do you believe the rumors about ELEONORA of HOUSE PELLITERRI ? a recent portrait of them reminds me of EMMA NAOMI, because SHE is so ERUDITE AND OBSERVANT. however, whispers have been saying they’re actually RETIRING AND SELF-CONSCIOUS. maybe that’s why i think of the sound of pages turning, the subtle scent of the least ostentatious flower, the gentle flicker of candlelight.

being born with a silver spoon in one's mouth is all well and good, but the utensil leaves a bad taste if it is unceremoniously plucked away....
the youngest child born to the celebrated pelliterri family, eleonora knew from the start that hers would not be a charmed life. sure, she had loving parents; elder siblings who doted upon her; and more creature comforts than anyone could ever ask for. and yet, the little girl struggled with anxiety and a stubborn stammer. she longed to be like other children, so self-assured and confident at such a young age; she envied their eloquence even as they scorned her half-formed words. as a result she isolated herself from her peers, attaching herself even more to her beloved siblings.
though the young lady could not vocalize her thoughts, they were brilliant. she began to read at an early age, steadily making her way through the family library. she performed complicated equations for her own amusement and taught herself multiple languages. though the pelliterri clan could easily provide the best tutors (or so she was led to believe), eleonora preferred to learn on her own terms. her family encouraged her to read aloud, and gradually her speech impediment improved.
life seemed as lovely as it could possibly be, until the proverbial penny dropped. leandro's death was devastating enough, but finding out about his gambling addiction added mortifying insult to grievous injury. eleonora agonized over every interaction she'd ever had with her eldest brother, wondering if there was something they - she - could have done to recognize and rectify the situation before it was too late. she couldn't speak for almost a year after his death, though the urge to scream was ever-present. when alessio announced their relocation to verona, she merely nodded, too numb to feel anything about the decision.
however, now that the remaining members of the pelliterri family have settled in and started their new life here, eleonora finds that she would rather be anywhere else. she acknowledges that being destitute is hardly ideal, but quietly resents that they have had to stoop to the sort of debauchery that led leandro to an early grave. she says nothing, keeping her feelings to herself and trusting that her siblings know best.
more quick things:
she's an incurable romantic (which most people don't suspect of her, being rather shy and ostensibly left-brained), but she adores weddings and bears witness to them every chance she can get
children adore her. perhaps it's her soft voice and gentle encouragement - or the sweets she sneaks when their parents aren't looking
the vibe: world-weary but still optimistic, the stars in her eyes and love in her heart
