Love your blog first of allššāØ I'm 17 & even though I have a few months till I'm 18 I'm getting so nervous.. I've always been so excited & ready to be on my own but now that it's almost here I have no idea what Imma do. I can't even find a job. Any tips on moving out & being on your own?
hey girl! thank you, iām glad you like it!Ā š tbh weāre kind of in the same boat, moving out is right around the corner for me, and some things iāve been taught is that:
*nobody really has their shit together at 18. like at 18 ur not gonna have a revelation on how everything works. like⦠ur 18. the world is ur fuckin oyster. nothing is wrong with not moving out EXACTLY at 18. thereās no shame in staying home and saving up.
*find a job girl! you need a job before anything. make a resume, (hereās some tips on how to make one!) and have somebody look over it like a parent or somebody else with a job at least. applying for a job in person tends to be better than applying online, in my experience.Ā
*also, when it comes to jobs, make an entirely separate email address and use that email specifically for work purposes. donāt apply to a job with an email likeĀ ā[email protected]ā or some shit like that. keep it simple. just make one like [email protected].Ā
*hereās a guide for what to wear to different types of job interviews.
*if you donāt know how to cook, learn now! you wonāt be able to eat out every single day.
*moving out means spending more money obviously, and if you donāt know how to budget, you should learn now! one rule to follow is theĀ ā50 30 20ā³ rule. use 50% of ur paycheck for necessities, (rent, utilities, gas, food, etc.) Ā 30% for ālifestyle spendingā (entertainment, eating out, clothing, etc.) and put the last 20% into savings.
*speaking of savings, open a savings if you donāt have one, and put money into it regularly, and donāt take money out of it unless absolutely necessary.
*credit cards are tricky and can be confusing. make sure you get familiar with the idea of credit (look here!) before getting a credit card, and when you do get one, always make your payments on time.
thereās a blog i follow calledĀ āhow to grow the fuck up and act like an adultāĀ that has so many tips and in depth guides on moving out and just growing up in general, i would check them out, they could probably give you more advice than i could! i hope i helped somewhatĀ š
