The Disco Kitchen

Sorry progress has been a bit slow! I injured my neck, but also I keep injuring my neck and it's making it really hard to sew. 😭 But anyway, despite all that nonsense this sheath dress is nearly complete. Instead of hemming the arm holes/bottom or making a facing, I made some 1/4" bias tape. It looks so tidy! Of course you can't see it from the wrong side (pictured here)...😅

This is the final part of the dress construction! I turn it inside out and place it on the doll. I need to see how far I want to sew up the back; the seam needs to stop before the widest part of the derriere or else I will not be able to fit the dress onto the doll! Then, the rest of the back is hemmed separately and I will attach some kind of fastener. Probably hooks and eyes but I may do velcro.

I swear I pressed those seams open but they are still a bit stiff... This fabric is some quilting cotton (AGF Pure Solids) that I get in bundles of randomly colored scraps; they are very inexpensive and usually enough for doll clothes. The fabric is easy to work with but a little crisp and not always the best choice for a garment (just depends on what I'm making); I will probably need to go back over the seams with a steam iron.

I am going to complete this outfit with shoes and a knit sweater, maybe a headband/scarf and some jewelry.
