is my belief that everyone has a spirit guardian, but how in tune with that guardian you are completely depends on you and your determination to become in tune with them.

Guides and guardians come from a long line of powerful spirits that are completely dedicated to your success. As their soul responsibility, the power your guardian will likely give you will be immense. As with my guardian, we have a deep understanding for each other, and our relationship stretches back to most of my human lives.

How To Find Your Guide/Guardian

Finding your Guide/Guardian is something that may take a little time. There are a few methods for trying to find your guardian, but, often, they will reveal themselves to you, often when you are in the most need.

Meditate- I know this seems to be my go-to answer for just about everything, but meditation truly allows us to think and feel outside of ourselves.

The Tarot- Again, I use a lot of tarot so it should come as no surprise that this is on the list. The tarot is not just useful for learning about the future, it can also be an excellent tool when searching for unseen answers in the present.

Any Divination Method- And on that note, any sort of divination method can be used and have the same affect.

A Spell- One crafted to bring your Spirit Guide and Guardian to you. 

A Sigil- You may even craft a sigil to the same purpose.

Now, here are a couple fact:

Your spirit guide/guardian is NOT a ghost. Ghosts are usually the souls of the living that have yet to pass on to the next life. For your Guardian, this IS their life. 

Your spirit guide/guardian is probably very similar to an angel, though not entirely.

Spirit guardians can be placed to watch over things and places as well as people.

Communication with your guardian may be tricky at first, but does get easier.

You may have more than one. This is not a reflection on how inexperienced/”stupid” you are. Many people who are very gifted witches have more than one, but their path requires them to face dangers that require that extra help. If you happen to have more than one Guardian, consider yourself extremely lucky!

Guardians usually follow a hierarchy of sorts. Many of them have lived human lives in the past (or lives in other realms) and have been elevated to the “position” of Guardian. I’m not entirely sure who gives them this “promotion”- perhaps they choose it for themselves.

Your Guide/Guardian can teach you many things regarding magick. My Guardian has given me entire spells before.

Your Guardian can lend you extra energy and focus in spells- use them.

Now, some warnings:

Be careful who you give your Guardian’s name to. Their name is often used to summon them, and, while they usually only adhere to your summons, having their name can give an incredible amount of power to anyone who knows how to use it.

Your Guardian is not infallible! Sometimes, just like us, they make mistakes. Which means that sometimes, when working with your guardian, it will require patience on your part. 

Your Guardian also requires love and attention! I know this sounds weird, but over time you will develop quite a strong relationship and bond with your Guardian.

Your Guardian is still a fully autonomous entity! Do not treat them like a slave! 

In many old grimoires and texts, you might see an ingredient’s list for a magical recipe which contains an animal part in it - although, this is in fact, a herb (therefore please do not use animal parts in your craft unless it is ethically sourced and legal!).

Bear’s Foot - Lady’s Mantle.

Blood of a Goose - Mulberry Tree (Milk).

Bull’s Blood - Horehound.

Cat’s Foot - Ground Ivy.

Crow’s Foot - Wild Geranium.

Dog’s Tongue - Cynoglossum Officinale.

Eye of Newt - Mustard (Seed).

Frog’s Foot - Buttercup.

Hawk’s Heart - Wormwood (Seed).

Lamb’s Ears - Betony.

Lion’s Hair - Turnip Leaf.

Lizard’s Tail - Breast Weed.

Pig’s Snout - Dandelion.

Rabbit’s Foot - Field Clover.

Serpent’s Tongue - Violet.

Toad - Toadflax.

Weasel’s Snout - Lamium Galeobdolon.

Seriously, do some kitchen witchcraft and pack yourself a lunch for school.

A simple sandwich can carry ALL kinds of magical correspondences for whatever your needs are.

A simple PB&J, with the right intention, can be used to draw prosperity, abundance, wealth, and healing.

An apple enhances psychic awareness and is commonly used in MANY spells.

Carrot sticks are masculine and heavily associated with the Sun.

Infuse some water with herbs and crystals (make sure they aren’t toxic and can also be put in water first!).

open windows and let the sunlight in. the sun is an essential source of vitamin d, which strengthens your bones. it increases serotonin levels, balances your circadian rhythm, and is a powerful resource of energy and warmth. let the daylight motivate you!

burn candles, incense, or run a diffuser in the morning. making your space smell nice is a great way to boost your mood (however, be careful of certain oils used in diffusers, they can be harmful to pets!).

make your own natural cleaning products. two cups of water, ½ cup of white vinegar, 1 tbsp of unscented dish soap, 1 tbsp baking soda, and a couple drops of your fav essential oil for scent… tada! all purpose natural cleaner!

put crystals in the soil of your potted plants to encourage healthy growth (i’ve found clear quartz, malachite, and pyrite are good for this).

sprinkle a little baking soda + essential oils on the carpet before you vacuum, and chant your intentions as you do. deodorize your carpet and suck up bad vibes at the same time.

hang witch bells above the front and back doors. this works as a ward against evil/negative energy, and also functions as a low cost security system.

keep your space clean! it can be hard to stay on top of sometimes, but if you find yourself with a spare 30 minutes, use it to tidy up. your home is a reflection of your soul and your energy, and too much clutter can be both physically and mentally draining.

talk out loud. whistle. sing. this may sound silly, but let your home hear you. imagine your youness sinking into the walls. make your space fall in love with you, and do it in return.
