Fighting Too Be Loved

Today is Memorial Day (a very special day to me), and I can't help but wonder, as I celebrate the veterans and soldiers in my life, how Bucky felt during his first Memorial Day back in America again.

Did he even notice the date? The holiday? The celebrations?

I wholeheartedly hold onto the idea that, despite all his years of torture through Hydra, when he was deprogrammed, a part of that U.S. soldier remained. It's hard to forget war and what you were trained for/fought for.

Did Sergeant James Buchannan "Bucky" Barnes see his name on a time-worn plaque somewhere and try to remember what he had done to deserve that honor when deep down he felt like a monster? Did he ever get his dog tags or get them back? (I haven't seen anything past Endgame by choice, so I truly have no idea)

My point is: I can't help but wonder if, even for a brief moment, Bucky got to stop and breathe and see that it was ALL worth it in the end.

Do you think Professor Trelawny ever saw the palms of their hands (IF they took divination) and realized Fred's lifeline thing was.. shorter than George's? I'm sobbing now
