i research up to the point where i decide i'm just going to do what i wanted to do anyway lmaoo but at least i can be like "i know this isn't accurate, leave me and my porn alone." i have been watching a good amount of figure skating content for olympics au tho

it is time once again recommend this social network fic. the writing just pings all my fucking receptors man and it has stuck with me in a way few fics have. there is zero kissing. also yes i know i kNOW its about a fictional version of the real and very evil z*ckerberg i dont want to HEAR IT

hiiiiii there is still something about keystrokes that i think back on and just remember feeling like wow something is clicking here. even if i look back and find issues with it, or wish i had tightened some things up, it just reminds me of a very fresh, fun time in fic writing with a dynamic i knew i would get a lot of mileage out of. i think i also got to write some scenes that i had always wanted to put in various fics that for whatever reason didn't fit, which was a lot of fun.

💌 Is there a favorite trope you like to write? i just *clenches fist* love a slow burn. i love two characters tortured by their own yearning who have convinced themselves they can't have what they want, or that they could never be loved back, etc. i love it to the point where it borders on ridiculous/frustrating for readers and i don't careeeeee they're not even going to kiss until i say so!!!!! maybe never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

canonically in sports....i can't dwell too much lmao it simply is what it is, if i think about all the trades i wish didn't happen, all the losses i want back, i'll drive myself insane!

callum has proven to be difficult to break out of like. just a projection of what i want him to be lmfao. in part because there's only so much we actually know about him, but writing err apparent from his pov was a struggle outside of the scenes where he was thinking about/interacting with austin. i wanted it to feel like he had his own interiority but i couldn't find what that looked like; there was a whole sobriety subplot i mostly got rid of, i gave him a much bigger attitude in the beginning that didn't fit with his motivations in the story, etc. i wanted him to be this jaded ex model who didn't really want to be there, because i think characters with such clear rules for themselves are easier to write overall, but like. idk it wasn't working because i think callum at his core is all heart. he's a romantic who loves and wants to be loved, he has all this drive, he wants things to be right and true. with all that, and with that openness he has, i think when he gets hurt he really feels it. i think i was able to tap into that a bit, but i'd like to take another crack at it in the canon caustin fic i started over a year ago at this point 😭
